Fontas injured his ACL in last night's win over Osasuna. Pedro also picked up a knock and could miss the classico. |
For €4m, I say it's a good deal for everyone involved considering we bought for €4.5m and he was hardly playing any game for us. Goodluck to him. |

kele1975:You're very funny. Commend Ronaldo for his immense contribution to Spanish football? What "immense contribution"? Scoring tonnes of penalties? |
Percentages Ballon d'Or vote: Messi 47.88% - Cristiano Ronaldo 21.6% - Xavi 9.23% Penaldo with 21.6%? This is a disgrace! Congrats Messi. It was never in doubt. |
Disappointing result, we had the match on our hands and let it slip. I had said before and I maintain that this year's team hasn't been nearly as strong as last season. The numbers back me up on this: last season we lost 18 points all season (5 at this point in the season), now we've lost 13 already. The difference is even more notorious away from home: last season, we won our first eight away games with 29-4 GD, this year three wins, four draws, one defeat, 12-9 GD. Apart from the fact that it'd be impossible to sustain such high level and the injuries we've had this season, to me the main reason for this is that we had much more firepower last season. Our attacking trio was the best of the Pep era imo: Messi, Pedro and Villa were all threats to score at any time and Villa and Pedro did a spectacular work pressing and creating space. This current trio of Messi, Sanchez and Cesc is clearly inferior imo, not in terms of talent but functionality. Messi is still the same; Cesc is scoring at the same rate Villa was last season, but he doesn't have the same relentless work ethic, ability to press the opponents when we don't have the ball - besides, without Villa, we have no one constantly making runs behind the defenders, keeping the defenders on their toes and making space for our other forwards. As for Sanchez, although his overall game is pretty brilliant, we can't really rely on him to score 20+ goals a season at this point (surely it's something he can improve). So we now have two players scoring freely (Messi and Cesc) and only one pressing relentlessly (Sanchez). Last season, we had three players scoring a lot and two pressing like mad men. This is why we killed off our games early last season and are struggling to do the same on the road this season. With Messi, Pedro and Villa from last season or even Messi, Henry, Eto'o from the sextuple season, we'd probably have killed off today's game at half-time. I believe it is crucial that Pep inspires Pedro to regain his confidence and finishing skills. We need the Pedro who was a lock to make the most of his chances again. That version of Pedro would make us infinitely stronger and more deadly. With him, Messi and Cesc on the pitch, we'd have a trio of scoring threats and it could be very functional imo. If Pedro can't get back to his best, we'll miss a third regular source of goals up front (other than Messi and Cesc), which might see us drop some more points. As for the league, it's not over yet but it'll be pretty difficult. |
Madrid have won the league |
marutimon:What a way to start. |
VVV-Venlo have confirmed that they have sold Ahmed Musa to CSKA Moscow for a fee of €5 million. The 19-year-old winger has impressed for the De Koel outfit since making his first-team debut back in October 2010, and has broken into the Nigeria senior squad, winning 12 caps. The news was confirmed on the Dutch side's official website; the African winger will move to the Arena Khimki with immediate effect. The teenage startlet feels that it is an important move in his fledgling career, and is looking forward to getting started with his new club. "This is the next step in my career," he told Venlo's official site. "When I arrived in Venlo a year and a half ago, I didn't dare to dream I would earn this transfer this soon. I'm very happy VVV gave me the chance to show the world what I can do. "Now I can do that on a bigger stage. The club, the people and the fans in Venlo have always been good to me. I will never forget that," he added. Musa follows in the footsteps of Keisuke Honda, who traded Venlo for CSKA in a €6m deal back in December 2009, and the Dutch club's president Hai Berden is proud to once again have nurtured young talent. "With his transfer to this Champions League club he is making a big leap in his young career. I'm convinced he will do even better there," Berden commented. "We're glad we were able to enjoy him and his skills in Venlo and that our club is once again a stepping stone towards a big European club." http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2012/01/07/2834810/official-cska-moscow-sign-ahmed-musa-from-vvv-venlo-for-5 |
gulfer:There was a certain Adria Carmona in that match. He was our former youth team player and he did very well in that game. Allegri was very impressed with him. I hope he gets promoted very soon. I was very surprised to see him playing as a left winger and sometimes drifting into the centre to orchestrate play. When he was at Barca, he played as a left back. |
ogazi007:I'm worried about Pedro too. Injuries have not helped. I really hope his form will pick up. If his form improves, he could be our winter signing. |
League resumes tomorrow |
Barcelona 3 Manchester United 1 |

Messi and Valdes out of tonights game due to flu. |
The match will be on Al Jazeera Sports +3 |
So Madrid escape with a 3-2 win. Well, there's still the 2nd leg to come at Andalucia and I think Malaga can nick this one. A 1-0 win will be enough. Penaldo was super useless once again. He only knows how to score penalties. Strong against the weak teams, weak against the strong teams. |
Ma-fuckin-laga 2-0 |
Bleep yeah! Malaga scores a priceless away goal |

coogar:You mean there's video evidence and Suarez has not been banned from football? Racism is a criminal offence and if there were anything concrete like a video evidence to nail him, he'd be or will be on his way to jail right now. coogar:This is what needs to be proven. There's no other way, I'm afraid. No matter how the case is spinned, it always comes down to the fact that a career/reputation-tarnishing decision was made with no real evidence, "on the balance of probabilities" apparently. The "It's obvious he did it, therefore he did it" seems to be what the FA has based their findings upon. Society would be chaotic if real law (and not just the joke FA/FIFA law) worked like this. |
coogar:Because his version/admission is different and less serious than Evra's accusation, which hasn't been proven beyond reasonable doubt. Para 182. which is based on Evra's testimony the linguistic experts found the phrase that Evra accuses Suarez of saying to be "slightly unusual" and that perhaps another phrase would have been more appropriate to use if Suarez had intended racism. Interestingly, the panel seemed to ignore this aspect of the experts view. Para 191 which is based on Suarez's testimony the linguistic experts found the use of the phrase "por que, negro?" sounds right linguistically and culturally. In para 190 and I quote "in Rioplatense Spanish the use of "negro" as described here by Mr Suarez would not be offensive". So you can throw away the argument that his usage of the word negro is enough to convict him because the proper experts concluded para 194 "if Mr Suarez used the word "negro" as described by Mr Suarez, this would not be interpreted as either offensive or offensive in racial terms in Uruguay and Spanish-speaking America". Suarez was basically convicted on one man's word i.e. that Evra's account of events were correct even though in a crowded penalty box no one caught Suarez using the word "negro" in a racist manner even though it is alleged he said it a number of times. In fact, Evra's account of events hasn't been confirmed by any evidence or witnesses. I want to know what Suarez and Evra said to each other exactly (six different accounts of events aren't helping here) and, more importantly, the tone/intent. The thing is that Evra's version was accepted despite the lack of any concrete evidence and not witness conforming it. Basically, the only evidence that Evra's version is true is that Evra said so. |
Sunderland parked the 747. Cruel result on City, very cruel. |
There are at least six different accounts of what happened: Suarez and Evra obviously have different accounts, and the four United players all have different accounts as well, and no one confirms Evra's. I frankly can't extract any definite conclusions from that report. What I find odd is that they ruled in favor of Evra based on him being a reliable witness when none of his teammates and no one and no evidence confirmed his version of the story. |

sinistyle:We rate him highly and that's why there is a buy back clause inserted in the contract. I posted this about him in our old thread when Busquets hadn't renewed his contract, here I think for the right price, weAnyway, yesterday was Fools Day in Spain so I'm sure this was just another media BS. I don't see us going for Romeu anytime soon. |
I'm sure most of us have seen the Super Sport CAN 2012 ad that lists Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, as one of the pundits that will be on parade for their coverage of the event. So should the NFF allow Keshi take up the job? From what I've heard, the NFF are not very pleased with this and they plan to stop Keshi from going. Personally, I see nothing wrong with Keshi taking up the role of a pundit with Super Sports while the nations cup is on. I mean, there's no way that's going to affect his job as SE coach. Arsene Wenger, for instance, was a pundit for Euro Sports during the 2010 world cup, so like I said before, there's nothing wrong with Keshi being a pundit. |
Hope y'all enjoying the holidays. . . . Meanwhile, City are busy poaching youngsters. Real Madrid fume as Manchester City look set to take 15-year-old Pozo Manchester City are on the |
