Dr. Aluko is first and foremost a nationalist who strongly believes that, with patience, tolerance and willingness to understand the truth about the Nigerian polity, almost all problems facing the nation today can be sorted out amicably. He considers the diversity of our multicultural society as an asset that ought to be exploited for the betterment of all rather than as a liability that should mesmerize and paralyze us. His engagement in politics appeared to be guided by moral and ethical principles by which he holds himself accountable for his actions. It was noteworthy that the economist politician did not consider his choice to serve in the Abacha administration as an egregious mistake. He was called for national service in the field of his competence and he responded positively as a patriotic citizen. For that he has no apologies to offer to anyone. His admirers at this reception, particularly those from the Southwest, may not have been pleased by his stance on this matter. I was impressed by the palpable enthusiasm and candor that underlay Professor Aluko’s freewheeling discourse on issues that pervaded all aspects of the Nigerian society with barely any prompting. |

Just got back from a burial in that state and must confess that the whole place was like a construction site. To be fair, Rochas is working, certainly this is a far cry from the status quo and evidence abound everywhere. Imo is working, simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee (Hardly seems worth it.) If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Now that's more like it!) The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet. (O.M.G.!) A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. (In my next life, I want to be a pig.) A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.) (I'm still not over the pig.) Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories a hour (Don't try this at home, maybe at work) The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off. (Honey, I'm home. What the, ?!) The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field. (30 minutes, lucky pig! Can you imagine?) The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds. (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?) Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (I still want to be a pig in my next life, quality over quantity) Butterflies taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.) The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. (Hmmmmmm, ) Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people. (If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?) Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (Still want 2 b the pig) A cat's urine glows under a black light. (I wonder who was paid to figure that out?) An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that) Starfish have no brains (I know some people like that too.) Polar bears are left-handed. (If they switch, they'll live a lot longer) Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure. (What about that pig??) Now that you've smiled at least once, it's your turn to spread these crazy facts and send this to someone you want to bring a smile to, maybe even a chuckle. In other words, send it to everyone! (and God love that pig!) |

FG orders them to avoid humanitarian crisis , Frankly, because of a few things I know and which I cannot begin to discuss here, I should not get into this thread. But I am stepping in briefly for some lights on the permutation you put across. Number one: Yes, some governors and some NASS members have been working to achieve some evacuation, though have yet to do so. Yet, some governors stoutly refused to be involved. The FG demanded that no refugee situation must be created in the East. Three governors firmly accepted and one has issued a secret order that there would be no kind of congregation in the urban centres. The decoy was the strike, though it also tallied. You see the meanness and hypocrisy? Remember the work: Pogrom and kinship in Igboland? Thesis indicating that because Ndiigbo who left the North had comfortable villages where they quickly settled, they were not seen and recorded by international observers and so lost the chances of proving to the world that they were heavily dislocated from the North. FG is exploiting it, failing to protect Ndigbo but at the same time ordering that those who return must not be assembled in camps or churches, open places, etc. FG will not help and will never allow any semblance of refugee community to attract international interests. Your frustration at Igbo obduracy and sit-tight disposition in the North is understandable. It is more annoying that as the fire gobbles more people, some still think they can be immune. On the fear of large scale humanitarian crisis, I think the worry is over taken by events. It is better to grapple with the crisis than to have Igbos continue to die like chickens in the hands of mad Mullahs. Indeed, after reading the book, 'Kinship system and management of refugees in Igbo land, 1966', I relaxed. We can absorb it, though with some sharp departures from the norm. I think, in addition to whatever efforts we make, we must sensitise our communities to move, discreetly, to rescue their people. My community just concluded rescue of our people in Kano, Kaduna and nearby posts. As I make this post, our buses left Sokoto, to collect those in Kebbi Barracks, some parts of Niger, etc, on the way to Ala Igbo. Last night, a team, on my prompting and promise of extra pay, detached from the main convoy and stormed the Ezinna family of my elder brother's wife in Argungu and bundled them into the vehicles. They have just reconnected at Birnin Kebbi Army Barracks, where Igbos are massed as refugees in their own country. Truth is that unless you ask, you may never know the extent of Igbo spread in the North. Never give up on our people. BY OUR INSIDER COMMENT: We are alarmed if the SE governors will allow FGN to intimidate them in this way. The war is a long time ago and I feel Igbos especially those in government should start insisting on their rights. If FG is failing in its duty to protect Igbos from the mad Muslims and also fail to rescue them from the troubled spots, what right do they have to tell the govs what to do with the refugees when they come down East? Is it not NEMA's role to rescue these them? What are our Govs afraid of? Why must our Govs/Learders always think about themselves before their people? Who will help us if they can't? |

There comes a time in a nation history when men desirous of better change rise, take necessary action for benefit of fellow country men. Bakare is one of the numerous men and women who have taken the bull by the horn several times in our clouded history. |

Hi Siena, My VW Jetta 2002 model suddenly lost power on the highway sometime back. The EPC light and check engine came on immediately. Computer diagnosis stated that the ECU (BRAINBOX) was bad. After buying another ECU, i'm now been told to replace the entire dashboard because the new ECU could not be programmed to work with the old dashboard. Right now, i'm so frustrated that i'm on the verge of selling it off as scrap because no one could even fathorm the real solution to this Jetta. Please help bro, |
How much is it going for? |
A South African lady(Sonette Ehlers) has invented a new device that is called RAPEX. Its an anti rape device trap with rows of razor sharp hooks, its designed to be worn internally by women. It latches to the penis during penetration and can only be removed by a doctor. With this kind of device made available for women, won’t they start adapting to RAPE? |
