E be like say the season of kobo kobo comments don start. Less quantity, more quality. Person wey carry Chams loot enter Champion brewery in the name of kobo kobo adventure, no be koboko e go chop las las? It is sweeter to be spending your loot in a beer parlor than to use your loot to become shellholder in brewery industry.

That is a yield on cost of 50% to 58%, the plan is to get a minimum yield to cost of 30% after trading and investing in a stock for 10 years.
Beating the 30% target should mean success and progress to a diligent investor. A popular saying goes thus: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Just that real life calculations can call for selling such a position anyway.

You bought a stock like UCAP 4 years ago. Last year it returned 57.6% in dividends. The stock kept moving up. Now you look at its current value and see that if you liquidate now and invest in government bonds at 14 to 13%, you stand to get about 128% annually(on initial stock investment).

You want to do it, but you consider that 13% is fixed and once you are invested, neither your capital nor dividends will appreciate (or fall). However, the dividends have no ceiling and if the stock has moved this far, it would likely outperform the fixed returns over time.

You also realize that you may never be able to buy that stock at that initial price again. What would you do? grin grin grin

Good question! Typical question of whether or not to sell a cash cow. Do I sell the cow I bought for $100 that now yields me $120 annually through milk now that a buyer offers $700? Or do I keep it till its milk production drops significantly, which may happen after making me 10X the cost price through milk production?

If UBA bought at N6-N9 pays N3-N3.50 as annual dividends for three years and even beyond, what more would an investor seek? If the same UBA has returned 300% in price appreciation, would a trader be ungrateful?
No gree for anybody to buy gold from you in exchange for copper. Success in stocks investing is not only by being a master of hot stocks or by partaking in every lone ten bagger run.

Respect to our oga's on this forum!
The story of the monkey trader is evergreen!
An interesting sequel to the story is that it's possible that the trader later sent his apprentice to begin banana business in the village that he himself had flooded with monkeys. He was a great businessman as he did the planning, marketing, relationship building and trade execution all by himself. Monkeys and perishable bananas will be offloaded when the time comes, but villagers who trade cages might not need to fret.

Think of where you belong in this story while the bull run lasts.

Nigerians are natural risk-takers. Nobody needed to point out Oando to anyone. As Ades1 once said, it is common sense that makes you buy Oando in anticipation or upon the announcement of Tinubu's victory. Nobody should try to take the shine for pointing the stock out. To people who did MMM or traded crypto, both of which are riskier speculations, Oando is a no-brainer, an easy pick!
If Otedola starts loading Dunlop tomorrow, some people will come here and boast of mentioning Dunlop as a pick.

And for those losing their sleep because of Oando, or disrespectfully calling fellow forumites names just because of volatile emotions, trading high risk stocks is not by force. Many will catch fun with the stock you're banking on. Some friendships started because of ManU vs Chelsea bashing. Tame your emotions and not treat every sarcastic or contrary opinion about your stock as "bad belle".

I am very sad. I lost a lot of money in Oando. I cannot sell my shares. I have a big problem. Don't misunderstand me. I started investing in stocks this year. I bought Japaul Gold, Transcorp, and Dangote Sugar. I doubled my money every time. My 4 million naira became 32 million naira. But now I cannot withdraw even 1 million naira. This is my life savings. I saved this money for six years. Please, what can I do? Ncha na acho e ba efi n'anya.

This 4M to 32M cruise makes one laugh really hard because that bros in your imagination must know how to time the market perfectly. Please cut small soap for us bros.

The definition of "your money works for you" is that you re-evaluate from time to time, then you go to bed for the majority of the time. When you are always on the lookout for good news about your beloved company, know that you are putting in more work than a 9-5. Or when you are constantly praying that another hunter comes along to pay higher than you paid for your shares shells, it's time to revisit the drawing board.
Stay hopeful bro. Many securities are either swinging around a steady price or they are declining slowly. Enjoy the current cruise since you're used to such risks.

Oando seems to be the only stock in discussion and in market now....as far as the forum is concerned. If one should count, it may be more than 10 wasted pages already .
Dangote foods was discussed consistently for many pages, so were Transcorp, First bank, many others. Let's allow people learn from what relates to their situation or interests. These conversations keep the forum alive.

Good morning the gurus in the house, kindly help clarify the below issues.

This bids and offers on the brokerage apps during trading period, is It peculiar to the investors that are trading through a particular brokers or it's for the whole investors irrespective of your brokers?

Kindly help share a website that is best for that if there is any.

Kindly help share the website the financials and other Nigerian companies data can be gotten easily, it has been a very tedious job for me to fetch this data.

I also noticed that each of the websites reports different dividend yields for the same companies, what is likely the issue?

Thanks.
1. The bids and offers are the information about all participating investors in the market, and so they are not from particular brokers.

2. You can check this page as frequently as you can. Financial reports are uploaded as released.
https://ngxgroup.com/exchange/data/corporate-disclosures/

Some websites such as Nairametrics do compile reliable summaries of important figures such as dividends information and a little more.

Good evening great investors, please kindly help to explain in detail, how many time do companies In NGX release their financial statements/results in a year? What months, in respect to FY, Q1, Q2,Q3 and Q4 . Thanks
Q1, Q2 (H1), Q3 and Q4(FY).

FY is usually the latest to be released (in terms of how soon after the quarter is concluded) for the obvious reason of auditing.
Since Q1 ends in March for instance, reports are usually released in May. Some release the quarterly reports very early, especially because it is unaudited. There are deadlines and the regulation is by the SEC.

Response to Peter's questions
Short answer: Maybe, decision to be based on "shell or shares". Would he sell his own N7 UBA if it reached N21?
Long answer: Why would I buy Oando for 3x returns when many fundamentally sound stocks give close returns on top of peace of mind and long term prospects? Not when there's general bull please.

Someone thinking of showing Wale shege must be really large, like really large! Someone who would make a living out of calling out generational low gangs must be equally sincere!
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Melcapital:
I have learnt so much from the experience of old minds here to know that a company that releases its FY2021 financial report in 2023 without official notices of reasons for delay even when others are already releasing quarterly reports has built its own pitch of play with its own rules.
If you are a "newbie", please learn from experience litters on the pages of this forum, learn by reading offline and online, asking questions and so on. If you must follow stock picks like betting tips, check the history of monikers for patterns of aggressive marketing or "talking from both sides of the mouth". Companies are listed for a reason, a management team for a reason, SEC exists for a reason, financial reports and news are available to everyone for a reason, and shareholders exist for a reason. Define your own reason and be guided by it. "Money you can afford to lose" is a very deep expression!
Happy investing and trading grin

Announcement of an opportunity being sighted and keyed into
mikeapollo:
The shareholders will surely reject and kill the buy-out offer.
Oando will clock N100...especially with the acquisition of ENI.
I foresaw the opportunity and loaded it in millions of units!
Motivation for recruiting many into the fold
mikeapollo:
Sell OANDO and lose money.
the least price OANDO would attain in the next few months is N50! It has prospects to hit N100!
Encouragement for doubting "investors"
mikeapollo:
The buyout offer is just an offer....
Once the shareholders reject the buyout offer at the AGM (which is now almost certain), the buyout dies automatically, ....
it is almost certain that the shareholders would reject the buyout offer, .....
More inspiration and hints on future prospects
mikeapollo:
OANDO has almost weathered the storm and will clock N50 very soon.. The company made profits in FY2021....
Anyone that has some idle cash to spare and stake should load it on Oando ....
The price rally after that date may be crazy because Oando is likely to release its financial results for FY2022 shortly before or after that date..
Aggressive marketing encouragement
mikeapollo:
If you have the money, buy as much of Oando as you can....
A little bit of unveiling the value and decent comparison to fellow shells stocks.
mikeapollo:
Oando is still undervalued. Check the price of it's contemporaries like Conoil which is selling around N90-100 even though it is more downstream than upstream...
Slip of fingers tongue: "feeling" and not "sure" anymore
mikeapollo:
I have a feeling that the shareholders would discontinue and withdraw the case,....
Telling them the real name of the game
mikeapollo:
The Oando market is like what the Yoruba people call '' igbo o da ju'' ....... a thick scary forest that only the brave and bold can enter!
After sharing many facts in "constructive" arguments, the motivator shows they are also human and that the motivation has been based on last minute "hope"
mikeapollo:
It is painful. and I agree that the Oando management has not been....
But something still tells me that something drastic could still happen that would favour Oando shareholders....like a die minute positive news!
This bros go make a great ambassador of any brand. Much respect for backing all arguments with facts, great comparisons, valuation figures and so on.
Please note that nothing concerns me with Oando and its price actions.

Newbies might be easily misguided when they come across posts presented like facts, when they, in the actual sense, are assumptions/speculations. Many of us learnt on this thread, and are still learning. It would be kind and selfless to allow the willing people learn, by not diluting educative posts with obviously inaccurate information.

Giving hope is a nice thing. We enjoy it, but not when it is at the cost of growth.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
VO: Where are you going to
Me: I am going to the Uni of Alabama to obtain a PhD in Physics
VO: What will the degree do for you
Me: I want to be a lecturer( before the interview, I had a beautifully structured essay for this after a series of mock with my bro. Unfortunately I forgot everything.
VO: what other schools did you apply to?
Me: Uni of North Dakota, Alabama A and M Uni, Uni of Louisiana, Lafayette
VO: you didn’t get an assistanship?
Me: No. According to my PI and the department head, my research will be funded by Alabama Space grant Consortium, starting from my second semester. The paperwork will be finalized upon my resumption.
VO: who will then sponsor you before you get that funding?
Me: My dad
VO: What does he do?
Me: He is a retired civil servant.

He asked for his bank statement. He checked through and returned it.
He was typing very fast all through the conversation.
Then, he dropped my passport in the tray, I was so happy. Then he looked at my I-20 again and said: the signature on your I-20 is not legible.
I won’t be able to complete the process. So he started typing again, maybe he was reversing the approval. Then he returned my passport and my I-20.
VO: you will tell your school’s DSO to send a signed I-20.
So he gave me a white paper with ‘USA consular......’ as heading and wrote signed I-20 required.
He told me to drop the signed I-20, my passport, and the white paper at a dropbox facility and they would get to him.

I got the new I-20, did as I was told and the visa was ready after four days.

Thank you everyone.
I bless the day I joined this thread.
God bless!

Good evening everyone. Please I need your advice in booking my flight to the US.
My school is in Alabama and I discovered that the flights to that city and for the period I want to depart are expensive.I have a brother in Maryland so I am planning on booking a flight to Maryland which is much cheaper instead, then spend sometime with him(like 2 weeks), then take a greyhound bus to Alabama when school resumes.
My question is: Will I have a problem at the port of entry for taking a flight to Maryland instead of Alabama?
If I am asked such a question, how do I reply?
Please I need your inputs. God bless
