RIP Sunday Bada |
usbcable:For this he has got my backing already. |
coogar:Silva created 73 chances in 2564 minutes in the league last season. 10th best chances/minute ratio. . . How on earth is that a struggle? He was one of the best performers in the league last season. |
coogar:Who's talking about goals? Does helping out in attack always have to mean goals or assits? Busquets completed the most passes in the final third in Euro 2012. . . I can't count the number of times I've seen Busquets lead a Barca attack. If DM's are supposed to only sit back and protect their back four(of course, part of the job) then why do we have specialist DM's? I mean, the role looks to easy, you might as well just stick a centre back there. The role's more complex than that. I can't count the number of times I've seen Mikel robbed of the ball and he's just to slow to track back and recover the ball. . . That was exactly what happened in the friendly vs Argentina when Messi stole the ball from him and Argentina went on to score. Even at the basic job of a DM, Mikel is trash. |
@ topic: Song. It's a non argument really. A DM's role is much more than just cutting out attacks and protecting the back four. Football has changed. . . Full backs are supposed to provide width; strikers have to drop deep and also create; GK's are supposed to be good ball distributors, etc. Football has changed, so has the role of the DM. DM's are supposed to help the team out in attack. Busquets for instance, had the most passes completed in the final third in Euro 2012 qualifying. In the absence of a natural trequartista, a DM can playmake from deep. Xabi Alonso does this often. DM's just being play breakers is old school. That being said, how good is Mikel at breaking up play and protecting his four? Not very good, IMO. |
Marca rated Penaldo 1/10 ![]() |
I was gonna call Penaldo the Portugese Andy Carroll. . . but then, Andy Carroll would definitely have buried that header. Even Valdes brainfart passes were more accurate than Penaldo's freekicks. |
Valdes had one to forget, but as he's usually very consistent, especially in the big games, and the fact we still won, we can let him off. The game could've gone either way, again Ronaldo didnt have his finishing boots on against Barca, if he stuck one of his chances away it could've been different. Plus Puyol was in beast mode against him. Lovely finish from Sanchez, didnt think he wouldve stuck it away, was a tricky chance + another goal from Cesc, who I thought aside from that was pretty quiet. Messi was kinda quiet, but still vital. Though he perhaps was a little lucky to be on the pitch tbh, but the same goes for Ramos with that two footed tackle. Iniesta was simply awesome. His performance was orgasmic and Xavi, Busi just bossed the midfield. BIG win away from home, will give them a shit load of confidence going into the Club world cup and into the new year. |
Not a vintage performance but we did really well. Puyol wound back the years. . . Fantastic performance from the veteran |
From 5-0 to 3-1 Of course you guys have improved. Where was Ronaldo by the way? I tried to find him on the pitch but he's kinda hard to notice without penalties. Mou's still Pep's beeyach. |
usbcable:Ozil, di Maria, Ronaldo. . . . Great going forward but how often do they drop deep to help the team when they are under pressure? Under sustained pressure, your midfield will cave in. It did against Levante, it did in the first 20 minutes vs Atleti. Against Gijon, your midfield struggled to impose its authority. It was only after that error that led to di Maria's goal that you began to make a head way. |
From the games I've seen of Madrid, they look jittery against teams that hold the ball and are very vulnerable when you take the game to them. Most teams have been afraid to attack them and are quite comfortable staying behind and defending. Madrid will crack when they're attacked. The game against Atleti for instance, they were all over the place until Courtois' red card. It was only after the red card which forced Atleti to sit back and defend that Madrid could get going. Bar Alonso, their midfield isn't so great. Khedira isn't top notch and their attacking trident of Ronaldo, Ozil and di Maria are too lazy to help the team out at the back when they don't have the ball. What they have going for them is a very good attack, but once their midfield capitulates, we've pretty much won. My preferred line-up: -----Valdes----- ----Alves---- Masch ---- Pique---- Abidal---- -----Busquets---- -----Xavi----- Iniesta----- ----Messi----- Cesc----- Villa----- On current form, Villa doesn't deserve to start but then, every big game needs a David Villa. He always shines in the big games. Pedro and Cuenca can come on as subs when the Madrid players must've gone dizzy from chasing triangles. |
Another smashing Barca win |
I always thought the club was owned by Bukola Saraki, hence, the name Bukola Babes. Good news anyways. I've always maintained that government ownership of clubs is one of the major troubles of our league and our football in general. |
usbcable: AjanleKoko:I saw the highlights again and I think Callejon was just onside. Really difficult to tell. I wasn't slating Madrid per se. It's just that the way Lyon qualified looked quite dodgy. |
This game saw the worst act of refereeing since the history of refreeing. Ajax were denied two clean goals and Madrid were allowed an offside goal. |
Brilliant performance from the kids. I don't think the big boys would have done any better. Cuenca is so good, it's ridiculous. It's just hard to believe that he was playing in the third division last season. Sergi, Rafinha, Bartra, Montoya. . . The future is very bright. Awesome performance from Pedro. Love how the crowd were chanting his name after he scored the third goal. |
These Barca youngsters will win the CL easily. What a performance! |
Pedro makes it three for Barca. Cuenca with the assist. |
Montoya makes it 2-0 Barca |
Rafinha and Sergi have been awesome so far. |
Barca 1-0 Sergi Roberto |
The Alcantara brothers are set to start in this game - Thiago and Rafa. |
So he jumped before he was pushed. . . nice |
AjanleKoko:Not all surprised he could that. He's a good freestyler. There're loads of videos of him freestyling on youtube. |
I think we will line-up exactly the way we did today in the classico with the exception of Pique for Masch. |
Fabregas 1-0. |
^^ u go tey Barcelona XI: Valdés, Mascherano, Puyol, Abidal, Xavi, Cesc, Busquets, Iniesta, Cuenca, Alexis, Messi. |
mukina2:He has been anonymous. Madrid look disjointed without Alonso. |
Vamos Barça |
Some great footie action to look forward to in 2012: CAN 2012 in Gabon & Equitorial Guinea Euro 2012 in Poland & Ukraine London 2012 Olympics |
Ahmed Musa - He's our most relied-upon player. He plays at almost every level for Nigeria and yet, always delivers. |
