Who has flown Egyptair recently here? I hope I have no surprises.

Meanwhile it appears airlines have reverted to 634/$ as exchange rate.

What kind of gifts would you buy for village people abeg?
Travelled with them 2 weeks ago, aircraft was a bit tight couldn't really stretch my legs, had a 2 hour delay at Heathrow, asides that I think it was OK. Not fantastic but not bad either, somewhere in the middle.

Option 1

Maintain speed limits all the time, otherwise, no more speed awareness course for you.

Its either points or fine or court or combinations
Thank you

Good day my correct people, I just got a notice of intended prosecution for exceeding speed limit (drove 35mph in a 30mph zone). Abeg how do i go about it and what are the consequences. Thanks all
So I got a response from the police and was given one of three options
1) Attend a Speed awareness course
2) Fixed penalty charge
3) Going to magistrate court
Abeg which option is the best o. From my little research, looks like option 1 is the best as there will be no points deduction. But I thought I should still sample the opinion of the elders in the house. Thanks

Hi my good people, I just moved into a house and got water bill £754.90 per year (£62 per month) which I feel is quite high. Its a 3 bedroom in Cardiff. There's no meter so it's rateable value. Abeg is there any way I can bring this down?

Good morning my good people, my iom TB cert expires on 29th march. Must I do my biometrics before that expiry date or I just need to book for biometrics before the expiry date and do the actual biometrics later.

Hello my good people, trust we're all doing great. I am looking at getting a new job, I've been on my present job for less than two months. I keep getting the same questions from potential employers, "why do you want to leave your present appointment less than two months into the job". Truth is that I took the job just to settle down, its below my salary expectations and quite far from where I stay, so the main reason is the pay and the distance.
How do I answer this question without looking like someone who doesn't know what he wants, and not give them the impression that I'll be off again in a few months. (One actually asked me how is he sure I won't be moving again soon).

@dduchess90 and other gurus, we're trying to apply for visa for our children. The MA and dependent's visa expires 30 January 2024, we have 2k pounds tuition balance and we're outside London. Please how do we calculate the POF for 3 children. Thanks in anticipation.

Well done!

Did you do this with your Nigerian license?

If so, how high was the insurance, if you don't mind sharing, please.

I'm trying to figure out if using that to register a vehicle in the interim is worthwhile.
Used International drivers licence, got insurance for 107 pounds per month

@semmyk and other elders in the house.
Good day chief and other gurus in the house. I can see u are my senior engineering colleague. I am an electrical engineer and relatively new in UK, I will like advice on how best to progress as an engineer in this terrain, what to do to improve my chances, how to become chartered (if it's necessary) and any other advice generally. I have a fairly ok job but still looking for better options especially one with sponsorship. I am a beneficiary of some great tips from wonderful platform, they've really assisted in our settling down.

Let's hope for an architect to come along to provide insights?
In the meantime, using my engrg background, I went checking and came up with the following
The body that regulates architecture in the UK is the ABA - https://arb.org.uk/
The official register is collated at https://architects-register.org.uk/

As with anything else in the UK, starting point is the gov site.
To become an architect - www.gov.uk/architect
Process, qualifications, exams - https://arb.org.uk/architect-information/applying-for-registration-for-the-first-time/i-hold-overseas-non-recognised-uk-qualifications/

See: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/architects-registration-board

While still in 9ja, let your friend join this institute.
www.architecture.com/join-riba
Pls note just as in engrg, the regulatory body is different from the professional body.

Being a senior architect in 9ja, what registration does (s)he holds and with of the body does (s)he belongs to in 9ja?

My personal view
Anyone that is a qualified architect in 9ja (Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) Professional Practice Examination (PPE)) should not have it that difficult following the UK ARB route (above).
NB: I still think though that there should be some sort of cross recognition (like we have in engrg like the Washington Accord et al). In any case, 9ja allows those formally qualified in their own country to 'skip' the qualification requirement towards PPE (as I understand it) PS: I'm not an architect!!!

Let your friend join RIBA as an Associate - www.architecture.com/join-riba/associate-membership
Move to the UK to do a recognised PG course in Arch, while simultaneously working towards chartered
Or attempt doing a Professional Practice PG Cert/PG Dip in Arch on part time while in 9ja and working towards chartered membership of RIBA
All the best

[UPDATED]
Found what I was hoping for. A direct process to becoming chartered. I'll assume, just like for engrg, it's not going to be a walk in the park but should be straightforward for one that is genuinely qualified and practicing professionally.
Applying for RIBA Chartered Membership via MEAP - www.architecture.com/join-riba/individual-chartered-membership/meap

Yeah her focus should be on Nigerians because they are abusing the system.

Students are normally single people

Students consisting of a grown man/wife & partner with 3- 5 kids is not normal and taxing on the system. Yes they are paying for healthcare but are they also paying for school places, books, pens, free food and all the other amenities that these children use? It is something when British Born children can't find a place in school because a new Nigerian immigrant child has taken their place.

There are more Indians and Chinese coming in as students than Nigerians but these are genuine students coming alone to study. It is the Nigerians who are packing whole families here.

Suella will be back. She probably only resigned so that she could do so before the PM.
