SportsRe: Osaze Odemwingie Lashes Out At Siasia On Twitter by medjai(m): 4:21pm On Apr 01, 2011
I'm 101% behind Osaze on this one. This was exactly what I was talking about when Siasia was appointed SE coach; arrogance and high handedness. It was this same arrogance and high handedness that made him fail as Flying Eagles coach in Egypt 2009 when out of pride, he dropped some key players in the squad and the team went ahead to perform woefully at that competition.
Osaze is one of the few players or about the only player that wears his heart on his sleeve when he dons the green jersey of Nigeria. What is Siasia's problem? We all know Osaze was injured before the Ethiopia game. He refused to play an inconsequential friendly and it has become an issue.
Siasia had better carve a fine line between being reasonable and being disciplined or else, it would be his greatest undoing.

“It's happy times for Real Madrid. We have reached April with a chance to win every competition. The basketball team is in a similar situation. It is only one step away from its first Final Four in 15 years. The academy is in great shape being that we have 14 players who are playing for Spain's youth teams, which is more than any club. Castilla are playing great football and the U-19 side just won its league title."

"I have always felt comfortable at Real Madrid. My role is more of an institutional one now compared to before and my job entails matters that are not only related to sports. I said I would distance myself from the team following the Copa del Rey match against Sevilla and I have done just that."

"Mourinho is the leader of a team that continues improving from a football standpoint and I am sure it will bring us many glorious afternoons. He feels protected by the club and feels more comfortable every day, as he himself recently stated. That goal has been accomplished and that is what it is all about being that he is an important person within the club. The team is more competitive each day."

"I have a close relationship with Florentio Perez. I have a lot of faith in him and I feel comfortable and secure. He has not changed as a person. He continues thinking big and continues loving this club. He is very demanding and he lays out the strategy. He knows exactly what Real Madrid members want and time has proven him right."

"Fans are going to show profound respect for Ronaldo during Saturday's tribute before the match. He provided this club with a lot of thrills. We want fans to give him the farewell he deserves and for him to take the honorary kick-off. He left many fond memories here."

"We are a lot closer to extended Pepe's contract, but there will not be any news until May. We are confident Pepe will stay at Real Madrid

Real Madrid ban Shakira songs from the Bernabeu
Shakira songs are not going to be played at the Bernabeu again.

Real Madrid will not play any songs of pop sensation Shakira from now on at the Santiago Bernabeu during home fixtures.

Reports in the Spanish dailies Marca and AS claim that no songs from the Colombian musician will be played at the ground prior to matches.

No explanation has been given by Madrid but there are suspicions in the Spanish media that this situation has arisen because of Shakira’s relationship with Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Shakira and Pique’s romantic relationship has now been made public with photos of the couple making the rounds in the media. Given the rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid, it’s been suggested that the Blancos will now stop giving airtime to the 34-year-old’s songs at their venue.

Shakira, though, is a self-confessed Madrid fan and was presented with the number 5 shirt by Florentino Perez during his first tenure as president of the nine-time European champions.

Kaduna Utd sign four players

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Kaduna United, completed the signing of four new players in the ongoing mid-season transfer window on Wednesday.
The club’s spokesman, Abdulrahman Tonga, disclosed to SuperSport.com that the four players include Kingsley Elechi from Niger Tornadoes while the trio of Peter Dogara, Kehinde Oyinlola and Bashir Ayuba were brought in from amateur clubs.
The quartet is said to have been training regularly with the club since the start of this season’s campaign.
“We have signed four players. One of them is Kingsley Elechi, who last played for Niger Tornadoes. The others are Bashir Ayuba, Peter Dogara and Kehinde Oyinlola from amateur clubs.
“The four players have been with the team and have been training regularly with the team. But the coaching crew has decided to give them contracts ahead of the second round of the season as backup for the squad since Kaduna United will play in the league, (Orange Caf) Confederation Cup and the FA Cup,” Tonga offered.
The contract documents and particulars of the four players will be forwarded to the NPL secretariat in Abuja by the management of Kaduna United, according to Tonga.
The club’s image-maker, however, said that the four players might not be the last additions to the Premier League campaigners, as head coach Maurice Cooreman and his backroom staff are still looking at a number of other players undergoing screening at the Kaduna team.

NPL clubs disagree over N350m

Indications have emerged that club officials in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) are divided over plans by the former title sponsor, Globacom Nigeria Limited, to pay N350 million instead of the whole of N923 million from last season’s fee.
Naijaligue..com understands that ahead of the Premier League congress billed to hold in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, some clubs are disputing that the sum of N350 million should not be accepted.
A top official in the NPL secretariat hinted that after a meeting between the Club Owners Association of Nigeria (Coan) and the sports minister, Professor Taoheed Adedoja, it was said the former title sponsor is ready to pay only N350 million from almost N1 billion of the debt it owes from the title sponsorship for the 2009/2010 season.
When the representatives of the NPL club owners communicated the outcome of the meeting with the sports minister to other owners, a number of them demanded that the N350 million is acceptable while others frowned at the bargain.
It has been learned that the representatives of the 20 clubs are in Abuja and a number of them are locked in a meeting ahead of the NPL congress billed to hold on Wednesday just as the Premier League board convened another meeting over the same issue on Tuesday.
The clubs demanding that the N923 million are angry that the NPL was hoodwinked into accepting a N100 million loan from a bank (name withheld) allegedly belonging to the title sponsor.
The NPL has already incurred an interest of more than N120 million on the loan it collected last term from the said bank.
Even if the NPL is paid the title sponsorship of N923 million, it will have to cough out the sum of over N200 million for the loan as well as pay up several debts running into millions of naira.
This is now the bone of contention of some club representatives, who do not want their names mentioned by Naijaligue..com in order not to be used as scapegoats by the influential representatives in the club owners’ body running the show.
Already, Naijaligue..com learned that the ranks have been broken among club representatives ahead of Wednesday meeting.
According to an official of a northern club representing his side in the congress, the outcome of NPL assembly could sway in favour of accepting or rejecting the N350 million as at Tuesday afternoon.
But the club official believes that nocturnal meetings expected to hold among the top shots of the club owners from Tuesday to Wednesday morning could sway the decision leading to the acceptance of the N350 million bait dangled at the NPL.

SportsRe: Skills Needed As A Half Back Defender by medjai(m): 7:32am On Mar 31, 2011
Kgdavid:
u'v got your wing numbers all wrong, half backs are 2 and 3. these are the players who play on the flanks of the defence eg taye taiwo. centre backs are 4 and 5 these are the players who play in the centre of defence. 6 is the defensive midfielder who usually plays right in front of the defence.
now as a half back you do need to be
1.Good tackling. as a full back you will come up against skilfull players in one on one situations and you will need to be able to stop them for if they succesfully dribble past you, your teams flank will be exposed.
2.Fast. most wingers are really fast so you will need to be fast enough to keep up with them or you will find them sprinting past you again leaving your teams flank exposed. depending on your teams tactics you will likley be also expected to bomb forward and support in attack from time to time.
3.Able to read the game/good positioning. you need to be able to predict the runs of your opponent and close down the space he would have used to exploit your flank. often good marking is enough to take a winger out of the game.
4.Good crossing ability. as stated above you will be required to bomb forward and assist the attack usually by delivering crosses wen your winger has moved in or is tightly marked.
5.Some dribbling ability. again this is connected to your function of bombing forward, yu will need to be able to dribble past opposing defenders as you make your way forward.

for central defender you need three basic skills
1. good heading ability!!! this is paramount
2.good positioning/marking/game reading.
3.good tackling.

the two most important aspects of central defending are being able to clear arial balls and being able to intercept balls on the ground before they reach the striker in a dangerous position. both require the centre back to be a good reader of the game.
No Kgdavid.
1 - Goalkeeper
2- Right-back, 3-Left-back: They're generally referred to as fullbacks or wingbacks depending on how they are deployed.
4- Defensive midfielder
5- Centre-back, 6-Centre-back: They're also known as half-backs
7- Right winger
8- Support striker
9- Striker
10- Attacking midfielder
11- Left winger.

Diamond formation is a modified version of the classic 4-4-2. While all the midfielders lie flat in the classic 4-4-2, the defensive midfielder is more withdrawn and the attacking midfielder is more advanced in the diamond formation. It's also called 4-1-2-1-2.
In the early days of its use at Chelsea, Essien was the defensive midfielder. He played Ballack and Lampard on the right and left side of the midfield respectively while Deco spearheaded the diamond.

Bojan injured in spain under 21 game against Belarus

According to Catalan based newspaper Sport, Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic (20) has sustained an injury in the friendly match between the Under 21 teams of Spain and Belarus in the Spanish city of Alcalá de Henares.

The Belarusian player Vertilo harshly tackled Bojan early during the game which, although he was able to continue playing, made him ask the Spanish U21 team coach Luis Milla to substitute him. Bojan was able to finish the first half but was substituted off for Iker Munian during half time. On Tuesday, when he will have returned to Barcelona, he will be examined to figure out the seriousness of his injury. Then it will be known for sure if the injury is only a slight one, or another misfortune and disappointment for the Blaugrana and their coach.

2 goals in his last two games after a very lengthy barren spell, his near dead confidence takes a massive boost and then injury sets in. Nothing worse could have happened to Bojan, I feel so sorry for him. Hope he isn't out for too long.

@topic,
chelsea is abort presenting england with a brazil exptension at senior level just like arsenal is doing for frence at junior level.
we are after neymar who has confirmed his readiness this time after listening to his parents last summer when we went for him. the progress of luiz and ramirez is a good news to the brazilian team so we expect more of them.
since the owner of chelsea is not as stingy as the arsenal community, we will raid brazil of quality players in our readiness to bring in class into england.
up chelsea, up roman, up myself because the sky was, is and will remain blue. blue is the colour.
Maybe you don't remember:

Robinho(Man City)
Mario Jardel(Bolton)
Sylvinho(Man City)
Geovani(Hull City)
Baptista(Arsenal)
I can go on and on. Just a handful of Brazilians have done well in England.

This self-centered Sergio Baptista has insisted on playing Messi again on the rubbish friendly with Costa Rica. It is a shame that while other national team coaches are resting and sending some of the crucial players back to their club, ahead of a crucial champions league week, Baptista bent on tapping all available strenght from Messi. He knows he could do the costa rica thing well without him and barca officials seems to be helpless. Be that as it may, Messi's love for his country can never be his undoing. He will grow from strenght to strenght and by God's grace, perform at his optimal best for club come next week. RM has already recalled all their players and they are resting, though performances on-field does not depend on how long u rest.

Messi is the best!
Capello also released the English players that have Champions League assignment. I don't know why Batista is hell bent on playing Messi.

Joao Havalange, his predecessor, spent 24 years in office. Personally, I have no problem with Blatter remaining FIFA president. He has done very well for football and for Africa. It is in his tenure that participating teams in the world cup was increased to 32 teams, giving Africa, Asia and Central America; places where football isn't really developed a better representation and thereby enhancing the development of football in these places. It's in his tenure that the world cup has come to Africa and Asia and will go to Eastern Europe and the Middle East
, for the first time, making it a real world cup.
He should give room to a new person? Will you rather he hands over to Bin Hamman that has no clue on what it takes to run a body as big as FIFA?
SportsRe: Siasia: 442 Is Not The Answer by medjai(m): 10:08am On Mar 29, 2011
Chelsea won the English league and cup with a 4-4-2 system.
I believe coaches should be flexible as regards formation; there's no perfect formation.
