You are a sorry excuse for a human being. It is a grave injustice to ndigbo to live in the same country with dimwits like you who do not understand how the massacre of over 45000 civilians, the execution of over 400 igbo army officers under the supervision of murtala mohammed and Gowon, can provoke a people and their 33 year old leader into a fight back. Do not blame the irresponsible Gowon whose house was on fire but stupidly came to Aburi with no government position to appease the already boiling east with enormous refugee problem. Yet had the effrontery to back down on the one presented by the east through it's intelligent leader after an agreement has been reached. Instead blame Ojukwu for beign a leader for his people in the face of obvious tyranny. Nonsense.

None of them will live to tell the story if it comes to that. This I'm certain of.

Many men at onitsha bridgehead drug market vowed to send their female children to the highest level of education because of your exploits. They didn't know that a woman could dare to thread where men had ventured, compromised and ran away tails between their legs. Until that fateful Monday morning, backed by fearful looking soldiers you conducted a surgery that brought sanity and relief to downtrodden Nigerians. For all the many Nigerians who lived because of your sence of patriotism and responsibility you will live forever. Bye our Amazon.

Unfortunately it is the truth. I watched the program on AIT. Mantu actually said it when he was trying to prove to Ohiria( hope I got it right), that alliance with any of the big tribe has not yielded much dividend for the middle belt. He sighted that as an example. So it's not only Igbos that have accused Awolowo of tribalism during the indigenization process. It's just that we are the proverbial bad goat whose cry make the lazy owner to feed all the other hungry but 'good'goats in his goat pen.

Doesn't change the fact that what you celebrate as strengths are actually what has made you 3rd class citizens in Nigeria, meaning you have failed to re-adapt your weaknesses.

Arrogance instead of Humility.
Impertinence instead of Diplomacy.
Pugnacity instead of Docility.
Lack of central leadership.

You came from a feudal culture, we from a republican one. Our third class status only exist in your arrogant imagination. The average Igbo man on the street feels like a king. We have achieved individual success and now crave for a group success. The movement is on and pan Igbo consciousness is on the rise. We know our destination. We know why we aren't pulling our weight in the political arena. We are using the only tool that gnaw at the heart of everyone of us. Our rallying point. Please stop distracting us.

Lol....its only in the Biafran history book that Awolowo and the entire Yoruba race requested for Biafran help to be liberated from Nigeria.
I give up here bro.
Have a blessed day.
A piece of evidence published by one of your own stares you in the face and you're still looking for an escape route. I didn't see it in the Biafra history books. I saw it in the history book published by a Yoruba man. Of course you need to give up because the lies you believed all these years are been busted left, right and centre. PEACE!!

LadiIshola:

And your assertions are weirder.
Who are the brothers? The greediness of a few disgruntled elements within the west doesn't qualify as the standing opinion of the whole region.
Someone clearly stated that the Biafran military will leave Lagos only when "They feel it is safe or right to leave" and not when we westerners say its time. What do you call that?
You all can live in denial all you want, you have always been and will continue to be the villians here not until you lots accept the fact that the west was not, is not and will never be part of your problems cos we never planned to secede together. You wanted to.
I guessed you also missed the part where he warned Banjo against use of force on any Yoruba man who might resist him. Ojukwu have a lot in his hand to deal with in the East other than taking an opinion poll in the southwest. If Awolowo and Lt.col victor Banjo represented disgruntled elements of the southwest, then I give up. But one thing is very clear he sent troops to liberate southwest on the request of Yoruba people. The fact that Biafran liberation forces accompanied Banjo was a clear indication that he agreed to the terms of the letter. The so called invasion of southwest was initiated and carried out by the Yoruba people, and was sabotaged by them. But guess who takes the blame? Ojukwu and Igbo people.

LadiIshola:

It doesn't feel like, he was actually trying to cunningly capture southwest especially Lagos while making it look like they wanted to help.
1.) he would get our able men enlisted in their army and join the biafran war
2.) if successful after the war, they would have gained upper hand so we will be a their mercy and they dictate the terms to us probably annexing Lagos and Ondo to be part of Biafra along with the entire mid-western Region.
cunning snake
Your assumptions are weird. Your brothers needed his help to secede. He obliged and stated clearly that he would leave once the new territory was secured from external aggression. At the same time warning them not to attack his own territory. Pls tell where is the cunningness in this letter. I don't really blame you anyway. Years of malicious propaganda against Ojukwu and Biafra have distorted the truth so much that victims had emerged villians while villains are been celebrated as national heroes. It is the price to pay for losing the war. Every narrative is twisted to favour the victor. But it's 50 years already, can we all look each other in the face a say the damn truth!

I am not Ibo but the more I learn about Ojukwu, the more I come to appreciate that he was a towering figure in history and an outstanding personality.

Handsome, eloquent, educated, urbane, charismatic, disciplined, vigorous, energetic, fair ....

He was a rich boy who sided with the masses.
He led the war despite risk to himself and position.
He extended the hand of fellowship to the yorubas and minorities.
He freed Awo from prison
He fought for his people, truth and justice.
He never participated in any coup

He is a man for the ages.
You are right. This is why the Igbo's would not listen to anybody trying to label him a coward. We know the man that led our struggle. He had his flaws but he was a just man who got caught up in events that did not have 100% control of. He did his best and history will forever be kind to him.

From 'WHY WE STRUCK' the man who initiated the coup a Yoruba man said it all the way it happened. It was not an Igbo coup instead a coup to liberate the southwest from political instability caused by S.L Akintola unpopularity and the sinister plan of Tafawa Belewa to lead a political siege on the Southwest using the military as his tool. To free the ungrateful Awolowo,Enahoro and the rest from prison. The least we expected from Yoruba's during the pogrom was at least to raise a voice in condemnation of the horror unfolding before their very eyes. No! Their obas went round the north on a thank you visit for sparing the lives of innocent Yorubas and shedding the blood of more than 45,000 Igbo's. God bless Prof Wole Soyinka who chided the obas in that open letter. He is the reason I still look at Yoruba tribe as people without dead conscience.

Let it also be on record that Victor Banjo approach Ojukwu with this request to liberate the southwest from Hausa Fulani siege because Awolowo sent a distress call to them in Biafra. Before Victor Banjo can get to Ore, the Brits have advised Gowon to offer Awolowo a prominent position in his government. Awo accepted and gave Banjo directive to stop his march in Ore where unsuspecting BRF were surrounded and massacred. Ojukwu never invaded southwest to claim territory, he responded to the distress call of those he thought were brothers and friends. He was instead betrayed. History is indeed sweet.

Funny how people like you enjoy living in denial. Please it is diabolical to tell a people that what they experienced and felt was false. The fact remained that every Igbo man was given 20 pounds after the war and an indigenization policy was promulgated almost immediately to unfairly keep them from buying into the new Nigerian economy. Nwodo experienced it firsthand. Twist it all you can, write all kind of literature you wish about it being a wrong assertion. It changes nothing because the victims are all well alive to refute your well perfected, 50 year old historical revisionism.

Dear Aliyu, the question is did Fulani herdsmen kill people in southern Kaduna, Agatu,Enugu,Taraba and other places? If yes then you have no point. You can gush all u want about your so called love for southern Christians but we all know it is hogwash. We have seen you all at your very worst, mowing down neighbours you have lived with for decades, killing children kept under your care by a trusting friend in the wake of religious crisis. Even the Ekealors and Umudikes as much as they love you know where your loyalty lies when push comes to shove. If you think they trust you with their lives then you are a joker. ONE NORTH has been the phrase you use to decieve the Christians among you, personally I have issues with all of you because you all took part in the 1966 genocide, but then the human in me revolts at the sight of innocent people murdered because their oppressors felt they have no voice. They have a voice now in their brethren from the south,if the fear of disunity with them will make you to respect their right to live then it is a win win situation. After all it was your good morning that necessitated the question how are you? Peace.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Criticizes Buhari's Economic Policies, Says I Won't Ignore The Truth.. by megbu: 5:20pm On Jan 26, 2017
LordAdam7:

Currently, there is no one.

Especially with the current "feeding bottle" federalism we run.

What we have are people that would only make marginal improvements while maintaining the status quo.

Atiku would do well because of his moderate stance. He is not as divisive at Buhari and Nigeria will know peace under him as he can appeal to both the Northern and Southern populace. This would be significant to make the Nigerian economy stable again and increasing FDI. He has also done well for himself in terms of businesses since he left power, so he should be able to steer the economy reasonably well with competent associates.

That said, he would barely record any successes in the anti-corruption angle. And I'm not positive, he'd live up to his calls for restructuring.

Donald Duke and Peter Obi from the South would also do great with the economy. But they may also find themselves in the same quagmire as GEJ when it comes to security. Do something and it would be portrayed as anti-North. Do nothing and it would be portrayed as weakness.

Ribadu would do great on bringing sanity to the polity. But I doubt he has a good grasp of how to elevate Nigeria's economic fortunes.

So, you understand why I said there is no one. For any body in the current polity who gets into power, we'd have to sacrifice something. Good economy, thriving corruption, security, you name it.

None of those guys can fix Nigeria's infrastructural deficit. None of them can eradicate corruption (no one can really).

But if we were able to restructure Nigeria, then the impact of any of these persons would increase tenfold because the pressure of the center will reduce. With resource control, better regional autonomy, and fizzling away of major conflicting interests, the focus would shift to the regional governments than the central government. With that mammoth weight off the shoulder, the current quagmire of not being able to please most people at any time will reduce and we'll experience growth in various indices.

Until we restructure, it would be difficult to create the institutions that would pull Nigeria out of the mess she's in currently. And it would also be difficult for a strong man to act without fear or rancor.

-Lord
Your grasp on issues is so apt. There is nothing to add. Let's restructure now and start afresh we are already on a dead end.

He doesn't need any body to tell him what he observed by himself. And its not victim mentality because most of us did not see the war but the Nigeria state foolishly keep on reenacting the war scenario in the mind of highly impressionable youth.
