Ttalk:
Yeah, well meaning Nigerians who Tinubu has touched positively are out there campaigning for Asiwaju.

JJ Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo cannot forget the impact of Tinubu in their lives.

Millions of Igbo youth who benefit from Waec payment would not forget Tinubu.

The likes of Akabueze will always return favour to Jagaban.

Unlike some obidients who are shouting online but could not contribute shishi to support Obi's gofund account

Man is expected to help each other and support one another. It is not expected of them to worship them in any ramifications. Going extra mile like Olaiya did is very sad. Even if buys you a house worth 1B, give another 1B and send all your children abroad, their should be decorum has a father.

OK. Tinubu wins. After 8years..how will he and the children feel?

Other way..Tinubu did not win? What happens.

It is too much of "let the sleeping dog lie" that kept Nigeria where it is. A University, caused unnecessary pressure on the young man, denied him of his scholarship which in turn, made him start working in order to pay his fees and as a result of that, his grade dropped even further. Do you know how many jobs he may lose in the future because his grades are not up to the level recruiters want? Do you know that this "sleeping dog" can mar this guy's life?

My first option is for you to get a good lawyer (some will even do it for free and will ask for money when you win the case), and sue the University. This option will likely pay for all damages and future costs in your career. The second option however, is to get back to the scholarship body and explain what happened. You may be lucky to be paid back the amounts you are owed.

When you know a system will not favour you, why test the waters? Yes, getting them to court will go a long way in jurisprudence and keep UNI on their feet.

Remember, the case will linger for so long and you expect the management to treat the guy with kid gloves. He would be labelled. It is what it is. You won't be there when ugly things happen to him.

The guy struggled all his life to obtain this certificate with good grades and you want him to sue the school for an error. Omo, he would graduate and regret why he went to court.

Let the sleeping dog lie. This is where we found ourselves.

Witchunting at it's peak

Let the sleeping dog lie my brother. Thank God you have moved on. Just ensure you make necessary corrections before your last paper.

Let me relate

I requested for a copy of my transcript to a UNI for my PG years ago. The course in the cover letter was different from that of my transcript. I was called from the PG school to contact my UNI. Can you believe I paid another transcript fee and courier charges for an error I didn't know anything about? In saner climes, I would be compensated. In Nigeria, you can loose all the years of struggle.

Just let it go. Better days ahead...

So I'm just curious, with the so much support from the LP supporters, what happens if Peter Obi becomes president and we begin to hear stories year in and year out how APC government have looted Nigeria purse dry.

BTW, I'm asking as a curious citizen. I don't belong to any political party and presently not supporting anyone for now.

It's a good question.

Personally, I would be disappointed and agree with OBJ that, even if God comes down to rule Nigerians, it would be herculean.

List some of these scenarios where the birth mother is still alive without reference to OP's case.

When the mother is deemed to be unfit (medically or non-medical)

Verbal agreement by either parties due to reasons best know to them.

Coercion

Circumstances beyond the mother ( for example -want to get married and the new husband says, he cannot train another person's child, change of environment and the child c an hindrance at the beginning with the hope of coming back to pick up etc)

Etc

Judgmental;? Okay, share on what basis can an extended family member have custody of a child that has at least one birth parent alive?

In many scenarios, the extended family can take custody of the subject. I would not want to divulge because, I'd be intruding on OP's privacy.

However, for learning purpose, there is a principle in social work called -self individualization- every case can never be the same no matter how closely related hence, they should be treated differently. Every case has its own intervention and resolution. That's why I said, until you bring both parties together, you can never be too sure why the extended family have the custody of the subject.

Yes, it is wrong especially when the subject is a minor but due to some reasons known to both parties, the custody is with the extended family. I can assure you, if this case gets to the social welfare agency, it will be resolved in less than 24rs after the joint sessionn

Not necessarily true.. the mom is the primary custodian.. so the extended family is keeping the baby without his mother’s consent. We’re talking about legal custody here not welfare. Dont get it mixed up

Legal custody is handled by the family court. Probation officers (welfare officers) are like lawyers in this court. Registered lawyers rarely hold briefs for clients in this court.

To get custody of a child, the welfare officer will take charge. Not lawyers, nor police or anyone but social workers in the Welfare Agency.

This is more of a custody issue. The South African High Commission in Nigeria would be involved as the child is also South African by birth through his mother with a South African issued birth certificate.

The birth father of the child is now late, his relatives have no legal basis to have custody of the child when his birth mother is still alive and involved to an extent in the child's life.

There is still no way you deal with custody issues if you don't involve social welfare services. As I said, the general public needs proper sensitization on social welfare services. If custody will be awarded to any party, there must be an agreement which is the memorandum of understanding and if it cannot be resolved, social welfare will refer them to the family court. After adjudication, the social welfare services will still write to the South African Embassy on the outcome to proof the mother has been awarded full/partial custody. SA will use this to process the subject's travelling document to leave Nigeria.

The first step remains to involve the social welfare department in the state.

Bolded..says who? Don't be judgemental. Because you read the case here does not mean that is the fact. Experience has revealed that everyone is a saint in every issue until proven otherwise. Let her come forward with facts, she will be heard without bias.

This is not a social welfare case, but child kidnap and endangerment. It’s better you’re empowered by a legal authority. Nigerians dont respect agreement with biting teeth

It is a social welfare issue. If you read to the end, the legal authority on welfare matters is the family court. Before going to court, all other resolution means must have been tried. If it fails, the court will do the needful.

Lummoni:
I hop someone will be able to assist.
So my Aunt is a South African woman who was married to a Nigerian man she met in South Africa.

They had a child & when he turned 9 months her husband suggested they visit his family in Nigeria.

A few hours before leaving for the airport back to South Africa, his parents sat her down and told her the baby would have to stay.

After many words & tears her father in law and husband assured her that he would be back in a 6 months to fetch the baby.

True to his word, 6 months later my Uncle in law returned to Nigeria to fetch his children, but 2 days after he arrived he got seriously sick & passed on a few days later.

My Aunt traveled to Nigeria to lay him to rest & had to extend her stay because her in laws kept giving her the run around about why she couldn't take her child (apparently some rituals had to be done for the child since his father had just passed).

She eventually left after her father in law warned her that if she keeps pushing, they (his wife a daughter) would do to her what was done to her husband.

Fast forward 11 years later, her father in law, & mother in law are both late, she sends money to Nigeria every month for her sons upkeep but her sister in law is withholding the child, does not allow him to communicate with her.

When a neighbor tries to let him speak with his mother, they beat him up, sometimes he doesn't go to school and has to go sell water at the market.

My Aunt has tried going with the Nigerian police but failed, has involved the Nigerian embassy but they are dragging their feet. We really do not know what else to do.

Why would they withholding someone's child (a mother who desperately wants her child back) when they can't even take care of his needs.

Maybe someone has been through a similar experience and may be able to help with suggestions of how to get the child back to his mother.

People don't know social welfare departments in State are working due to non-challant attitude of civil servants coupled with a lack of proper communication between the general public and the government.

Visit any social welfare office nearest to you, insist you want to see the Director. Explain your predicament. A joint session will be called between parties where an amicable solution will be raised with more emphasis on the child. Afterwards, parties will sign a memorandum of understanding and if parties don't agree on terms, they will be referred to the family court for adjudication. The case comes to a close.

Police rarely involve themselves in social welfare issues.

Politics / Re: The Analysis, Can Tinubu Actually Win Lagos? by meetme01: 6:48pm On Nov 26, 2022
kingmaster2009:

Lagos State is a representation of entire Nigeria ...
Your analysis lacks credibility...

The reason why tinubu will win Lagos state is that
1. He has the state governor's backing
2..which is the most important one is that Atiku and Jonathan got that figure when we only had two options....now, there are three options

We have Atiku, Peter Obi, and Tinubu
In 2015, the vote of the Yiibo people and PDP was given.to Atiku but in 2023, Yiibo people will vote for Obi, Which will drastically reduce the percentage of votes Atiku had in 2015, While Tinubu will still maintain his structure in Lagos State

It's analysis, no fight or names calling.

I want to believe lot of factors will change the tide of voting in 2023. Sincerely yours, thr Buhari administration has done more harm to APC than good. PMB's body language is also not in favour of his party.

If it were BAT to be in power, he won't assent to the electoral law nor accept the change in our currency. Not for selfish interest but that's how he plays his politics. No offense.

You see BVAS, awareness of people on electoral process, state of the economy and negative news on Tinubu are all factors to consider in the 2023 elections. The learned are ready to vote. Youths are ready to vote. These group of people rarely vote in past elections.

Permutations and calculations, there is still more job for APC at the center to do before elections. People are not happy. If that anger lingers tull next year, hmmm..my brother BAT may looses heavily in the South West.

Why I didn't use past results to measure the future is because things have changed. The electoral law alone has made everything (rigging) difficult. The number of voters especially amongst youths have increased so much. The economy was always in good shape when election is coming but next election, people are not smiling.

Let's see how it unfolds but it's bleak for APC candidates across board except Ogun where the Governor is playing a smart game with the parties. Blocked APM. Sent opposition to court .

Can you list the white elephant's projects?

Amosun used 8 uninterrupted years to do that while he used 3½ interrupted years due to Covic 19 to accomplish alll these. Let us compare after he finishes his second year.

Don't bring trash to our sensibility. I will say it again, the people of Ogun State are angry with Dapo including civil servants and pensioners. As I said earlier, let him maintain decorum till he wins Feb election which is certain due to lack of opposition.

If he dares push this statements over and over, trust me, he would bury his political career himself. Mark my words.

Ogun State is blessed with companies around Ota axis. Yes, its FG road but if he came prepared, that should have been the first road to construct which would generate enough funds. Remember, that was the axis that gave him the seat. He became lackadaisical till last minute and you tak about COVID. Is Ogun the only State affected by COVID-19?

Let him enjoy his second term in peace and we hope same government will not be posed on us again on Ogun.
Politics / Re: Dapo Abiodun: I’ve Constructed More Roads Than Amosun, Daniel, Osoba by meetme01: 12:31pm On Nov 20, 2022
His aides should manage what they put outside especially news that will refer to past administrations. The same issue Osoba faced will likely befall him if his press are not properly managed.

He got 70% assurance of re-election because he got no strong opposition but if the indigenes hear his tantrums on past administration, February is not far and things can change. He shouldn't give opposition words or statements they will capitalise upon

He just needs to do his job on a low key before things awkward turn around.

My advice.

i can't but ask myself this question every day, does Peter Obi stands a chance against the the likes of Tinubu and Atiku?
Labour party has just 1 senator in the house while APC has the majority [61] PDP with the minority (38 or 39)
honestly Obi have a lot of work to do...just my own perspective....feel free to drop yours..

You see one thing about the 2023 election is that, the electoral law has set a new pace. Politicians shot themselves alot and thanks to Buhari for his assent. Whoever believed Lawan and Akpabio will be in court fighting for a seat? A whole Senate President and Minister.

BVAS will render ballot hijack and reduce over voting to the barest minimum. The result online must tally with what the Prof will pronounce. Any objection, court straight and the electoral will do justice to it.

Tech introduction with the uploading of result at the polling unit is another strategy. In the comfort of your room, you can download and do your calculation. Hijack ballot box are your peril.

Now you can check voters register online which has identified lots of underage voters in many states.

Voters are more wiser. They now understand governance than never before. Thanks to social media. They can now measure candidates with their words and hold the accountable while you verify on the internet. A lot of information hidden to the public is now in public glare.

There is no yardstick to measure if a candidate like PO stand a chance. All contestants stand a chance in this era. All you need is to put extra effort in your campaign. That's all.

2023 election has taken a new dimension. It's a good pedestal for our country and democracy. Next election, contestants will check their cupboards, party, tick boxes before they purchase the form because electorates are ready to drill and check your underground cupboard to avoid stain.

We are getting there gradually. It will never be like past elections again. Once again, thanks to Buhari.

Maybe I'll try sending an email to the embassy at UK.

Then as regards the travel, won't the current Visa ban for Nigerians traveling UAE affect stopover? Or UAE generally doesn't require transit visa

On Emirates, you don't require transit visa

2) What are the general recommendations as regards flight booking, how do I avoid areas that require transit Visas like UK & US?

3) any word of caution and advice to make my visa application and travel smoother?

I'd really appreciate feedback from anyone who has recently traveled to Dominican republic with a Nigerian passport.

Every other general advice & recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

One love
Thanks.

I collected the visa twice wayback. I had to send my passport to UK. Not sure, if they still do the same process. Find their contact online, send a mail and their response will guide.

1. You need a visa.

2. You don't need transit visa. Just book your flight through Emirate. It will book UAE - Brazil - Santo Domingo. Very costly though.

3. They ain't strict and they will guide you on required documents.

4. Not sure where there embassy is now but as I said, UK was the last embassy I used to collect my visa.

I didn't go due to flight price but my hommie has been there for 8years. Married and doing fine.

Sincerely, Soludo played to the gallery. Still new in office and political witchunting shouldn't he at his door step till few years in office. He got it very wrong with all his words.

First, he forgot internet never forgets.

Second, he forgot his statement or ally with any political party aside APGA could jeopardise is governance and second term in Anambra.

Third, he forgot Nigeria'd politics is dirty. Those who hail you today will speak evil of you tomorrow and open cankerworms. Ask FFK.

Fourth, he is not GOD. Mamora said, it will take miracle for PO to win. PO replied, my political sojourn has always been a miracle. I believe we can testify to this. Soludo just played God. There are words you shouldn't utter at this time. Silence is golden.

Fifth, he forgot, Nigeria will pick the topic and in 48hrs, it will be gone and another on board for discussion but his words will continue to hurt him till he apologise.

Sixth, he forgot if miracle happens, he will forever regret his words. This is not time for same region to fight one another rather, support each other.

No one ever believed PO can change the tide of electioneering in Nigeria. He won Ngige and waited for years to reclaim his mandate. He produced the first female governor.

God knows, Soludo need to thread carefully going forth else, he would forever regret his words.
