Hello guys, I smell a rat oooo. Pls someone I knw has been pursuing this Canada stuff (trying to relocate to Canada) after some huge amount of money collected by d so called agent and nothing has been heard, the agent is now on hot seat to bring back d cash. Only yesterday d agent asked the aspiring Canadian(lols) to get a paper and stamp his fingerprints on d paper and send to him. Now who does that? Do you do fingerprints on ur own at home? I guess its scam but fellow nairalanders help me out. Have u guys heard of this before? Pls waiting for response

ekpotek: I believe you misunderstood my post. What I meant was that when I applied for my first US visa in 2008, I used a agent to fill the form at VI near the US embassy. At that time I had friends and distance relatives in the US who I have not had contact with in the last 15 years. So the agent advise me that I should not fill it in as I am not going to visit them since they live in other States different from the one I am going to. Also as first time applicant with fresh passport, it was important that I complete the form,
with minimal tie to the US. I believed this advise coupled with document with made my first interview to be successful. The last interview was my second visit to the US embassy, with my and VO gave US 2 years.

Yeah I absolutely misunderstood you. We all or most of us have distant relatives in the US and it is absolutely unnecessary to fill in their names.

Yes, according to d website they will decide if you should come for an interview or not. In my own case, I wasn't called for an interview. Yes it was issued and u can know from by checking ur status online even before u get ur passport. As I stated earlier, someone dropped my docs for me and those were d only docs they picked from mine according to what I was told so my advise is to take any supporting docs with u. No harm in bringing them back if not needed.

U need to schedule appointment. That's where they will ask u some questions and requirements. I sent my docs thru someone and I included bank statements, payslips etc but they were all rejected and only my passport and d required confirmation letters were taken. I will advise u do same.let them be d ones to reject them.

I wish to reapply with my wife whose visa also expires same day.
My 3 children have never been to the USA and will also need visas too.
I read that they can apply through the drop box process too even in their first time.
They are minors.my first daughter is 11 years old.

Fill ur ds160( u will be asked tf u re travelling alone or not, then u will indicate) year wife and kids will need their own DS160 forms too. When scheduling an appointment, there are certain questions u will be asked and if u meet up with the requirement then u are good to go. U may need to attach the kids passports with urs cos I believe u will be sponsoring them. Even if they haven't travel to d US or any other country they can still be issued visas.

ekpotek: For that is the key question. Never say you know someone in the US, even if you know. In my first interview in 2008, the VO asked me if I know someone in the US, which I responded in the negative. He then asked me where are my siblings, I told him they were all in Nigeria, mention the states they were. Then I passport was fresh with no travel history, and my visa was approved. The bottom line is never reveal any information that give the VO the impression that you are not likely to return. Such information as knowing
family member and spend long time in the US are very difficult to convince the VO for first-time applicant

Are you for real? At this time and age? How can you advise people to lie about having siblings in the us? Pls guys try to be honest at all times. If you are caught in any form of dishonesty it can severely affect you now or in future. Guys be wise!!!!

I intend visiting the US with my wife and kid. We all have travel experience. I have been to UK more than 5 times. My wife twice and my daughter 1ce. My uncle is willing to give us an invitation letter, photocopy of data page of his American passport, certificate of naturalization . i think i have the necessary document. My question is do I need an hotel reservation along side my document.

If u will be living with ur uncle u don't need to. U tell the vo when u re asked asked (which u will probably fill in ur DS160 anyways.) if u will be living in a hotel then u may need a hotel reservation. Pls anything u fill in ur DS160 is what u will say through out the interview process. Try to be honest too.

You are not alone dear, got same msg. What u need to do is lay ur complain in the feedback section and they will promise to get back to u during 1-2 business days and guess what.... They are true to their word. In my case they contacted me and asked me to provide a new email acc and they updated my profile. U don't need to add information to it but if u fill there is a change inform them they wil clarify. I was rely impressed with the quick response to my case.

Oh no! If its not up to 30 days u filled d form, u can easily retrieve your form and make ur corrections by logging in on how u go to I to it profile all ur details will be shown except detsils on ur travel plans. Then u make ur corrections and submit.
U can google how to correct error on ur ds160 ater submission. U will get d information u need.

Don't see much of a problem here. Go for the interview and explain if question pops up concerning it. If you are so worried, you can fill another DS160 form and make the corrections. Good luck.

The issue is I can't remember d password.the sys asked me to choose "forgot password" which I did and they sent me a temporal password which I used and was asked to change to a new one immediately, which I did yet it keeps taking me back to my details are in their database. What should I do?

I called d embassy to throw more lyt on d process and I was told I have to go to the embasy where d visa was issued to drop it and I have to go in person.so that means I will still travel and it kept me wondering y it is called a drop box? Hi VO, pls advice accordingly. Though this is a NIV renewal issue. Planning on using the drop box cause I am qualified to use it. The question is I live in port harcourt. Can I use the dhl services in port harcourt to drop it off for me or I need to go to lagos/abuja to drop it off myself?

fatfatty: Dnt think u need to go to lagos or abuja for dat.
Will advice u do any of these two:
1: go to dhl office in ur location and make enquiry. They should av a section for dat cos dey av in lagos.
Or
2: call nigeria US embassy customer service for enquiry on +23414406297. Am sure they would guide u
