pls i have this noise called vvt rattle on my es 300. it only does on cold start. i have learnt it is a common problem of vvt engines and it is everywhere on youtube. I started noticing it as i clocked 265k miles on my car and she is still going fast. I plan to keep her till 500k miles. The mechs i have showed this problem asked about oil lights, i have none. Check engine light showed one o2 sensor is bad which i am replacing today. I used to have an oil shorting, breaking seals and smoking problems all of which were fixed after i replaced pvc valve and hose. the mechs say the noise is from the cam but i need to know what part of the cam and how many of them that needs to be replaced because i donot want any trial and error that will most certainly ruin this baby. i use fully synthetic 5w 30 which i change every 1500 miles for safety.

lol... i was told my master was bad as it appeared my breaks were slipping when idling and on gear. i took it for repairs and after the breaks were worked on it was worse. I asked the guy how the hell did you give me this car and breaks no de am and u tell me its ok. i quarrelled him extensively and i took it to another guy who replaced the nipples, bled the system and its okay now.

It's strange you don't have check engine light but start by analyzing your fuel trims then do a compression test on your cylinders

Unless it's not a vvti engine. Mechanic poured this thing inside my car without my consent. 1 month later I had vvti rattling. I drained the oil and luckily it corrected till date.

I am trying to compare with other cars using the same engine to know what they get since oyibo own will likely differ because of quality of petrol we run and what's obtainable over there.

Car is steady, no jerk, no rough idle. I need someone in owerri that can study the fuel trim and understand if it is running rich or lean.

I have p0031 in lexus es 300, 2003 and below is my computer generated mpg. The lexus forums i belong to state that they get 19mpg on same car and my own is far too below. Sometimes however it gets to 10.0 mpg.

I took my car ( 05 Big Daddy V6 to be specific) to this guy just to change my knock sensors and replace my oil seals. After all was done, I ended up with more problems than I came with at first. I started having random misfires on 3 of my cylinders (1,3 and 5) and other codes sprung up ; P0018 and P0020. Never had such codes with the misfiring inclusive. My car currently doesn't idle well, vibrates. I forgot to mention the timing belt was changed too. Now this guy can't even figure out what went wrong with the work he or shld I say he called someone else to do cause I don't think he even knows the work that well. Yeah, English might be deceiving cause he sounds knowledgeable on the forum. But he really doesn't know jack shit when it comes to practical. I won't even talk about the money I wasted.

In summary, avoid this guy as much as u can. His repairs na probability, can make or mar your car.

The moment a mechanic touch my timing belt, one thing I don't fail to do is to use my obd and scan. The camshaft position codes 1 and 2 are easy to pick up and will show u if the timing is done properly or not. I bought my obd scanner for 2$ from aliexpress and the small thing is very helpful.
