Her voice has thrilled and inspired millions of radio listeners across the country. But recently, she was in the news when she quit her job at Wazobia FM, after 11 eventful years.

In this interview, award-winning broadcaster, Omotunde Adebowale David aka Lolo 1, opens up on why she quit her radio job, challenges of motherhood and future plans among other issues. Enjoy it.

How has 2019 been for you?

Fabulous! I transited from one job to the other, the year has not been as tasking as I expected. But I have accomplished a bit more. Before the end of the year, you will see me releasing my movies. This year will see me doing my comedy combat and my stage play, so it has been a good year.

Tell us about growing up.

Would I say I was born with a silver spoon? I don’t know. Maybe, sliver or should I say bronze? I come from the average family of the late ’80s when we had a very strong middle class; so I think I wasn’t born poor. Dad was a printer who had his own printing company. My upbringing was basically in the boarding house for a long time. I went to the boarding house when I was in primary 3 and I stayed till I finished secondary school. I spent a lot of time in boarding school, so it made me very independent. You know, being away from home for a very long time when I was young made me very independent, and today, I can say I am a one-man army (laughter).

Your quitting Wazobia FM took fans by surprise. What informed that decision and what’s your next plan?

Wazobia FM has been such a blessing to me and I am so excited for all the advancements; but no matter how much you love your brand, the desire to grow cannot be suppressed, and that is what I am doing. I want to keep aspiring as new opportunities open up. Even though, I am doing something new, I am not ready to give it off now because it is still cooking. But then it is still in line with radio.

You’ve been in broadcasting for the past 15 years, what were the high points?

I started out with Metro (FM) where I cut my teeth. That was where I went on air for the first time with Modele Ope and met the likes of Delight Alfred, Frank Edoho and Charles Anozodo. Wazobia FM changed a lot for me.  I had my first set of awards and the job gave me access to big names and celebrities. I don’t think there is any A-list artiste that I have not interviewed. I had the privilege of interviewing ambassadors and even the vice president and traveled extensively. It has been an amazing and rewarding journey with so many high points.

How about the low points?

When I started pidgin broadcasting, I had an experience. I have done English programming for a long time hence pidgin challenged me at first. I was on Cool FM, doubling as a newsreader when I called Roger Federer ‘Roger Federerer’. Before I knew it, it was in the newspapers how terrible the newscaster was! How I couldn’t pronounce Roger Federer right. It was in a national daily, so you can imagine how devastating it was for me. I remember another instance when I was on radio as a new broadcaster and someone said ‘get that person off the air. She doesn’t know how to speak pidgin’.

Tell us about your role models?

Ruth Benamaisia was one of my role models growing up. I loved watching her on NTA news and I would be like ‘she’s so dark and beautiful’. I also looked up to Ophra Winfrey because she’s everything I dreamt of becoming. Tyler Perry? Yes, when it comes to movies and the kind of movies I would like to produce. Because I do a lot of things, I have different role models. Coming back home to Nigeria, I look up to Funke Akindele because she has done a lot of great stuff.

You starred in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa Diaries. What was it like working with her? Any plans to go into Nollywood fulltime?

I love working for Funke Akindele. She is an amazing producer, costumier, director and everything rolled into one, and she is awesome! She deserves every accolade she is getting today. She is tough on the job but that only helps you get better as long as you are willing to listen to instructions. I am doing Nollywood on a small scale for now, because I still have a regular day job, which is even more challenging.

Tell us about life as a single mother of four and what is your advice for women in your shoes?

Being a single mum has been one of the most challenging roles in my life. It is a situation that nobody desires, but when life happens, you take it as it comes and move on. I always tell everyone it is not easy, so stop labeling any woman or a mother that is nurturing her children on her own. It is not a disease; it is a state of being. You can’t label people just because they are single, married, divorced, aged, coloured or whatever. We just have to treat everyone like the unique individuals they are. I don’t consider myself different because I am a woman. I consider myself hardworking and a human being; it is not really about my gender. It is tough raising children ....

Nollywood actress, Pat Ugwu aka 'Twerkqueen' in an Instalive video which was deleted almost immediately, exposed her boobs.




The actress who stylishly covered up her boobs with her arms in the early seconds of the Instalive video, had to let go at some point while saying "I'm just being real". She was also heard saying she made the video on a Sunday night.

However the now deleted Instagram video was uploaded on a porn site by an unidentified social media user. The video has already garnered over 4,000 views.

A quick check on Instagram also revealed that she uploaded some raunchy videos in which she partly exposed her private part.

One time, Biggie had to call her to order. Who knew she had such strength. A word of advice; Never pillow fight Jackye, she has enough energy to go all night long.

HipHop Head of The House: Jeff

He knew his music and he made sure the rest of the Pepper Dem Gang knew too. If Jeff wasn’t entangling himself in the duties of being a pacifist, he was lecturing the other Housemates on rap music.

Most Creative Housemate: Joe

Joe shows his depth when it comes to creativity. His paintings were remarkable and even won them Tasks.

The Queen Of The Diary Session: Khafi

This was her world; the other Housemates were only allowed to play in it. Khafi owned each Diary Session that even the rest of the Housemates started a countdown until she came out.

Stunner of The Season: Kimophrah

She also left early, but that didn’t stop us from catching a glimpse of the beautiful stunner. If any of the pictures we've seen of KimOprah outside the House are anything to go by, she's killing it out there too.

We all remember a teenager identified as Emmanuel O. Israel( a.k.a Emzy) who was arrested for posing as the son of billionaire entrepreneur and lawyer, Ned Nwoko. The real father of the teenager has now broken silence about the whole situation.

Addressing the press last weekend in Asaba, the Delta state capital, Mr Okporo Isreal, a civil servant with the Rivers State judiciary, said Emmanuel O. Israel( a.k.a Emzy) 23, is his biological son. Emzy was arrested recently by the police in Mbiama, Ahoada west local government area, North west of Port harcourt, Rivers state at his friend’s place for falsely claiming to be Ned Nwoko Junior in the public, especially in the social media.

Mr Okporo said his son Emzy, “a poor musician saw Ned Nwoko as a rich generous and good natured man “and explored his high profile to seek social relevance. He said Emzy had earlier claimed to be the son of President Mohammadu Buhari.

Mr Okporo pleaded for clemency and noted that exuberance landed his son in trouble.
According to security sources from the Delta state police command , Emzy operated scam Facebook, twitter, WhatsApp and emails to hoodwink the public.

Intelligence reports also revealed that the fake Nwoko’s son had kept physical contacts with several unsuspecting members of the public with dubious promises of securing financial deals and sundry favours to them, with hidden intent to extort.
A native of Rivers state, he has no blood ties with Ned Nwoko. A man with famed moral standing and celebrated integrity.

Emzy was arrested with his sister, Miss Love Israel for criminal impersonation , conspiracy , defamation of character, and conduct likely to threaten public peace. Serious crimes that portend long prison terms.

They would be arraigned in court this week.

Kiki Mordi, the BBC investigative journalist that uncovered the sexual harassment in universities has revealed that she has received subtle threats since the report went viral. Sleekgist reports.

According to the journalist, her interest in the investigation was driven by her personal experience which saw her dropping out of the University and yet to become a graduate.


In a chat with Sahara Reporters, she said;

“I have received subtle threats since this work was completed but I am not bothered because the BBC takes the security of employees seriously.

Before embarking on this project, the team prayed a lot and also sang because it helped to calm the nerves. But I had to go through the trainings I received over and over again because I wanted to get it right.

The biggest goal of this work was to be louder than the aggressor because sexual harassment is very loud. I wanted it to be silenced.

I am happy that a lot is changing already since the documentary was release and I can confirm to you that one of the lecturers at the University of Lagos caught sexually harassing a prospective student has been dismissed by the institution.

I believe it doesn’t stop there until there is a conviction. We have to break that culture of impunity.”

Recall that a month ago, Bobrisky, introduced his late mother and father to fans. The cross-dresser introduced his parents to fans while celebrating the Sallah festival in Ogun state.

And sources confirm that he has been running around pleading with her family members to plead with Laura not to leave him.

According to another source who pleads anonymity, Laura lives off her celebrity blogger sister, Linda Ikeji who foots most of her bills.

Laura in return reportedly stands as the breadwinner of her home as her husband’s source of income albeit unknown allegedly isn't enough to sustain her Instagram lifestyle.

Laura who has stopped posting her husband's pictures and videos for a while is said to be putting up a happy face for the gram while experiencing emotional pain.

However sources say that the split may be temporary and the once happy couple might resolve whatever issue is plaguing their marriage and pose for the gram soon.

The celebrity couple are currently not together at the time of this write up.

A conspiracy against Mercy is allegedly now being plotted by Tacha’s fans who want to help Mike win the show but want a contract signed with Mike’s manager to ensure he gives a percentage of the prize to her.

A voice note has leaked from the Titans’ group chat, revealing plans for Tacha’s manager to meet with Mike’s manager to sign a contract so that they can vote for him to win and Tacha gets a percentage of the prize as compensation.

It is alleged that the voice note was from a Deloitte spy who revealed that Mercy was winning Mike by just 2% and in two days, believes that Tacha’s fans can make the difference and help him win.
