Was it your father that the oil money was given to develop Lagos? Oil was discovered in 1956. Here are pictures of Lagos before 1950 before Nigeria even smell what is called oil. List 5 major companies in Lagos today and let's see if they are not oil and Gas related. |

0balufonlll: This is the problem, because you guys copy paste each other doing the same business, then you automatically assume you are the only source of whatever the business gives. There are several Yoruba & Hausa who import electronic gadgets, they just not littering the entire space replicating each other's style. Also, a good number of people prefer to buy directly from overseas.
Nonetheless, how many of these your copy paste out of idea redundant business owjers are captured in Lagod tax system? They are all captured, directly or indirectly. How many of the hausa importers You claim own property in Lagos? If you know anything about business as u claim, you will know that single items will be more expensive than a contianer quantity. 60 percent of cargo in Nigeria goes to onitsha. The remaining 40% goes to Lagos. That tells you that 90% of imported items in Nigeria is done by igbos. Every family in Lagos has minimum of 1 item imported by an igbos. Every business in Lagos patronize igbos directly or indirectly. Wether it is the company car parts, machinery for production or electronics. That's where they get the money to buy land. You will be shocked that igbo taxes will be second to oil and Gas and banking sector in Lagos. I am sure that you are still shocked how the igbos that came from the civil war with nothing have caught up with yorubas that took over all their positions in Foreign companies in Nigeria. Tell the government to tell igbos to stop paying their insignificant taxes so they can stop voting in Lagos. |

0balufonlll: X
Boy, these people keep yapping about Igbo tax. And I think we need to do a type of assessment of tax system in Lagos to see the relevance of this claim.
- The 90% of Igbos in Lagos are petty traders. They are mostly 2 by 2 shop owners who sell Igbo food, spare parts, ogbono, oporoko, sub-standard boutiques, gala, lacasera, fan yoghurt & such petty nonsenses.
How many of these petty traders who make direct cash are captured in tax payment bracket? After the months earning do they take tax cuts to the government or banks? We all know the answer is 'No'. At max, they get to pay rents for space & market levy which is used by the market excos or LGA of the market for whatever benefits the same market.
- The remaining 10% population covers those Igbos who are employed in Lagos Civil Service [they should not be, there are Lagos indigenes who need & should have these slots first] & those employed in private conglomerates/large establishsments.
These set of people pay compulsory taxes which the government deducts before salary is paid. The same way the government deduct from the Hausa, Kanuri, Ibibio & such people resident in Lagos & fall in that category.
- Lagos is filled with HQs of several private local & international companies. These include banks, telecommunication companies, oil companies, construction companies & sonon. These are the real tax payers whose taxes range in the several hundreds of millions annually. The question is, how many of theae establishments are owned by Igbos to warrant such nonsense talk about Igbo tax?
Why haven't the Igbo taxes made Rivers & Akwa Ibom another Lagos. At least they are both highly populated by Igbos and they're both port states? Why haven't Igbo taxes paid in the 5 Igbo states developed the 5 Igbo states? These states are small & not very populated so it should not be a problem yet since 1960, not one Igbo city has been developed by Igbo taxes.
You all need to GTFOH properly. Petty traders, yet 99% of electronics used in the entire Lagos was imported by igbos. Even the phone or laptop you are using to type this rubbish was imported by igbos. All car parts in Lagos are igbos. |

So because New Hamsphire is the richest states in Usa, does it mean they accommodated other state like Ca, NY? Are the whites accommodating the blacks in America? Can the white American tell the black American who to vote? As long as they are Americans, they can vote anyone. So why will anyone tell igbos who and when to vote in lagos and claim accommodation? |
Politics › If Igbos Taxes Are Good For Lagos... by mekaboy(op): 6:35am On Mar 03, 2019 |
All this Lagos ownership talk is simply because of elections. Igbos have been law abiding and peaceful in Lagos, until now.
All because of elections they have become disrespectful to their host.
Well Lagos is hosting Igbos and not tinubu. Tinubu does not own Lagos, neither is he the head of the Yoruba tribe. Therefore cannot expect igbos to bow at his feet.
If the igbos taxes are good for Lagos, then their votes should be good as well. |

specco: According to your logic, the SW are the real Nigerians and voted objectively for Pdp because they are more educated, enlightened and travel 'abroad', Europe. But the SE who only travel to China and Asian countries only voted for Pdp because of narrow interest ie for Peter Obi their son as Vp. And also the SS only wanted their pound of flesh from Buhari for defeating their son, Jonathan in 2015. So these are the only reasons SS and SE voted against Buhari according to the Op. What a crap! Pmb's non performance in the economy, security and fight against corupion is visible even to the blind. Why choose to denigrate the whole nations of SE and SS as bunch of less educated fellows who voted based on sentiments only. So the SE and SS are not real Nigerians? They do not feel the economy, lopsided appointments, worsening security of lives and property, hunger etc? What amount of education or travelling to Europe does one need to decide against the listed above? This bashing at every opportunity will not stand. There is a reason I said let's assume initially, because that's what most people would assume, but that does not mean it is the truth. I did that to focus on the SW votes as most SW governors are APC. |

Yorubas own Lagos and are accommodating igbos, therefore they are in a position to tell Igbos when and who to vote. Igbos should be grateful that the Yorubas took them in.
Can the same be said of the Niger Delta? Can we say the Niger delta is accommodating Nigerians, since even Lagos was built with their oil money?
Shouldn't they tell Nigerians when and who to vote, since the economy of this country is run from the resources in their land? |

ItsMeAboki: Here we go again; so an illiterate person cannot make an informed decision - you can't be serious.
You mean these ppl who are constantly abreast with local and international news and in touch with current affairs through their transistor radios cannot make informed political decisions on their own because they are illiterate?
May God help you and cure you of your woeful ignorance. Was it international news that made them kill youth corners when Buhari lost? So someone in an IDP camp goes to vote the same government under which they are displaced? Now this picture shows you the importance of education. They are all listening to the same station. Instead of one person to increase the volume for all to listen, all of them put the same radio and channel in their ears to listen to the same station. That's an example of uninformed decision making. Note I said education and exposure. |

ItsMeAboki: So in your book, persons who practice polygamy, poor or uneducated should be regarded as not intelligent; yet by that stupid statement you still expect yourself to also be considered educated and intelligent? You are right. Education does not make one intelligent. Because of it did, you would have known that polygamy is the reason why they have more numbers than the south. That was one reason, then illiteracy was another why they made uninformed decisions and could not ask critical questions. |

Politics › Re: Buhari Won But Nigeria Lost . by mekaboy(op): 12:33pm On Mar 02, 2019 |
ItsMeAboki: Typical educated illiterate write up; all hogwash and no substance.
Some of you continue making the mistake of equating education with intelligence; without noting that the former is mere acquisition of formally structured information and packaged knowledge; while latter reflects the ability to constructively process and manipulate information and knowledge for a particular purpose - usually to solve problems or transmit it into something more useful.
A person can therefore be quite educated but also very stupid; we have seen that example in GEJ, a supposedly PhD holder, whose many gaffs attracted to him many unflattering names such as: Odechukwu, PhD without intelligence etc.
When it comes to politics and political awareness, those northerners you regard as uneducated and therefore dunces are actually more politically informed and matured than most of you so called educated southerners. The earlier uploaded picture of a group of them with their portable radios says it all; most northerners including those in remote areas rely on their radios (among others) as their educators on current affairs via several outlets, both local and international e.g VOA, BBC to help shape their opinions and their political choices from an informed perspective rather than relying on hearsay and innate prejudices.
The current voting pattern seen in the north was largely the collective expression of a choice for integrity (a value held highly by Muslims) against money and vice - in short, northerners preferred to put their fortunes in the hands of someone they can trust rather than in someone who could potentially abuse it.
Using your logic; since northerners are uneducated and therefore presumably unintelligent; then why had the presumed less intelligent north presided over the leadership of this country for most part of its independent life? Why had the presumably cleverer southerners allowed themselves to be politically dominated and governed by the less intelligent north. Why can't they use their superior intelligence to free themselves from this dominance? Who then are truly more cleverer than the other? - don't even bother to respond to this one because the answer is quite obvious. Polygamy. If they are intelligent as you claim, why are they the poorest and less educated after producing president for years. That's the question education would have given them the opportunity to ask. Why will a person in an IDP camp, protesting hunger vote the same government if not illiteracy. So integrity is the reason they were celebrating bokoharam terrorists that abducted dabchi girls? It is lack of education that made them believe buhari has integrity while raising Gandujes hand after the video. |

Atiku really damaged plenty folks Bro, this is not about elections or Atiku . Just that I am tired of reading posts from yorubas who are probably tenants to Igbo landlords, coming online to say igbos did this and that. Yes, the igbos flee their land, where did they get money to buy land in Lagos? There are Nigerian refugees in Cameroon, how many own property in Cameroon. There are Hausa people in Lagos too, they don't own property in both the North and lagos. Why don't you insult them for staying in Lagos? They don't invest in Lagos and still fight the yorubas. The fulani don't invest, but burnt olu falaes farm and dragged him on the ground. So why single out igbos that invest and contribute heavily to the economy of the SW? |
