Sorry about the denial. Nigerians have casted that place so denial doesn’t necessarily mean you did something wrong. In 2016 I was denied a visa and changed my holiday plans and travelled to Spain for the summer. SA would have been cheaper but didn’t feel like re-applying

When did you submit ,,?? You should have applied directly for a tourist visa ... your cousin should contact the consulate in southafrica to get the necessary documents which he would give you when you want to re submit

Your host should have certified the document at any South African police station free of charge and scan to you .

Certify at foreign affairs Abuja, 500 naira per copy. You submit before 12 and collect from 3/4pm (forgot exact time) same day.

Not sure if one has to notarize before you certify or if its d same thing. Good luck!

5k to notarize? That's terrible expensive. Even legalization is about 7-10k if a 3rd party is doing it for you.

I don't really think they are different. Every marriage certificate submitted to the South Africa Embassy is expected to be certified at ministry of foreign affairs.
I'm particular about SA embassy because no other embassies from where I have processed visa had ever requested marriage certification from me.

The requirement is actually ridiculous. I also had court wedding and it was the certificate from the court that I submitted. Are they saying court wedding certificate is not genuine enough?

When I submitted mine, it was legalization (of my own marriage certificate) that was requested but your case and application is different. I want to believe that notarization will serve the purpose.

If it is notarization, you can do it in high court of with a lawyer. If it is legalization, Abuja straight....

Since the high court is on strike, can we use lawyer’s notary stamp?

If it's just to buttress the application, then the more reason you should not sign the form.

But hold on, is VFS saying that a document certified in SA is not tenderable to the SA high commission anywhere in the world? Cos that's ironic and laughable to say the least.
