Don't usually go for consoles, am a die-hard PC gamer, but for GTA, a console was necessary, otherwise I'd have to wait till the end of next year for the PC version to come out. Haven't launched the PS3 yet. Will do that when I get back from my vacation.A gal that's games like dis? Wow. Can I have your pin or addy? I think am in luv ![]() |

GideonG: I will post my programming story here, I am sure somebody will be inspired.Four apps that's kool. Have been planning on moving into android, so If you don't mind me asking, how has your app acceptance been so far? Do u have any paid apps? And what has been ur experience in the market? |

I came across an article on forbes about several question and answer sessions done by Instagram's CEO kelvin systrom on how he started and built the company. Follow the link for the article. http://www.forbes.com/sites/limyunghui/2012/04/09/inspiring-insights-by-instagram-ceo-kevin-systrom-the-man-who-built-a-1-billion-startup/ Now y its obviously not going 2 be easy to raise $500k as a startup in Nigeria, I still think there is a lot 2b learnt from this article specially for those who wish 2build tech startups. So pls enjoy d read and if any1 as succeeded in starting a tech, kindly share your story/challenges in relation to questions/answers from the article or just share your opinions. ![]() |
temitopecoal: i wanted to register yesterday but i was shown different type of membership so i just left it..i stay in akure,do cchub organise program only in lagosWhat types of membership did you see? Am not sure if they organise events only in lagos. They started about 3 years ago. So I think they can be permitted though if they are still confined to lagos. Running a hub isn't a small task. |
p.josh:I don't think they do. That would defeat the aim. But check their websites and contact them for details. |
@Rampng 9ice concept. Talk about true innovation! I applaud you guys. Really nice. I pray the sky be your starting point! ![]() And good luck @ the Event in Kenya. |
karferguso: Sorry, isn't that a way of advertisment for those schools you mentioned above?Huh? Smh |
temitopecoal: ok bro. I would prefer both and how do i get the ebookGoogle is your best friend! |
I think many people commenting here are forgetting so many things. Firstly, @op Uncle was most likely speaking as a Nigerian. We all know nigerian universities are no good. Even the so-called private ones. So let's stop decieving ourselves. What is the arguement here? That computer science goes beyond programming or that studying computer science in "Nigeria" is a waste of time! My answer to both is simple. They are both CORRECT! Computer science far goes beyond programming but also spending 4 good years (all things been constant e.g ASUU) in nigerian universities is sadly a long waste of time. I have meet, worked wit and seen computer science and engineering graduates from Unilag, OAU and even the so-called CU and likes incapable of "Formatting" a computer system after 4years in the university. I finished from FUTA. Comp sci students are taught maths and al sort of matrics and algebra ova and ova. Yet some can even write a simple html code. So Pls, Pls and Pls let's not decieve ourselves. Yes the certificate has its benefits but if you're speaking in terms of "knowlegde" I do rather go to some training institute for 1year than 4long years in a nigerian university studying Comp Sci. Its all a matter of focus. What you want to do. For example, If I wanted 2b a networking guy, I do direct my money toward Cisco certifications. And believe me it do take you there much faster than 4years in the university. And lastly, Computer science is far becoming to Large! In the nearest further I foresee it been dissolved into small course like network engineering, programming and the likes. |
p.josh:Co-creation hub is incubation hub for tech startups. They help you grow your tech startup. From my knowledge its not exactly like a camp for geeks and likes although they organise events that bring all sort together. What they basically do is provide you with support in terms of sourcing for funds, advise, training etc. Things that you might find difficult on your own. They can't steal your idea because they are not in the business to run any of the startups, they just give you an avenue to grow! www.cchubnigeria.com I believe you should be able to get more info from there or contact them to know more. |
Kidstell: I strongly suggest that you create an online spot where we can meet to discuss this better. If you want better graphics compared to 2go then your app will consume more data bytes hence it becomes expensive to use. Personally i think trying to re do 2go is childish. We should be talking about a whatsapp that isThis sounds better. competitive ![]() |
temitopecoal: thanks alot pal..so how do i learn d java basicsWell you can do it like me. I like to home school myself ot get "my hands dirty" like we programmers would say. Which means you do have to get another ebook hehe...its called "Teach Youreself Java in 21 days". Very good book! But if you don't like schooling yourself well I get your other option is to find some1 (probably on NL here) who will be willing to school you. I remember a thread recent were some1 offered to teach anoda java here on nl. Maybe you should find the thread and follow it. |
howardriddle: In what place could this work, Nigeria? As a rule we love shinny foreign objects so only social networks can ever work in Africa. #SpeakingFromExperience. This is just the painful truth. The web will never have upto a quater of the value it has in Developed nations. So for now, lets all develop social networks and hope our grandmas visit.I don't agree that only social networks can work in africa. That's far from the truth. Mobile apps also have a very high success possibility. |
lordZOUGA: Your app doesn't have to be based on IM to have a chat feature. It could be a business consultation platform where the consultants can chat with their clients.Well that's true. But I was refering to @op motives. |
databoy247: You can only beat your chest in your own grounds. Joomla is good and so is wordpress. They both have their tricks and methods. You can spring out any good looking website with Joomla and same with wordpress. It basically depends on where your interest lies. Personally, i will stick with wordpress and depending on the complexity of the site i would charge a minimum of 50k.Thanks. I breakdown my charges based on the site features. Like the No. of pages, Designing logo, dynamic content like Login/ Register, Optimized Mobile site etc but I seem to have problem on what to pin on this features. What do you guyz think? Also do you guyz add charges based on project period? Cos no 1 mentioned that. |

naija_swag: That's for the feeble minded programmers. If you want to build a scalable chat app like 2go, you need to build your platform from ground up, so you can have control over everything. When you depend on open source, you are planning to fail. That's true. But really, aren't you tired of chat apps? I know I am. You said what is missing is "innovation". Innovation is thinking outside the box. In fact its thinking there isn't a box in the first place! Whatapps, BBm and now WeChat have taken the chat app market (alongside 2go). So why make another chat app which would just stress both yourself and the users? That's like trying to make another Social network like facebook. My Advice is you and @op really apply innovation, think outside the box, study your environment and come up with other ideas that can be worth your time. |
PhenomenonVFX: You are wrong Javanian. Most of those guys there arent actually doing anything. Most of them cant model to save a life. I am not talking about mugs and kitchens. And the number of programmers in Nigeria is actually much more than 3D modellers. Some of them shamlessly steal readymade models from the internet and render them just for bragging rights. Sad, isnt it?Very true. Especially our inability to form teams and lack of skills to enable us work smarter. |
yawa-ti-de:Thanks. Yea I think I prefer Joomla too has it sort brings the best of drupal and Wordpress together. Thanks for quote also. |
Hi pips, The war on the use of either Joomla, Wordpress or drupal is ever continuous. However I would like to know your opinion on which you refer and why. Also provide info on a standard quote for building a CMS site for a client. Thanks |
temitopecoal: i need a group of android, ios, windows developers how do i get them urgently.help and hope d ebook is good and easy to learnThe book is easy however you need to have some basic knowledge of java programming. As for mobile developers, I won't say I know any. Myself, am still working on my android dev skillz. I don't think there are a lot of Nigerian programmers into mobile apps development. Anyway, My opinion is you do some research and probably ask here on Nairaland. |
