EducationRe: Should I Do My Masters In France, Germany Or Russia? by meiloya: 11:43pm On Jun 16, 2011
Shoot for Germany or France. Bone Russia, unless, of course, you want to attend the famous school of oil and gas there, German and French schools are more than recognized anywhere in the world, Check the latest ranking.

The benefits of studying in Germany are numerous, One major advantage is the love the country has for students studying there, international students inclusive. The cost of living is low and transportation to any other city in Germany is free for all students with valid identity cards. You can also easily move to the US for further studies. On the other hand, the cost of living in France, especially Paris, is killing, French people do not really give a damn about students,

If you are interested in Oil and Gas Management, then try IFP Paris,

Success!
EducationRe: Can A Graduate With 2.2 Go For Masters Degree In Uk by meiloya: 11:28pm On Jun 16, 2011
@OP

Try Kent University http://www.kent.ac.uk/. One of my guys who had 2:2 in Naija later went there for his master's.

Nija4Life:
You forgot to also mention the access to up-to-date books, literature and journals to facilitate research. What is the quality of the teaching staff? How are they recruited and is there an inspection regime in place to adequately monitor the quality of teaching and learning? How many scholars or academics have been cited in journals and academic publications? What is the quality of students recruited? How are these students recruited?

No Nigerian University or indeed an African University is in the top 500 in the world (http://www.arwu.org/ARWU2010.jsp) ~ as much as we understandably want to big up our own the truth is that our universities are not yet ready to compete in global academic excellence due to lack of investment and corruption in the university system. You cannot also discuss university education in isolation because they get their students from secondary schools and like we all know the standards of secondary education in Nigeria leaves a lot to be desired. The quality of the students a university gets goes some way to define a university and that definition isn’t a very good one in some cases. http://hilonah-educationthatworksfornigeria..com
Oga/Madam Nija4life, is UCT not an African University? The last time I checked, it was among the top 200. Now, it has fallen to top 300, Of course, your bolded claim will be very right if and only if UCT is not in Africa, The last time I was there, it was an African Uni, Maybe things don change,,Oyinbo don take am,

Interesting post, Thanks. Now, following your esteemed contribution, I can only guess that somebody got a master's degree from the moon but could not land a job in Nigeria.  Could me please tell me more about the person? The general idea is that, if somebody says something is not true, he/she must be able to provide an example where that thing fails to be true, We call that a counter example in analysis. So, please, it would be nice to get that counter example using the moon cheesy I am waiting. Please don't quote one kind figure of speech O.

Thanks,

@Ajanlekoko,

Besides the highly professional  fields(engr, medicine,  law, IT,, ) that I am obviously unqualified in, I am prepared to work in any other area(s).  I have been looking favourably at HR these days.

Brother Disguy,

Thank you again for your contribution,  Please you and chambre should not join issues. Both of you are telling me things you think will help me. Both of you make sense.

Yes, I am avoiding a PhD. A PhD is, in fact, my last resort-- I am also ready to work anywhere in the world. If the opportunity is in Niaja, then I do not mind, provided I lead an above average life. As you already indicated, I will finish graduate studies early next year. I am just trying to play smart and to get the requisite info that will help me or give me an edge in the job market when I am fully ready.

More contributions are welcome.

@ Chamber 2

Bros/Sis, thanks for your response. Although I may not be a genius, I am not bad at all. In fact, my undergrad result is just some decimal points away from a first class honours.  A 2:1, which is an above average result, is not a barrier for me. Thanks also for the hint on getting acquainted with SHL and GMAT. I will do my best to bring my skills up to speed in those areas.

I have been visiting the websites you suggested, and they have been very helpful. I just hope something clicks one day.

Hi all,

Soon, I will be finishing my master's in economics at one of the decent schools in the west. I don't have any plans yet; however, I am desirous of working for any good company anywhere in the world, What counsel do you have for me? I can also do a PhD upon completion of my master's and make about 1600$ every month, But I think the industry is where I want to be,

What have your stories been, people? Those that returned to Naija, please share!

Hallo Pentium,

It seems to me that the right people are usually at the wrong places at the right time. I think this clearly explains your case, and it does so pretty well if and only if the description you gave about yourself approximates perfection. May be it would be nice to get to know you as I sense you could be an interesting person worthy of my busy time. I have tried to send you a personal message, but I just could not locate where you get the private message icon. This necessitates my posting here on the general forum. Could you see me a link to your facebook so that I could send you a friendship request? My email is ighoeve@yahoo.co.uk
