PoliticsFree Nnamdi Kanu Before It’s Too Late - Igbo Communities In Canada Warns by Metrix147(op): 7:59am On Oct 05, 2025
The Igbo communities in Canada have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to order the immediate and unconditional release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, over what they described as his worsening health condition and the alarming state of insecurity in the Southeast region.

In a press statement signed by the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Canada, Chief Dr. Anicetus Nwizundu (Okanga Ogadagidi) and made available to ABN TV, the group expressed deep concern over Kanu’s continued detention in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for over four years despite repeated appeals for his freedom.

“We, the Igbo people living in Canada, stand united in calling upon the Federal Government of Nigeria to intervene compassionately in this matter and facilitate the unconditional release of our brother, Nnamdi Kanu,” the statement said.

Chief Nwizundu noted that Kanu’s health condition has deteriorated seriously, as confirmed by several medical experts, including cardiologists who have examined him during hospital visits. He warned that further detention could endanger his life.

“We implore the Federal Government to act swiftly to release him from custody before it’s too late,” the statement urged.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Canada president also highlighted that Kanu’s incarceration was a result of his persistent advocacy against the marginalization of the Igbo people in Nigeria. He stressed that the Igbo community is not seeking confrontation but fairness and justice within the Nigerian federation.

“The Igbo do not seek trouble; they yearn for recognition, equality, and peace as Nigerians. Yet, they are treated as second-class citizens in their own country,” the statement lamented.

Chief Nwizundu further expressed worry over the worsening insecurity in the Southeast, describing the situation as “terrifying and disheartening.”

“There is no safety in Igboland today. One cannot travel without fear, nor sleep peacefully at night owing to insecurity pervasive across various parts of our land,” he stated.

The group maintained that releasing Nnamdi Kanu would help restore calm and unity in the region, paving the way for sustainable peace and development.

“With his release, we envision correction of many wrongs afflicting our homeland, paving the way for total peace,” Chief Nwizundu added.

EducationWe Built Schools, Govt Abandoned Them — Outcry As Ebem Ohafia Schools Collapse by Metrix147(op): 2:40pm On Oct 04, 2025
The sorry state of Ohafia Model High School and Ujurueze Primary School, Ebem Ohafia in Ohafia LGA of Abia State, has sparked outrage after an ABN TV investigation uncovered shocking neglect and abandonment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaGNF2vcL8k
At Ohafia Model High School, which serves both junior and senior sections, none of the classrooms is in usable condition. Roofs are gone, doors and windows are missing, and there are no desks or lockers. Community residents revealed that criminals now use the derelict classrooms as night hideouts, compounding the decay with security risks.

According to Mr. Ifeanyi Okali, community spokesperson, the government has failed in its responsibility to provide and maintain educational infrastructure in the area.

“It is unfortunate that most projects in Ebem Ohafia – from roads to schools – were built by our age grades. Almost all the buildings in both schools were constructed through communal efforts, and it was meant for the state government to maintain them. Unfortunately, the state and federal governments have left us to fend for ourselves. Our children cannot continue learning in ruins,” he lamented.

He acknowledged that following his earlier SOS on erosion and flooding, the Abia State Government had commenced work on two of eight active erosion sites in Ebem, but stressed that much more needs to be done.

The situation at Ujurueze Primary School, which shares boundaries with the high school, is no better. Many classrooms are in ruins, though a three-classroom block built by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, and other structures funded by age grades stand as the only functional parts of the school.

Adding to the crisis, ABN TV’s investigation found that both schools lack male teachers, raising concerns about discipline, mentorship, and the overall quality of education being offered.

The community is now calling on the Abia State Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, and relevant intervention agencies to urgently step in and restore learning conditions in the area.

“We cannot raise generations in broken classrooms,” Mr. Okali warned. “If nothing is done, the children of Ebem Ohafia will continue to suffer the consequences of neglect.”

The plight of these schools underscores the broader educational infrastructure crisis in Abia State’s rural communities, where age grades and individuals — not government — bear the burden of development.

PoliticsTinubu’s Subsidy Funds Empowering Otti’s Projects In Abia - Deputy Speaker Kalu by Metrix147(op): 8:13am On Oct 04, 2025
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has urged Abians to acknowledge the role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in supporting Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s development agenda in Abia State.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5NlMR48vB0
Kalu, speaking during the commissioning of projects in Aba, said the President demonstrated fairness and accountability by channeling funds from the removal of fuel subsidy directly to the states rather than retaining them at the federal level.

“When the president removed the oil subsidy, he did not keep the money in Abuja, he sent it to the states. Please, give credit to whom credit is due. Make sure Abians know that our president is supporting his friend, Governor Otti, so that he will release more to Abia State,” Kalu emphasized.

The Deputy Speaker maintained that recognizing the President’s contributions will encourage further federal support for ongoing projects in Abia.

PoliticsNigeria At 65: No Cause For Celebration – Udensi Speaks On Governance, Security by Metrix147(op): 9:44pm On Oct 01, 2025
Renowned security expert and Interpol Systems Consultant, Sir Chikwe Udensi, has said that Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary should be marked as a moment of solemn reflection rather than celebration.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn1mM_4apXE
He made this remark during an exclusive interview with ABN TV, as the nation commemorated its six-and-a-half decades of self-rule.

“We’re not celebrating. We are simply remembering that we are 65. There is no cause to celebrate when we compare our national progress with where others who gained independence around the same time are today,” he stated.

Udensi criticized the celebratory tone of President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day speech, noting that the claim of victory over Boko Haram was misleading.

“There’s been some progress, but the data on the crime desk does not support the claim that Boko Haram has been defeated. The government may have classified intelligence, but the evidence available to us in security consultancy says otherwise,” he stressed.

The Interpol vice president also emphasized the need for leadership rooted in sincerity, transparency, and accountability, warning that propaganda and political optics cannot replace actual development and national security.

He urged Nigerians to focus on the future rather than dwell on past failures, stressing that the country’s destiny remains one of greatness.

PoliticsEx-abia Gov. Ikpeazu Reacts To Death Sentence Rumour, Describes It As Laughable by Metrix147(op): 8:16am On Oct 01, 2025
Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has dismissed as false and laughable the viral social media reports alleging that he was sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly stealing ₦1 trillion during his tenure.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ABN TV, Ikpeazu described the publication as a poorly fabricated story lacking any iota of truth.

According to him, there is no judge in Nigeria by the name “Justice Chukwuemeka Nwogu” who was credited with delivering the alleged judgment, adding that the entire allocation of Abia State in his eight years as governor did not amount to ₦500 billion, let alone ₦1 trillion.

“This one is not news, it is laughable. No judge in Nigeria is called Justice Chukwuemeka Nwogu. The total allocation of Abia State in my eight years did not even reach ₦500 billion. So, where is the ₦1 trillion they claimed I stole coming from? When was the trial conducted?” he queried.

Ikpeazu further stressed that even if cases of fraud exist, the Nigerian judicial system does not classify financial crimes as capital offences warranting the death penalty.

“Even if it is true that there was fraud, is the punishment for fraud a capital offence? Let people be guided with the type of story they bring to the public,” he added.

The former governor urged the public to disregard the viral report, describing it as an attempt by mischief-makers to mislead Nigerians and smear his image.

PoliticsDeputy Speaker, Kalu Joins Okonjo-iweala In Geneva, Champions Fair Global Trade by Metrix147(op): 10:55am On Sep 17, 2025
Nigeria’s Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, PhD, CFR, has joined global parliamentary leaders at the 55th Session of the Steering Committee of the Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organization (WTO) taking place at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFNhd1uDLkE
Kalu’s participation follows his appointment as a member of the WTO Steering Committee, representing Nigeria alongside members from eight other countries, including the European Parliament. The conference brings together key policymakers to strengthen parliamentary engagement with the WTO, which is currently led by its Director-General, Nigeria’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Speaking upon his arrival in Switzerland on Tuesday, the Deputy Speaker reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting multilateralism and advancing fair, inclusive trade systems that benefit developing economies.

“I am honored to join Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and fellow Steering Committee Members on this global assignment to strengthen parliamentary engagement and interaction with the work of the WTO,” Kalu said.

“I remain committed to ensuring that Africa’s voice, and Nigeria’s voice in particular, resonates strongly in shaping the future of global trade governance. Our mission is to reinforce multilateralism, advance fair and inclusive trade, and guarantee that no nation is left behind in the evolving global economy.”

Kalu’s participation aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring shared prosperity. His role at the Geneva conference is expected to advance Nigeria’s interests in global trade negotiations and strengthen the country’s position in shaping policies that foster inclusive growth.

This follows Kalu’s earlier interventions at the IPU High-Level Meeting in New York earlier this year, where he called for a review of the current funding structure of the United Nations. He argued that reliance on a few major donor countries undermines multilateralism and urged for reforms to ensure more equitable decision-making.

“The prevailing dependency on a few major donor countries allows these nations to dictate priorities—embodied in the adage, ‘he who pays the piper dictates the tune,’” Kalu said in New York. “Expanding funding participation will reduce undue influence, foster equity, and facilitate greater cooperation in achieving the SDGs.”

EducationOuk’s Legacy: Education, Empowerment, Infrastructure Set Him Apart – Hon. Njoku by Metrix147(op): 3:57pm On Sep 11, 2025
Hon. Njoku Moses Chuks, National President of the Southern Nigeria Youth Assembly (SNYA), has praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for prioritizing education and youth development in his representation of Abia North Senatorial District.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbHraYkja3k
During a live interview on ABN TV’s Political Perspective, Njoku noted that Senator Kalu has sponsored numerous Abians to study abroad, particularly in professional courses, thereby building human capital that will serve the state in years to come.

“Politics without education is meaningless. OUK understands that. He’s been sponsoring Abians abroad and ensuring they return to empower others,” he said.

Njoku also cited Senator Kalu’s role in industrializing Abia North, including efforts to revitalize the cashew processing sector, which he said has created direct jobs for youths.

“Youths are now engaged through the cashew industry. That’s leadership,” he noted.

Other projects attributed to Senator Kalu include the distribution of fertilizer to local farmers, support to religious communities, and empowerment schemes that cut across gender, religion, and political lines.

“He doesn’t segregate. He gathers the youth, empowers them, and grooms future leaders,” Njoku added.

The National President of the Southern Nigeria Youth Assembly (SNYA), Hon. Njoku Moses Chuks, has described Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the most impactful senator from the South East, lauding his legacy of infrastructure, education, empowerment, and grassroots connection in Abia North Senatorial District.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbHraYkja3k
Speaking on the Political Perspective programme on ABN TV,  Hon. Njoku praised the former Abia State Governor and two-term senator for what he called “evidential projects and people-focused representation” between 2019 and 2025.

“Among the three Abia Senators, Orji Uzor Kalu is a man of iron and steel. He has gone beyond timber and caliber. He is a senator with dignity and a true Igbo senator who understands where he comes from,” Hon. Njoku stated.

Hon. Njoku emphasized that Senator Kalu’s impact spans across several sectors, including:

According to him, Senator Kalu has sponsored many young Abians to study professional courses abroad, with a deliberate focus on empowering them to return and impact others.

He noted that Orji Uzor Kalu was the first to attract road projects to many communities in Abia North, easing access to farmlands and promoting rural development.

The SNYA President praised Kalu for providing fertilizer and support for farmers, making agricultural activities easier and more profitable in Abia North.

He pointed to the senator’s role in reviving the cashew industry, which has generated employment opportunities and enhanced youth engagement in the state.

“He’s not just empowering youth with words but creating real industries,” Njoku added.

Senator Kalu was also applauded for his interventions in religious communities, promoting peace and tolerance across ethnic and faith lines in Abia.

Hon. Njoku went further to say that Senator Kalu deserves a vote of confidence from the people of Abia North. He described him as a “by-product and a builder”, who not only brought projects but also mentored leaders, including members of the House of Representatives.

“He brought the current House of Reps member from Abia North, brushed him up politically and gave him a platform,” Njoku noted.

While acknowledging the efforts of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) and Senator Austin Akobundu (Abia Central), Hon. Njoku referred to Orji Uzor Kalu as being in “a class of his own.”

“Comparing him with others is like comparing someone who knows what the President wants with those who are still finding their footing,” he said.

EducationGovernor Otti’s Education Policy Prioritizes Quality, Affordability — Aide by Metrix147(op): 1:06pm On Sep 10, 2025
The Special Adviser on Education to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Mr. Kenechukwu Nwosu, has said the administration’s education policy is firmly anchored on good governance, quality service delivery, and affordability for families across the state.

In an exclusive interview with ABN TV, Nwosu stressed that the governor is committed to making education both quantitative and qualitative, noting that pedagogy must adapt to the rapidly changing global environment.

He highlighted one of the policy innovations: separating textbooks and workbooks to reduce financial strain on parents. According to him, the old system, where pupils wrote directly inside textbooks, made them disposable and prevented younger siblings from reusing them.

“It is only fair to have textbooks preserved so that families with multiple children can reuse them. Workbooks will remain affordable and separate, allowing learners to combine the two for effective studies,” Nwosu said.

He added that this policy is informed by both his experience in education administration and book publishing, and aligns with Governor Otti’s resolve to make education sustainable, innovative, and inclusive.

Speaking in a no-holds-barred exclusive interview on Open Parliament, a flagship current affairs program on Family Love 99.9 FM Umuahia, Udensi—who joined the program virtually from Paris, France, where he is on vacation—commended infrastructural progress under Governor Otti, but faulted the state government’s handling of public funds and recordkeeping.

“There’s been some improvement in areas like infrastructure and salary payments, yes. But what we’re demanding now is truth. Transparency. Accountability. Public funds must be properly accounted for,” Udensi stated.

Udensi, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Fraud Investigators and Vice President of the International Security Association, cited conflicting figures in Abia State’s budget performance reports.

According to him, there is no alignment between claims made by the Governor and figures published by state officials. He referenced discrepancies in the reported ₦54 billion education renovation project, expressing concern that such inconsistencies signal a potential lack of due process.

“When a government announces the clearing of pension backlogs but pensioners still protest, or says ₦54 billion was used for school renovations yet we can’t find the projects—those are red flags,” he said.

In a major revelation, Udensi announced that his legal representatives have served formal Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to the Governor, Attorney General, Secretary to the State Government, and Accountant General of Abia State, demanding detailed records of state expenditures—especially funds disbursed to local governments.

He warned that failure to comply within seven days will result in a court action, as he plans to apply for an order of mandamus to compel the state to produce the requested documents.

“This is not political. I am using legal means to demand financial transparency. If the government has nothing to hide, it should make the records public,” Udensi emphasized.

Reacting to a recent press release by Governor Otti’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, who described Udensi’s claims as “mischievous and politically motivated,” the Interpol consultant dismissed the statement, calling it “childish and unworthy of serious response.”

“I won’t respond to Ekeoma. He’s not in my class. If this is how the government wants to respond to serious issues, then it’s unfortunate,” Udensi said.

He further stated that his media team would issue a comprehensive response to the government’s “personal attacks and propaganda.”

In a move many have described as unprecedented, Sir Udensi said he would personally fund a professional forensic audit of Abia State’s public finances if the government fails to meet the FOI deadline.

He stressed that his action is not politically driven but inspired by a sense of duty to the people of Abia.

“Governance is not about attacking critics with insults. It’s about facts. Leadership must be humble. Calling those who question you ‘fools’ or ‘careless’ is not the way forward,” he said in reference to recent reactions from government allies.

Closing the interview, Udensi sent a direct message to Governor Alex Otti:

“Be wary of those who praise you today; they’ll sacrifice you tomorrow. Just do what is right, and posterity will judge you well.”

CrimeGovernor Otti Reveals How Treasury Single Account Exposed Ghost Workers In Abia by Metrix147(op): 8:43pm On Sep 03, 2025
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has disclosed that his administration uncovered and closed down several fraudulent bank accounts previously operated by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state, ABN TV reports.

Speaking at the 2025 Ngwa Convention held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, Otti, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, said the discovery was made possible through the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) at the inception of his administration.

He explained that the policy enabled the government to clean up the state’s payroll system, eliminate ghost workers, and transition to a digital payment structure.

“In the early days of this administration, the Treasury Single Account was introduced and this cleaned up payrolls through verification to remove ghost workers, and moved to digital payment systems. The implication is that several fraudulent bank accounts maintained by MDAs across the state that could not be accounted for were closed, thus ushering us into better management and use of public funds for public good,” he said.

Governor Otti noted that the gains from the financial reform have enhanced the government’s capacity to pay workers and pensioners regularly, while health, education, security, and infrastructure sectors have also received significant attention.

He commended members of the Ngwa clan in the diaspora for their contributions to the development of Abia State and urged them to partner further with his administration by investing at home.

Otti assured them that Abia is now one of the safest states in the country following the introduction of Operation Crush. This joint security outfit has drastically reduced kidnappings and other violent crimes.

PoliticsGovernance Is Not Bullying — Sir Udensi Speaks Boldly On Leadership In Abia by Metrix147(op):
Renowned security expert and political figure Sir Chikwe Udensi has issued a stern rebuke against what he describes as growing arrogance and condescension in the conduct of public officials, particularly in Abia State.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPO8V2Xnyb4
His remarks come amid public discourse on transparency and accountability in governance.

In an exclusive interview with ABN TV, Sir Udensi condemned the dismissive rhetoric allegedly used by some government actors in response to citizens' calls for accountability. Citing a recent controversial comment reportedly advising critics to “go and hug transformers,” he stated that such language was unbecoming of leaders entrusted with public trust.

“Telling people to hug transformers isn’t leadership,” Udensi said. “It is not only insulting but also shows a dangerous lack of humility. Leaders must be accessible, respectful, and accountable to the people who elected them.”

Sir Udensi emphasized that leadership, especially in a democratic setting, requires empathy and respect. According to him, public service should not be reduced to a platform for personal aggrandizement or retaliatory rhetoric.

He called on elected officials to focus on delivering measurable results and answering questions raised by the electorate rather than “resorting to arrogance and name-calling.”

Udensi further warned that continued use of derogatory language by public officials could erode the fragile trust between the government and the governed. He urged those in power to cultivate a culture of humility, factual communication, and openness in all government dealings.

“When people demand clarity on how public funds are used, they’re not being enemies of the government. They’re citizens exercising their rights. A responsible government responds with facts, not fury,” he noted.

Sir Udensi concluded by reminding leaders that history only remembers those who lead with dignity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to serve — not those who rule with impunity or arrogance.

PoliticsOur Govt Is Your Govt, No Project Will Stop Midway - Otti Assures Abia Community by Metrix147(op): 2:06pm On Aug 28, 2025
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has assured the people of Ukwa East that his administration will not abandon any ongoing road projects, stressing that all roads under construction will be completed.

The Governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of the Ezumezu Ndoki Patriotic Association at the Government House, Umuahia.

Otti explained that despite challenges, roads such as the Akirikaobu and Obohia projects are still active and will be delivered. He revealed that the Akirikaobu road, which links Obingwa in Abia to Akwa Ibom State, is ongoing and will terminate in Akwa Ibom once completed.

On the Obohia road, the Governor noted that work was stalled due to complications with the original tunnel, which had been blocked. He disclosed that his administration opted for a new tunnel that is deep enough to channel floodwater to the Aba River, rather than incurring heavier costs to retrieve the old one.

“There is no road we are terminating midway. Obohia road is back to life, and if you visit now, you will see construction going on,” Otti stated.

Turning to the proposed seaport project in Ukwa, the Governor said the project would only commence after careful financial planning. He revealed that feasibility studies conducted by Chinese partners indicated that about 19.5 kilometres of dredging to the high sea would be required, which will cost a huge amount of money.

“I will not start a seaport project until I am sure of funds to complete it. We already have the approvals and licences, but viability and funding are priorities. We don’t want to start and abandon the project midway,” Otti maintained.

He thanked the Ukwa delegation for recognizing his developmental strides over the last 27 months and reassured them that his government is committed to the welfare of all Abians.

Earlier, the Mayor of Ukwa East, Mr. Chibunna Akara, hailed the Governor for the transformation in the state, saying stakeholders in Ukwa East are eager to join the “moving train.”

Also, the President of the Ezumezu Ndoki Patriotic Association, High Chief I. N. Ahunanya, commended the Governor’s efforts in infrastructure and governance. He pledged the group’s support for Otti’s re-election in 2027, urging him to entrust Ukwa East’s campaign structure to them.

CelebritiesPopular Entertainer ‘Nwayi Garri’ Slumps, Dies At August Meeting In Abia by Metrix147(op): 10:02pm On Aug 23, 2025
A day of celebration at the annual August meeting organized by the Abia State Governor’s wife in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area turned tragic on Monday, August 18, 2025, when a popular entertainer, Mrs. Nwandinma Dickson, widely known as “Nwayi Garri”, suddenly slumped and died during a performance, ABN TV reports.

She was born on October 1, 1960, and was 65 years old.

Mrs. Dickson, a native of Oza Umuebukwu in Nneji Autonomous Community, Ugwunagbo LGA, was scheduled to participate in dance and drama at the high-profile event. Dressed in her performance costume, she moved around different canopies, exchanging greetings and entertaining guests with her usual theatrics.

Eyewitnesses recounted that in the middle of her display, she stooped briefly and then slumped. Many in the audience initially mistook the incident for part of her act and continued cheering, only to realize minutes later that she was unresponsive.

The Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA quickly intervened and used his vehicle to rush her to the hospital, but medical personnel pronounced her dead on arrival.

Family members told ABN TV that the late Mrs. Dickson had initially expressed reluctance to attend the meeting but eventually decided to honor her scheduled performance.

Her sudden passing has thrown the community into deep mourning, with many describing it as a devastating loss of a woman who used her talent to bring joy to others.

CrimeAbia Police Raid Kidnap Hideout, Neutralize Suspects, Recover Weapons by Metrix147(op): 10:49am On Aug 23, 2025
The Abia State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, following a successful raid on a notorious criminal hideout linked to the abduction of the Director of Sobaz Oil and Gas earlier this year.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka and made available to ABN TV , operatives acting on credible intelligence traced the suspects to Ikot Ukpon Village in Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, around 8:30 pm, police stormed the camp, arresting six suspected kidnappers. Items recovered from the operation included two AK-47 rifles, fifty-seven live rounds of ammunition, one locally made pistol, six magazines, and a large bag of charms and spiritual materials.

The suspects were linked to the March 4, 2025, abduction of the Sobaz Oil and Gas Director along Azumiri Road, Ukwa East LGA of Abia State — an incident that also claimed the lives of ASP Tanko Naptip of the Counter Terrorism Unit in Rivers State, Anayo Ukwu, and the Managing Director of DozzMan Filling Station, Mr. Chidozie Confidence Chijioke.

However, as operatives exited the camp after the successful raid, they were ambushed by other gang members who attempted to rescue their arrested colleagues. A fierce gun battle ensued, during which the six suspects sustained gunshot wounds while trying to escape and later died on the way to the hospital.

Other fleeing members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds, while two police officers sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that criminals have no safe haven in the state. He assured that the manhunt for fleeing suspects will continue in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

He also urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious individuals, especially anyone with bullet injuries, to the nearest police station or through the Command’s hotlines: 08035415405, 08079210003, 08079210004, and 08079210005.

“See something, say something,” the CP stressed.
