Kog45: Oga Meli, you don’t rate Lookman and it’s normal in football just say you got it wrong than telling us that you never seen him played like he did against Benin.
He did it against tougher opponents Cameroon,Angola or you forgot his cross to Osimhen against EG.He worked offensively and defensively in Afcon….Lookman is a player to be rated after Osimhen in eagles.
I don’t rate Ekong but I ate my words.Ekong is my number one in eagles defence, even in my top three rated eagles players list…Osimhen,Lookman and Ekong.Another player that is catching my attention is Onyedika, his foots on the ball is a class.

He has never played in the manner he did against Benin. How is this difficult to see.
Please if possible bench Iwobi. Play Onyedika Ndidi (since man wants advance role lately) and Dele Bashiru as AM (can support defense unlike okocha's nephew)
Onyedika cannot bench Iwobi. They are different players.
Hotepking: The midfield won us this game, see how fluid we looked when Onyedika and Dele-Bashiru came in, it became an overload of chances and better ball progression. We've been stuck with the flat and lethargic Ndidi/Aribo midfield for too long that it's time to start phasing out those generation of players...the future of our midfield should be built around Onyedika- Dele-Bashiru-Yusuf- Onyeka and potentially Hamzat Ojediran from Lens and Chrisantus Uche. Iwobi will of course provide the leadership as a veteran
Ndidi did very well yesterday. He still has it in him.
The same Rohr we criticised sorely for parading a lean midfield has now eight midfielders in his squad. Something is very wrong, and it is clear that the whole blame is not with him. The lean midfield affected his style of play.
Let us not underestimate Benin. They may have one or two Kelechi Nwakali that is better than the midfielders we parade.
Raphael Onyedika, Alhassan Yusuf and Alex lwobi, are my preferred midfield three. This combination will win duels, dominate the midfield with passes and ball retention, progress the ball to the final third, and support the attack.
It will take a lot of nerves for any S.E coach to play those three.
robosky02: AfCON Qualifier Ghana stunned by Angola at thier fortress Baba Yara stadium:
Ghana 0-1 Angola
In front of a packed Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana’s Black Stars kicked off their AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Angola. The match was seen as an opportunity for redemption for Lawrence Ati-Zigi and his teammates after their early exit from the last AFCON tournament.
Despite fielding an attacking line-up featuring Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Ghana failed to find the back of the net. Angola’s Palancas Negras stunned the hosts deep into stoppage time when Felicio Milson struck to seal a shock victory.
The game is more about tactics. No matter how star studded your team.
typicalgamer: You need to show a video proof that our highest rated player is not technical
Shame on you
Because we don’t watch osimehn only you can see things we don’t
Read again the post you quoted, then come back and apologise.
BascoVanVeli: After weeks of thinking about the Super Eagles my final conclusion is we need to forget this dream of playing beautiful football and just try to win games. Basically what I'm saying is we need to get back to ABF
There was nothing beautiful about our play, we only tried to keep the ball.
Finidi tried to impress with bids at ball retention but lacked real inventions at breaking down his opponent's defenses, and attacking attempts.
It appears the training sessions were all about passing and ball retention, with no clear intentions to actual winning.
Finidi's invitations of players shows a man who borrows theories, but lacking the real intelligence to work it out.
TheGoodJoe: Just because you saw Kelechi Nwakali's name , you jumped in to argue. Meliforme's point is so simple.
Finidi used a long ball playing style of play. His game was built around the long ball. He is wondering why he did not recruit players who are the best long ball specialists in the team. Even Onyedika, who was the best among who Finidi invited when it comes to long ball was left on the bench in the start.
What you posted is totally devoid of the point he made.
[quote author=komekn post=130710155]Most players don't resort to long Balls as a main skill set strategy because they have other football competencies and attributes.
lbrichman2: We lack a purposeful and systematic approach to both appointments and call-ups How do we want the SE to play? That should determine the profiles of coaches we look at and also the players we call up
But no We jumble everything together and hope for the best
Finidi targeted a long ball strategy against the South Africans, he did not invite Kelechi Nwakali and Ifeanyi Mathew. Raphael Onyedika that he did invite even started from the bench.
Kog45: Ejuke is not underrated but when you had a wrong move and one career looks stagnant, people we believed you are done but I want to say Antwerp moved was a turning point and good that Sevilla signed him but now left for him to kick start on a good note in La liga cuz this move must not be like bundesliga moved o.
