Politics / Flood Claims 14 Lives In Niger by metronaija3: 7:54pm On Sep 01, 2018
The Director Relief, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Garba Salisu, says 14 persons have so far died due to flooding in different part of the state.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Minna, he said that the agency had engaged the services of no fewer than 200 local divers in affected communities for rescue operations.

He said that the local divers would complement the efforts of agency rescue unit whenever the need arose.

Salisu also appealed to residents of the state to desist from building on waterways and to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse to reduce the effect of flooding in the state.

He also urged communities experiencing gully erosion to relocate whenever the threat of flood became high.

“My major fear is that, most rains are usually at night when the people are sleeping, but the only way is to create environment for smooth flow of water’’, he said.

The director also called on communities that are prone to flooding to, as a matter of urgency, vacate the area temporarily to avoid disaster.

Crime / Lagos Girl Allegedly Shoots Man Fatally In The Head by metronaija3: 2:33pm On Aug 31, 2018
A teenage girl was on Friday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged murder.

The 16-year-old had appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Adedayo, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Her plea was not taken and was remanded at the Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Idi-Araba, Mushin, Lagos.

Adedayo directed that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 7 at Cele Bus Stop, Ijanikin, on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

He alleged that the accused had shot, Abraham Umaru, 27, in the head.

The offences, Uwadione noted, contravened Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 which stipulates a death sentence for offenders.

The case has been adjourned until Sept. 5 for the DPP’s advice

Politics / Buhari Departs For China, Holds Bilateral Talks With President Jinping by metronaija3: 7:59pm On Aug 30, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari will on Friday depart for Beijing, China, to participate in the 7th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) scheduled to hold between Sept. 3 and 4.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

According to the presidential aide, the president’s first engagement in Beijing will be an interactive session with the Nigerian Community in China at the Nigerian Embassy.

He said, before the formal opening of the FOCAC Summit, President Buhari in his capacity as current Chair of ECOWAS, would deliver remarks at the High-Level Dialogue between Chinese and African leaders, business representatives and African entrepreneurs.

He added that the Nigerian President was scheduled to join President Jinping and other African leaders for the opening and roundtable sessions of the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit.

The theme of the summit is “Towards an even Stronger China-Africa Community with a shared Future.”

Shehu revealed that after the FOCAC Summit, President Buhari would hold bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to discuss infrastructure financing for strategic projects in Nigeria.

He stated that their discussion would also cover the upgrading of Nigeria-China relations “from strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership.”

“The President will also use the occasion of his audience with the Chinese leadership to assess the progress made so far in Chinese interventions in Nigeria’s key priority infrastructure projects, particularly ongoing projects in the railway and power sectors.

“It is noteworthy that since the last FOCAC VI Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa in December 2015 – the first attended by the Nigerian leader – and his successful State visit to China in April 2016, the current administration has pushed forward practical cooperation with China in the areas of infrastructure construction, trade, investments, finance, power, agriculture, education cooperation, among others,’’ he said.

It would be recalled that President Buhari has consistently acknowledged Chinese support for infrastructure development in Nigeria.

In January 2018 while receiving the Board of Directors of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, the President had said:

‘‘We send our gratitude to the Chinese for all their support to Nigeria. Since independence, no country has helped our country on infrastructural development like the Chinese.

“In some projects, the Chinese help us with 85 per cent payment, and soft loans that span 20 years. No country has done that for us.’’

The statement said President Buhari would be accompanied to Beijing by his wife, Aisha, who was scheduled to participate in a Spouses’ Programme on China-Africa at the Great Hall of the People, under the theme, ‘‘Joining Hands for a Future of AIDS.’’

Also on the President’s entourage are Governors Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Akinwunmi Ambode, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Rochas Anayo Okorocha of Bauchi, Lagos, Jigawa and Imo States respectively.

Others are Senators Abdullahi Adamu, George Akume, Godswill Akpabio and Aliyu Wamakko representing Nasarawa, Benue, Akwa Ibom and Sokoto States respectively.

Also accompanying the President are: the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and Minister of FCT, Muhammad Bello

Others are Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah; Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma; Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu; Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, and Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar; and the Group Managing Director (NNPC), Maikanti Baru are also part of the president’s entourage

Politics / Why I Joined APC – Ex- Gov. Uduaghan by metronaija3: 12:10pm On Aug 29, 2018
Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan making was one of the attendees at the Caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Presidential Villa, Abuj on Tuesday evening.

Uduaghan was a two-term governor of the oil rich state, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party between 2007 and 2015.

In recent times, there have been reports of his switch to the APC.

The presence of Uduaghan at the meeting was therefore a confirmation of the ex-governor’s defection to the ruling party.

In a statement he issued late Wednesday, Uduaghan attributed his defection to APC to the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to APC.

Read the full statement below

The toughest challenge for any leader in the Niger Delta since 1997 has been the issue of Peace and Security. For over 12 years, I was deeply involved in the management of the issues of the region, first as Secretary to State Government, SSG, and then as Governor of Delta State for 8 years. Strategically, we had ENGAGEMENT as our major tool. This involved government officials, with me in the forefront (sometimes personally going into the creeks without security at nocturnal hours), community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, our youths, retired military officers, activists, etc. Of course, ensuring that Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, was active was also part of the engagement process.

Encouraging Interests, Activities

Since the inception of the current All Progressives Congress, APC, administration at the federal level, there has been an encouraging interest and activities by President Muhammadu Buhari to bring a permanent solution to the Niger Delta crisis. This has pointed in a direction that is at once progressive and developmental.

Topmost in these activities are the ENGAGEMENT PROCESSES. Rather than using the military to harass our people, the Buhari administration has embarked on various engagement processes that have led to agreements and brought hope to the people of the Niger Delta.

In the last years, Mr. President has personally engaged several regional leaders and youths. Senior officials of his administration also engaged many Niger Delta leaders and youths. Very significant is that Mr. President mandated the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo SAN, to visit virtually all the oil producing states, engaging various stakeholders. This is unprecedented in the history of the region. Such engagement processes have brought some measure of peace in the Niger Delta. Things can only get better.

Beyond the engagement processes, however, the Buhari administration has embarked on some infrastructural and human capital development activities in the region. In Delta State, the opening of a Maritime University; the setting up of a steering committee for the EPZ (GAS CITY), the plan for a deep sea port, the dredging of the Escravos-Warri River; the opening of the railway line to Delta Steel Company, the soon to be flagged off, by Mr. President, the Omadino-Escravos Road that will pass through many riverine communities; the various road construction works by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the various TCN projects across the State are some of the positive activities in the region.

There are also various human capital development programmes especially the school feeding and the “social security net” that is making 5,000 Naira available to the poor, the continuation of the YouWin programme, the various SME programmes, and several other projects across the region have brought hope to the people.

Indeed, once Mr. President was able to set his priorities pursuant to creating an environment for peace in the region, it became incumbent on every well-meaning Niger Deltan and Nigerian to assist the process of building an economically prosperous nation.

In this era of partisan politics, it is necessary for the people of the Niger Delta, and Delta State in particular, to identify more with the Federal Government led by the APC. By so doing, we can push some of the agreements between our leaders and the Federal Government through, and also engage the government to do more. Politics is about interests.

The Niger Delta is a major area of interest for me, because I staked my life going into the creeks severally without security and sometimes coming back at night negotiating peace. I will, therefore, give the strongest support to any President that shows commitment in the affairs of the Niger Delta. I call on, and enjoin, other well-meaning leaders in the region, who have very useful contributions to make, to come on board and join hands in helping this Federal Government to pursue a robust development agenda that would uplift our people. Whatever milestone that appears not to have been achieved yet is not for lack of efforts. Joining hands with and supporting the process will lead to a faster delivery on expectations.

It is in the pursuit of this noble objective that I’m offering myself to help drive a process that would give the lives of our people in the Niger Delta more meaning. President Muhammadu Buhari needs people who will join hands with him to uplift our people. From my political experience, you have to be well represented and actively so at the “board room” when decisions are being taken. Delta State must be well represented. Niger Delta must be well represented.

It is noteworthy to state that some organisations have been deeply involved in efforts to develop the Niger Delta and can always be relied on to collaborate with our President. It is also noteworthy to add that some previous administrations made significant efforts to develop the region. The current administration made such a significant impact in spite of the fact that apart from Edo State, President Buhari did not score the required 25% in the entire Niger Delta in the election that brought him into government in 2015. This speak volumes of his genuineness to uplift the Niger Delta. Such an administration should be encouraged by the people of the Niger Delta. We can never be sure of the genuiness of another person who becomes the President.

I have, therefore, after series of consultations and prayers, taken the decision to leave the PDP and join the APC. In doing this, I want to thank the numerous leaders, supporters and interest groups that have been urging me to remain in PDP. I am happy that after explaining some of the deeper issues to you, some of you that are politicians have agreed to join the APC in the near future. So I am going into APC as “John the Baptist” to the numerous Deltans that are coming in, soon – very soon.

God bless you all.

Borno State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Haruna Mshelia, has said Acute Watery Diarrhoea, AWD, has hit Borno State with 1,068 cases in 10 Local Government areas of the state.

Of the reported cases, he said, 25 patients were hospitalised at the Benisheikh Hospital and Dala and El-Miskin treatment centres.

Dr. Mshelia made the revelation yesterday, while briefing journalists on the sensitisation of public on hygiene and sanitation to prevent water-borne diseases.

He attributed diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases outbreak to open “defecation and poor sanitary conditions” in Borno internally-displaced persons, IDPs, camps and communities.

He said: “To prevent outbreaks of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases, like cholera, there must be public awareness on personal hygiene and sanitation. They are critical in preventing such diseases that claimed 61 lives last August in the state.”

On whether there was loss of lives, he said: “No one has died yet from AWD. Out of the 100 cases of diarrhoea reported early this year, we had one or two cases of cholera at Baga Doro, Borno State.”

He said the protocols of reporting outbreaks of cholera, included taking samples to the laboratory for instant test.

He added that “the response team has to confirm that it is cholera, before reporting it to Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.”

Crime / PHOTO: Security Guard’s Son,others Plot Kidnap Of Professor, Demand N7.5m Ransom by metronaija3: 6:49pm On Aug 28, 2018
The police in Benin, have arrested three persons, 23-year-old man, Adamu Aminu, Tamuno Diepriye Samuel (19) and Ovie Raymond (21), for allegedly conniving to kidnap and kill one Joshua Aiseku Unuigboje, a Professor Emeritus, if he failed to pay an equivalent of N7.5 million into a Turkish bank account.

Adamu Aminu who hailed from Kaduna State, came to Sabongida Ora with his parents as a young boy, and lived in the house of the Professor who employed his father as with his father as security guard.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Babatunde Kokumo, who paraded the three with 17 others suspects, said “up to the time this offence was committed, Adamu’s father was still living under the Emeritus Professor’s house as his security man.”
He further disclosed that the Professor was responsible for the education of the Aminu till he graduated from secondary school, after which he left to somewhere in Port Harcourt, where he met the members of his kidnap gang and planned the dastardly act.
“These are those who have made an attempt to kindap Professor Emeritus, Joshua Ubuigboje from Saboginda-Ora. They have demanded for an equivalent sum of N7.5m from the Emeritus Professor.

“They have equally directed the professor to pay the equivalent sum of N7.5 million into a Turkish bank account made available for that purpose.

“It will interest members of the public to know that Aminu’s father remains a security man in the Professor’s house.

“Aminu was taken to the Professor’s house when he was a baby and the Professor has been taken the responsibility of sending Aminu to school and even when he was thrown out of school, at a point, the professor still looked for another school.

“For being untrainable, he was thrown out of school in Saboginda-Ora but the Professor felt he could still be reformed and for that reason, he got another school for Aminu but behold, Aminu who thereafter turned kidnapper, has arranged with his members of his criminal gang in Rivers State to kidnap the Professor,” Kokumo said.
Narrating his involvement, Aminu who confessed to the crime, admitted that the Professor was good to him.
“It is the work of the devil and I am not a kidnapper. All what I said to him was just a mere threat and I did not mean it. I am harmless.

“I came up with the idea of the kidnapping myself and I decided to involve my friend, Prince Diepriye Samuel.

“I told the Professor of his present condition of him being crowned a king in Saboginda-Ora and that many persons are against him.

“So I said to myself if we can come up with some ideas as to try to convince him that we are working with his opponent to stop him for being crowned unless he pays us the money we have asked for.

“The Professor Emeritus was a good man to me. He has never punished or tortured me but I was not that comfortable living with him. He was a nice man to me but my parents were poor and I was not able to raise money to further my education after my secondary education. That was why the idea came into my mind,” he said.
On his part, Tamuno Diepriye Samuel, said he only helped Aminu to send the text message to the Professor , while Ovie Raymond said he helped to procure the Turkish bank account from another of his friend for use in the operation.

Family / Early Morning Fire Kills 2 Kids, Destroys Property In Delta by metronaija3: 8:51am On Aug 28, 2018
Two children were on Monday feared dead in an early morning fire at Igbudu in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire, which occurred at about 2 a.m, also destroyed property, worth millions of naira.

The victims included one-year-old Wealth Enorke and four-year-old Kesiena Lucky, said to be children of two sisters, Elohor Lucky and Ufuoma.

Eyewitness account said the incident might have been caused by a lighted candle allegedly put by the grandmother of the deceased children.

The account further said that the grandmother, a kerosene retailer, might have purchased adulterated kerosene, which caught the flame from the burning candle.

It was learnt that the woman succeeded in rescuing four of the children in her custody before she raised the alarm that attracted their neighbours.

The fire was said to have spread to other parts of the building and trapped the deceased before help could come to them.
Speaking on the incident, Lucky’s mother said that she left their apartment at about 1 a.m. for one Mama Sola’s apartment before she was alerted about the fire.

“I later left Mama Sola’s apartment for Tuwere place and while I was still there, a neighbour alerted me about the incident at about 2 a.m.

“Before I got there, everything had been razed down completely,” said Elohor, who was reported to be a single mother.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Mohammed Muatafa, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate.

“It’s true. It is an unfortunate incident. Two children, one-year-and-four-month with four-year-old died in the fire,” he said.

Politics / Osun 2018: Again Court Says Adeleke Not Guilty Of Certificate Forgery by metronaija3: 4:23pm On Aug 27, 2018
An Osun High Court in Osogbo on Monday dismissed a fresh suit challenging Sen. Ademola Adeleke as the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for the Sept. 22 gubernatorial election in the state.

The Presiding Judge, Justice David Oladimeji, dismissed the suit because the plaintiffs withdrew the case against Adeleke.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plaintiffs, Mr Oyetunji Suredi and Mr Olagboye Adedamola, had on Aug. 20 approached the court, challenging the candidacy of Adeleke as the PDP candidate.
In the fresh suit, the plaintiffs sought an interlocutory injunction restraining Adeleke from parading himself as the candidate of the Osun PDP over alleged forged school certificate.
However, at the resumed hearing on Monday, counsel to the plaintiff, Abdulramon Okunade, told the court that his clients had reached an agreement to withdraw the suit and asked for an adjournment.

But the defense counsel, Mr Nathaniel Oke, opposed the adjournment, saying that the case should be dismissed since the applicants had resolved to withdraw the matter.

The court thereafter dismissed the suit and awarded N50,000 cost against the plaintiffs.

NAN recalls that Oladimeji had earlier dismissed a similar case against Adeleke, stating that the constitution does not require the defendant to pass his secondary school examination to contest elective position.

Although the judge in his Aug. 8 judgment held that the documents presented by Adeleke contained damaging errors, he noted that it could be addressed separately since the plaintiffs did not include it in their prayers.

Adeleke had won the primary after he garnered 1,569 votes to beat his closest rival, Ogunbiyi, who polled 1,562.

Politics / Angry Youths Pelt Gov. Obaseki With Sachet Water by metronaija3: 10:26pm On Aug 22, 2018
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State narrowly escaped an attack by some unidentified youths in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of the State, who allegedly pelted his convoy with serchets of water.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the Governor allegedly went to consult with leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the area, in connection with the party’s forthcoming primaries for the 2019 general elections.

The attackers were said to have been dressed in an attire with the inscription of an Esan youth organisation.

There had been the speculation that the Governor was advocating the adoption of a consensus arrangement for the primaries as against the direct primaries preferred by some party members in the area to elect the flag bearers.

It was gathered that the angry youths stormed the venue of the meeting, accusing the Governor of allegedly discriminating against the district in the political affairs of the State.

The Governor was however said to have been rescued by some security operatives in the area.

A source at the Government House, who did not want his name in print and would neither confirm nor deny the incident, merely said that “the Governor is hale and hearty.”

The State Chairman of APC, Mr. Anselm Ojezua, however confirmed the attack, noting that the incident was under investigation.

He hiwever added that the perpetrators had no connection with the APC.

“We are investigating the incident. I really do not know the motive for it but I can only tell you that those who did it were not APC youth.

“They wore the paraphernalia of the Esan Youth Movement. They invaded the arena to do what they did; I think it was more of a personal agenda than a political agenda,” Ojezua said.

Commenting on the speculation that the Obaseki and the National Chairman of the APC, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, had disagreed over the method to adopt for the primaries, Ojezua said that the party’s candidates would only emerge through direct primaries, if the option of a consensus failed.

He said, “There is no truth at all (about the disagreement) because either process is recognised by our constitution. We in Edo State have always made our preference for a consensus (arrangement).

“We will only go for direct primaries, if we fail to achieve a consensus.”

Politics / Sallah: School Shares Out 60 Cows Among 2,000 Families In Lagos, Ogun by metronaija3: 1:10pm On Aug 22, 2018
In the spirit of Sallah, the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) Foundation in Ogun on Wednesday distributed raw meat to more than 2,000 less privileged families in Lagos and Ogun states.

Mr Ercan Yilmaz , the Principal of the school, said 60 cows were slaughtered early on Wednesday and distributed to the people.

Yilmaz said 1,500 families from Lagos and Ogun benefitted from the gesture while 500 families from other states in the Southwest also collected their shares.

He said the lists of the beneficiaries were obtained from mosques, churches, while other stakeholders such as religious leaders and public service workers — Police and local government officials also benefitted.

“We also extended the gesture to the Ministry of Education, SUBEB, among other stakeholders as a symbol of love,” he said.

The gesture, according to Yilmaz, is aimed at touching lives of the less privileged people as part of the college’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS).

“Our belief is that any establishment or corporate entity should endeavour to touch lives of people in its immediate community.

“This is why our branches in other parts of the federation takes care of the distribution in states within their region.

“As it was done in previous years, the gesture is done simultaneously by our sister branches throughout the federation and similar programmes are also replicated during Christmas, ” he said.

The Principal said the gesture was in partnership with sponsors of the Foundation which include parents, Turkish living in Nigeria and other well meaning Nigerians.

He noted that the NTIC Foundation also intervenes in the provision of facilities such as boreholes, community health services, scholarships, among other assistance to indigent beneficiaries, communities and the less privileged.

Yilmaz advised that Nigerians should always use occasions such as Sallah to promote unity in the country, saying all hands should be on deck to put smiles on the faces of the people.

“We encourage other well-meaning individuals and organisations to participate in the act of giving, for it is in giving that we brighten smiles and keep the light of our faith glowing.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigeria Tulip International College, formerly Nigeria Turkish International College, started philanthropic gestures since 2005.

Politics / Ebonyi Suspends Collection Of Personal Income Tax, Illegal Levies by metronaija3: 10:54pm On Aug 20, 2018
The Ebonyi Government on Monday suspended the collection of consolidated revenue, income tax and property rates in the state until further notice.

Gov. David Umahi, who announced this in Abakaliki during a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), said the suspension was to enable harmonisation and address grey issues of multiple taxation being collected by illegal tax collectors.

Umahi also ordered that all collections of revenue in arrears should stop and noted that the government would not allow the oppression of anybody.

“All income tax are hereby suspended until further notice. We will advocate for an operation to catch them.

“No collection of tax from market women without shops in the market and anyone culpable will be sentenced to five years in prison,” Umahi said.

The governor also suspended the collection of tax and revenue from hawkers and abolished revenue collection across the local government areas and all activities of revenue contractors.

He also approved N150 million grants for market women without shops in the state capital and urged each local government council in the state to assist petty traders.

He noted that henceforth all revenue collectors in the state would appear in their uniforms for easy identification.

Umahi directed the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to set up a committee on revenue to hold a meeting with market women, traders, council chairmen, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to come up with an acceptable revenue they were to pay.

The governor, however, ordered the commissioner for lands and survey to moderate house rents in the state.

Politics / 1600 Members Dump APC In Edo by metronaija3: 11:29am On Aug 20, 2018
No fewer than 1,650 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have dumped the ruling party in Edo State.

The members, from the 12 wards of Oredo Local Government Area of the State, resigned their membership of the party yesterday.

Spokesman of the former APC members, Omo-Osagie Efosa, who addressed journalists in Benin City, the state capital, pointed out that they decided to resign their membership of the party because the “change mantra,” which was what brought them into the party had failed.

Omo-Osagie also listed the undemocratic manner in which the party was run by the state leadership and the “cabal like manner“ in which cronies and political jobbers were secretly anointed by some party leaders to conduct the last congresses in the state as part of their reasons.

Omo-Sagie further claimed that during the party’s council primaries, of which he was a front runner for the chairman in Oredo LGA, he was arm-twisted and edged out of the race after he had paid for and collected nomination form.

He said, “They secretly selected councillors and chairmen as candidates for the election and were not allowed to face the electorate in the primaries.

“Even when there were complaints that some leaders were collecting huge sums of money from aspirants, the party blatantly refused to entertain the complaints nor did it investigated them to give victims the needed justice.”

Politics / N100,000 For Corps Members Monthly- Omoyele Sowore by metronaija3: 1:06pm On Aug 19, 2018
Presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore has said that members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will get N100,000 monthly if he is elected as President in 2019.

Sowore said this while officially announcing the political platform for his presidential campaign in Abuja.

According to the SaharaReporters publisher, Federal civil servants will also be paid the same minimum wage as corps members.

Vanguard reports that Sowore said “Hundred Thousand Naira is what we plan to provide for Federal Civil Servants in the country and for Youth Corps members (NYSC), we have planned to pay the same amount. Every Youth Corps member would get the same amount as government worker.”
Announces political party

The presidential aspirant also announced that he believes his presidential ambition will be realised in the African Action Congress (AAC).

He said “The very day we have all being waiting for has come. Today is the day the revolution we have been asking for will start in Nigeria. I have been saying for a long time that the day we launch our party will become the expiration day for the APC and PDP.

“What has happened today is a culmination of serious works and mobilizations. He continued.

“Everybody in Nigeria had expected I would join one of the existing political parties but we decided that our kind of agenda; our programs and gigantic plans for Nigeria, cannot be accommodated within the existing political structure and we decided to launch our own political party.

“Today, we have the party that is known as the African Action Congress (AAC). The reason for choosing Africa is strategic. We are looking beyond Nigeria immediately because for every ten Africans you see, five to seven of them are Nigerians”.
AAC's dream

According to Sowore, the AAC’s dream is to transform Nigeria and Africa.

The presidential aspirant said his party’s vision is to create jobs, overhaul the health sector, provide power supply, among many others.

“A life of abundance in security, in power, in infrastructure, a life without corrupt old cargoes who have destroyed our educational system, health system and infrastructure. A life that has economy that works for all that provides jobs for young people, a life of opportunities so that the child of nobody can become somebody in Nigeria,” he added.
