first of all stop making a force about the anguish and blood on your hands bullshit,no one is putting a gun to his head to do what he doesnt wanna do,neither is anyone forcing or pressurizing him, he's a grown man, ethics and conscience are 2 differnt things, the point hear is if putting ethics aside,he finds it in himself to do it then why not save a life and if his conscience truly wouldnt let him, he still has to help the ''15 year old'' who is actually a child and dint ask for what happened to her out of this situation

U need to talk to ur account officer in that bank or at least an official who should clearify cos from my knowledge of fixed deposit and from my calculations, its only 1k less cos the 12% interest on 1million is for 365days and then multiplied by 30days and it comes to 9,863 so get clearance
however,its never really worth fixing money with this banks especially if its not a huge amount and even then why should your money be working for someone else?

but i know its similar for most banks,for 1 million its not more than 13% interest for 365days
