Erroneous teaching. Study the bible for yourself and refuse to be put in bondage by those who desire to control men rather than be led by the Spirit.

Career / Broadening Vs Specialization: Different Approaches To Career Advancement. by megainvest: 9:29pm On Dec 25, 2016
As you advance in your professional career, time will come when you will have to make this decision. You can decide to specialise in a particular subject area eg If you are a Computer Scientist, you can take up a Masters degree / PhD in Data Analytics. If you choose to go for broadening instead, you may decide to go for an MBA.

Both paths have their advantages and disadvantages. If you choose to specialise, you will enjoy the benefits of becoming an expert or authority in a particular subject area. You can also become a consultant or even a lecturer (depending on your experience).

Being a specialist has its own drawbacks. In very large organizations for example, people who specialise too deeply in a particular area may be perceived as not having enough exposure in other areas of the business to lead multidisciplinary teams.

On the other hand, if you choose to broaden your skills, you may be better positioned for leadership roles especially in large organizations where different experts work together. However, you may be perceived as lacking depth if you do not have a particular area of specialization.

The big question on my mind today is "Can a person balance both?". I think it is possible but it may take a long time. You may start out as a specialist but as you climb up the ladder and towards the peak of your particular profession, you may decide to broaden in order to enhance your leadership skills. This may not be very easy to achieve in certain professions eg Medical / Health profession where specialization takes a long time to achieve.

Have you been faced with this sort of choice and what did you do?

Remember that this whole thing started when the people decided to follow the so called "revolution" craze that swept through the region. Some ignorant Nigerians were even in support of it. It is a lesson to everyone. Peaceful resolution will always be better than violent revolution anytime, anyday.

Thank you very much OP. I have noticed this myself for quite some time now. If you are in Port Harcourt and still think this is a joke, try this:

Use a piece of tissue paper or your handkerchief to wipe the insides of your nostrils gently. You will likely find these particles on it.

Lets make this thread go viral. We need answers!

Anyway I will use the money for a better deal. This NSE don tire me grin grin
Still keeping my uba and ucap.

Patience is key. Just make up your mind that no matter how long it takes, you will hold your position until you realise your reasonable target profit. The most important thing is the right entry price. Why the hurry?

THis is one policy I think is wrong on the NSE. They ought to use volume and value of trade. Imagine someone trading say 20,000 units of Forte Oil at N160 per share. This is worth about N3,200,000 yet the price won't move because its not up to 50,000. Yet that same amount will control over 3,000,000 units of say FCMB. It does not give a true picture of investor interest in a particular stock over time and the chart for these kind of stocks are usually full of dots.

Then again I have a feeling this issue might have been discussed here and elsewhere in the past.

FO moves with 10,000 units.

Of all the possible sanctions CBN could have employed, they chose to put further pressure on the naira by stopping banks from accessing Forex! Sometimes you will begin to wonder if these guys think at all or if they are deliberately sabotaging the economy! Anyway, make I go change my dollar!

These pictures are just a glimpse into the ocean of waste at Ajaokuta. I have been there and I can tell you that any sane human who visits that place will be brought close to tears. The facilities in there are enormous. You need to visit there to understand the enormity. That place is capable of changing the face of the manufacturing industry for good.

@megainvest I concur But hardly would anyone wait for 3yr on a stock.

3 years or 5 years is just a number. Anything can happen next week that will send FBNH into a bull market. I am more concerned about my entry price as long as I see that the value is certain. Although, I think I am unusually and extremely patient with stocks. Its kindda my nature and it has proven to be one of the key virtues underpinning my success in this business.

@Megainvest Wat ur take on FBNH ,

I have posted along these lines before but I don't mind repeating myself.
cheesy

I believe that FBNH is a stock to accumulate for the very long term. When I say long term I mean as long as 5 years! Unfortunately, it may not perform well short term. If there is no significant positive news from the oil market, it may crack N3 support in the short term.

The only barrier to FBNH's rise today is its high NPL ratio. CBN will not allow its banking group pay any dividends as long as NPL is over 10%. The day it overcomes that hurdle, you cannot hold it back anymore. Ahead to N10 non stop! That is a whooping 300% upside potential. It occupies a special place in terms of brand positioning, has a very large and loyal customer base, and has one of the largest market shares in terms of e banking.

Recent results after management changes have also shown that the bank is doing very well to beat down its cost of operation and effectively manage its risk. It will be one of the stocks to make a huge comeback if oil ever recovers. Alternatively, if they eventually sell their perennially bad loans to AMCON they can also make a comeback but that will be in the next financial year, all things being equal.

Disclosure:
I have started reloading some units of FBNH in my long term portfolio and I hope to load massively if it crosses below N3.

It is easy to imagine things using hindsight. Seeing the future is often very difficult.

That UCAP pick was made last year after a very rigorous analysis.

The truth about NSE is that it is still very easy to find great bargains because there are too many uninformed and impatient players in the market. If some of these stocks were in more advanced markets, you will not find them cheap. This market will keep creating opportunities for many to be super rich in years to come. Volatility is opportunity!

Like I said, if u focus on this forum well and u have some good cash, u cld make urself rich with ease. Imagine when Megainvest mentioned Ucap...then it was abt N1.45k..u bought large quantity lik N1m worth...its now N2.25k ...it got to N2.85k last month....

Well said. I created a stock pick model which brought UCAP to my attention last year. That model is still making money for me till today. There is a lot of hardwork to be done if one must make it big in this business. Many Nigerians are yet to discover the power of the stock market.

with the way most of y'all comments here, I am forced to think that you guys trade stock on a weekly basis. I always used to think that stock investment was something to be done for a long time say at least a year. I am a novice tho and i want to ask. if truly certain people here buy and sell stocks almost on a daily basis, how do you do it without boring your broker ? I believe your broker will be contacted every now and then to buy and sell on your behalf since its an active bizness for you, that must be a very tiring and cumbersome process for newbies to emulate. isn't it?

On the contrary, brokers are very happy the more customers trade. Don't be amazed at the tenacity you see here, some of us here take this stock business very seriously because of the enormous potential it holds.

Interesting that FBN mkt cap is just over N100bn, very similar to what Skye supposedly paid for Mainstreet.
Long term bargain hunters will be focusing here

REALLY FUNNY. But I bet to believe we are here to talk serious business no investing and money making from the stock market and not play around. For mi i have sold of 97% of my shares in UCAP, FBNH and Oando. Am putting my money in NTB for 180days at 18% would be back when it matures in Feb 2017. I would advice all newbies to follow suit cos this market is not in a good state presently.

Nice move! I think the biggest bear of all time is set to hit the market soon. I will be gathering cash but I ain't going away from the market completely. I will be planting for the next 6 months as opportunity comes.
