In my assessment of the game, Ademola Lookman was our best player yesterday and not Moses Simon.
Lookman did more both offensively and defensively. |

I will say things the way they are, and hope to see improvements.
Eguavoen did not impress me with his tactics. |

Mujtahida: How will he impress you with his tactics when from your first sentence it is obvious you misinterpreted his tactics. He played 4-3-3 not 4-2-3-1. Iwobi played his natural AM role, Onyeka was the CM and Ndidi the DM.
He will only impress you when he plays Ejuke 😏😏 Oh my God. It is so clear that Eguavoen played 4231. Iwobi played very close to Boniface that sometimes you will think it is 442. Iwobi sometimes pressed the Libyans alone especially in the first half. How do you guys watch matches and interpret so little. Eguavoen was poor, some said he wasn't conservative, but he was to some extent. Our wingers sat deeper, off the ball. We had more of the ball and looked like we were doing most of the attacking, because the Libyans were very poor, so so poor, with a mediocre game plan, and Eguavoen did not take advantage of this to utilise our players that are in form. Our wingers played deeper than they should and weren't pressing the Libyans. Our wingers got few shots. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Meliforme: 11:35pm On Oct 11, 2024 |
It was clear Eguavoen did not expect a low defensive block from the Libyans. The 4231 setup left Boniface somewhat isolated and suspended among the sea of defenders, there were no space for him to do anything. The setup also saw our wingers playing very close to the touchline isolating Boniface, early at the first half. Off the ball our wingers played very close to the midfield, and weren't pressing the Libyans. The setup also saw our wingers not attempting shots at goal because they played deeper.
While it is true that Eguavoen did not expect the Libyans to go ultra defensive. What happened to tweaking your tactics to commit more forwards closer to the 18 yard box.
Eguavoen is yet to impress me with his tactics. I pray that someday he will. |

How many goals has he scored in the past four seasons in 80 league games he has scored 9 goals. That's poor with all his unnecessary dribbling 😞 I am looking towards the day you will break your record of lies and utter bias. https://www.transfermarkt.com/chidera-ejuke/alletore/spieler/500067 |

I watch Sevilla games because of Ejuke, but his Super Eagles performance is more important. He will deliver in S.E. |

Mujtahida: Lookman even has end product. But Ejuke, na just waste man Sevilla fans will come for your head for this. They won't be chanting his name as he was subbed out at 89 minutes, if they think like you that don't even watch him. Dude made 3 key passes and a had a disallowed goal because of a teammate that was fractionally offside. In one of the key passes he made to Lukebakio, he could have gone for goal, but was selfless. |

7/9 dribbles completed.(highest in the game... Na him food).
9 ground duels won (highest in the game)
11 recoveries.
He was heavily involved to help Sevilla earn a point at Bilbao. He also made 1 tackle and 1 Interception. |

lbrichman2: I am truly concerned for that team They look like relegation candidates They really need to refresh their forward line, and sadly, iheanacho is not the answer I hope they sort themselves out soon They have very good wingers in Dodi Lukebakio and Childera Ejuke. They are very good and dangerous. They need a good center forward. Isaac Romero and Kelechi Iheanacho do not impress me. They also need a decent backline, because they concede cheap goals. |

Sevilla do not really have a good center forward. Iheanacho's positioning and anticipation is not encouraging.
Loic Bade has no business on the bench.
Childera Ejuke has no business on the bench. Ejuke is having a good synergy and communication with Dodi Lukebakio, as their communication with long balls, switching plays, is something good to see. Ejuke's presence on the pitch, diverted attention from Lukebakio, giving Lukebakio more space to do his thing. |

Sugarboyy: Make he go sleep I have watched all Sevilla matches this season, he come be like say I jobless 🤣🤣🤣 The guy will dribbles successfully and when it's time to shot or tries to make assist, he will pass backward. For Iheanacho at Sevilla, that guy is washed out already and I won't be surprise if at the end of the season his contract is terminated while they keep Ejuke He is Sevilla's most creative player. He assisted their only goal against Liverpool in a friendly match. Dude has it in him. |

Kog45: This is the reason why I congratulated you on Ejuke moved to Sevilla.I know stats will start coming out,yes a good dribbler.
If you can used goal creation to rate Ejuke in la liga then why asking what is Fisayo doing in eagles cuz I saw him involved in Osimhen goal against Benin.
Fisayo has just 4 caps with a goal but to you he has no business with eagles.
Thegoodjoe gave you honest opinion on Fisayo.
Pls is there any difference between goal participation and goal creation cuz here Ejuke had no goal participation. We have midfielders who have more to give us than we have in Fisayo. I mentioned his fallings and gave more worthy options. Goal participation or involvement implies that you are either the goalscorer or that you assisted the goal. One can create a goalscoring chance without having the goal converted, in that case the player is accorded to having created a goal scoring chance or made a key pass even though the goal wasn't converted. Ejuke has zero goal participation because none of the goalscoring chances he created was converted. |

He is currently number 1 in La Liga according to Fotmob.
And currently number six in goal scoring chance creation. |

7demons: Super Eagles should learn how to play possession football. Too much dependant on wing play is affecting psychology of our play, that is why they hardly string two or three passes without pushing the ball forward or losing the ball in the final third. It's not a confident team. A tiki-taka foot work would have dismantled the Rwandan defense and send the keeper the wrong direction. Tiki-taka makes every player to be creative and spontaneous with the ball. To be honest, Teams that Pack Buses always have tough times dealing with opponents that utilizes tiki-taka antics against them. During our previous games we tried such pattern against weaker teams like (Rwanda, Guinea-Bissau) to break their defenses, it back fired cos our players had not already mastered the artistry of this beautiful play. No matter how we tried, We couldnt hold the momentum cos no CONFIDENT HOLDING MIDFIELDER could step up and co-ordinate the attacks and spread the passes. These current set of SE players would rather kick ball to the left wing play, back to the right wing play, then pass the ball back to the goalkeeper... Then the keeper, passes it to a defender, the defender shoots the ball up high! only to be nodded back to the keeper on rebound And this cycle keeps repeating itself on-and-on till the final minutes. And there on the sidelines stands a clueless coach, wondering what happened to his players and who to blame for his lapses.
Finidi is a one of a confident coach who tried to develop and utilize this pattern of play but unfortunately he didnt have enough time to effect the change as most people saw his tactics as a "Beautiful nonsense without no end result" but little did they realize its a technical play that requires alot of time to master.
Since the time of Genort Rohr till date, our free flow possession football is a mess. Okocha or Kanu would have a confident to hold a ball inside the 18yrd box and be expectimg a foul, penalty or a goal against the opponent. But what we have now is defensive minded players, who when have the opportunity on the ball, give it to their wingers to sprint-on into the 18yrd box. Fortunately for their striker Osimhen, if he catches up to nod or kick (that's to say if he's never offside before the ball gets to him or out run the ball ) Wing play can many times be everything in football.Wing play is utilised to drag defenders out of central positions to the sides, leaving spaces for the Center Forward to shoot. If the opposition defenders are hell bent on occupying the central positions, giving no room for the Center Forward, the Wingers themselves can drive in to shoot. |

TheGoodJoe:
I actually disagree with your view on Fisayo here. One place he shone for me yesterday was how he covered defensive gaps. He might not go haywire in pursuing opposition players with the ball but if you watch his movement, he always goes to block dangerous areas. This makes him important in defense. I am not disputing Fisayo's movements, he is very good when it comes to getting into the right places to receive a pass. I understand your fascination with Fisayo, Fisayo is built for the possession game. It is very clear. However looking closely at the point you made " He always goes to block dangerous areas. This is something that every outfield player does on the pitch, Fisayo is even one of the poorest when it comes to reading the opponents from a defensive point of view. He always goes to block dangerous areas and yet couldn't intercept a single pass. |

TheGoodJoe: Fisayo Dele Bashiru is intelligent in one touch play and will compliment the others in helping us keep the ball high up in the opposition's half and the tree of them can also create good chances for forwards. Yes, he will help keep the ball high up in the opposition's half because he is very tidy with short passes. No one in the team bests him in the game of accurate short passes. His movements are very good. He is a fine dribbler, and can score goals. However, He is not that creative, this limits him in the attacking midfield role and his poor showings in contributions to defense throws him further down the pecking order in our midfield setup. You will only notice Bashiru when we have the ball, but without the ball he just strolls. In my opinion, his uniquenesses does not gift us any advantage, he lacks in the very things we need the most. We need midfielders who can put in decent defensive shifts. We need very creative midfieldersWe need midfielders with a sound reading of the gameHamzat Ojediran and Christanthus Uche are the midfielders we should be discussing about. Alex lwobi and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are more like forwards to me. We need genuine midfielders. |
