Barcelona 3 vs Man Utd 3(1998/1999): Barca were trailing 3-2 deep into stoppage time when Zenden's cross from the left was chested down by Rivaldo with his back to goal and then a spectacular over head kick from outside the box to level the score 3-3. |
How does that translate into Torres being a failure? Before Torres went to Chelsea, Chelsea were playing badly. At some point they went on a run of one win in 6 games. Now he's at Chelsea, they're still playing badly. I don't know why Torres is being singled out. People are just looking for a scape goat. And for those making a meal out of Torres' goal drought, Rooney, last year played over 1000 minutes without scoring a goal. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2010/aug/20/wayne-rooney-goal-drought-manchester-united If Torres is a failure, what do we call Rooney? |

Nice one AJ. Juventus 3 Real Madrid 1(2002/03): What a game! Madrid had won the first leg 2-1 at the Bernabeu but trust The Dirty Old Lady, they stunned the champions at the Delle Alpi. What I really love about this game is that Nedved's third goal. The way he ghosted past Hierro and the shot that followed, definitely a collectors item. Barca 4 vs Arsenal 1 2009/2010) One finest ever displays of individual brilliance in football. Messi showed the world why he's considered by many as the G.O.A.TReal Madrid 3 vs Valencia 0(1999/2000): The all Spanish final. One of the most exciting CL finals. Madrid were awesome on the night and the way Raul rounded Canizares for the third goal was just brilliant. Liverpool 3 vs Milan 3(2004/2005): This is the match that taught us all that it's never over until the fat lady sings. More to follow |
No, Barca vs Schalke |
Let's go there. . . CL Classico |
Mourinho's laugh at Sandro's dive really cracked me up |
^^ You took that right outta ma mouth. It's just that it's Schalke in place of Leverkusen |
Spurs, hopeless as usual |
Raul - 73 goals in all European competitions. Surely, Inter are dead! |
OK! Lemme join the convo: I think John Morrison is very good looking, no homo. I think he's sexier than Randy Orton. I think Edge's wack. The only thing I like about him is his music - Metalingus by Alter Bridge. I heard he's retired by the way. |
Here are my top 5 nominees: 1. Lionel Messi 2. Cristiano Ronaldo 3. Andres Iniesta 4. Daniel Alves 5. Carlos Tevez |

Wicker Chair - Kings of Leon These guys are the ish! |
I can't believe it's a year already. Taking you away from this earth is one life's most cruel deeds. You'll forever be remembered. RIP Omo Ogun |
Our 5th s/final in 6 years. We definitely are the most consistent team in Europe Guys, do you know how the CL classico will go? Is it gonna be Bernabeu first then Camp Nou or the other way round? I seriously pray it's the former |
I won't bet against Inter coming back from the dead |
Nothing for Spurs |
Yes! We are there! Our first away win in the k/o stages of the CL under Pep and it came at the mythical Donbass Arena where Shakthar had never lost in the league until last weekend and had never lost in Europe until tonight. I was surprised we fielded a strong side but in the end, we won and we qualified, and that's all that matters. Meanwhile, Villa's goal drought continues. The last time he scored was against Arsenal at The Emirates. . . 48 goals for Messi - a Barcelona record. No Barca player has ever scored these much goals in one season. The previous record of 47 goals was held by Messi and Ronaldo de Lima. |
medjai:League goal? Notts County play in the League One, Aris Saloniki are an unheralded side in the Greek league. . . Are goals against these sides supposed to be taken seriously especially when you are considered a world class finisher and you come with a £28m or thereabout price tag? |
AjanleKoko:Espanyol too. They were in the all Spanish Uefa Cup final 2007, lost to Sevilla. They sold a couple of key players in the last transfer window - Didac Vila to Milan and Victor Ruiz to Napoli - but they are still holding on. I love the way they play, they have a good midfield. I'd love them to qualify but whichever team qualifies deserves it. |
^^I also would love Pep to give Fontas a chance tonight. He has impressed in the games he featured in so far and he even scored in the win against Rubin. |

When will Edin Dzeko score? |
What of Dzeko, he has played more minutes than Torres and is yet to score a league goal. He was on for 90 minutes yesterday and couldn't even get a sniff of goal. Benzema scored 9 goals in his first season with Madrid. Of course, he must have gone over 690 minutes without a goal lize Dzeko ![]() |
Great! EFCC should be on the alert. We must hear what happened to the N9bn he couldn't account for. |
dayokanu:The post by nateevs says the assits came from Benayoun, how many times has Benayoun featured this season? This only lends credence to my view that Chelsea's midfield is dead and lack any form of creativity. dayokanu:Torres has only played 690 minutes for Chelsea, I don't understand why you are in a hurry to label him a flop. How many goals did Benzema score in his first season with Madrid? Gomez in his first season with Bayern? Torres, a failure for Spain? Despite Spain's vast wealth of attacking talents, he has remained a permanent feature over the years. If he were poor, he'd have been dropped, it's that simple. |
