The Lagos State Government has arrested 100 suspected members of the dreaded cult group, Badoo who have been terrorizing residents of the State especially in the Ikorodu axis.

This is just as the State Government has cautioned residents to desist from carrying out jungle justice on suspected members of the gang, as government would leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of any dastardly act to justice.

For some time now, the members of the Badoo cult group have been fingered in violent killings in Ikorodu axis, a development which had prompted some suspected members of the group to be lynched through mob action.

The 100 suspects were arrested in a joint operation carried out by men of the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Odua People’s Congress (OPC), as well as local vigilantes including Onyabo in Ikorodu on Saturday.

The team, in the operation which started early in morning, moved around Ikorodu and combed the suspected hideouts of the members of the gang from streets to streets.

The combined security team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lagos Police Command, Mr. Imohimi Edgal and the RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu, specifically combed black spots and suspected areas like Ikorodu, Ibeshe, Ita Maja, Ijede, Ipakodo and other areas, arresting about 100 suspects for questioning.

The exercise was a follow up to a meeting which the National Coordinator of Odua Peoples’ Congress, Chief Gani Adams and Onyabo leaders held with security chiefs in the State last Friday.

Confirming the operation, Public Relation Officer of Lagos State Police Command, ASP Olarinde Famous–Cole said about 40 police and RRS vehicles were used for the operation, adding that the exercise was part of the ongoing efforts to rid the State of the activities of the dreaded cult group.

He said: “We can confirm the arrest of 100 suspected members of the dreaded cult group, Badoo and they are helping with ongoing investigation into the activities of the gang.

“Government is on top of the situation and we like to use this medium to caution the people to desist from jungle justice.

“We also like to assure residents that they are free to go about their normal activities without let or hindrance, as the police and other security agencies in the State are poised to make the State uncomfortable and hot for criminal elements to perpetrate their nefarious activities,” Famous–Cole said.

The Ikeja Bus Terminal is part of the numerous projects being implemented by the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to transform the transport sector.

The project, which is nearing completion, was conceived by the present administration to change the face of transportation system in Lagos State in line with the determination of Governor Ambode’s administration to turn the State into a Smart City, especially by transiting from garages to terminals.

It is said that about nine million people interact with garages in Lagos daily and the intention of government is to capitalize on such huge traffic by ensuring the Ikeja Bus Terminal and others are completed on time as part of the Bus Reform Initiative, which is billed to take off before the end of the year.

Unlike many celebrities who seem to have forgotten their background, Patoranking, in a new interview is claiming he can never forget.

The singer, in a new interview with Sunday Scoop, said he has dwelled in poverty and thus can not return, as when he remembers his past life, he hustles harder to ensure he never goes back to poverty.

In his words:


“Whenever I remember where I’m coming from, I am inspired to hustle harder. I grew up in poverty and I don’t ever want to go back to that again. If you listen to my songs, you would notice that I’m always trying to motivate people that there is no one that cannot be successful. Once you have something to offer and you work hard, the world is yours for the taking.”


On what he is doing to support other youngsters in the ghetto, he said,

“I don’t have to announce whatever help I render to people. As far as I’m concerned, it is between me and God. I help the people I can in my own little way because I believe I am blessed by God so as to be a blessing to others as well.”

Senator Rabiu Kwamkwaso has secured the release of 290 inmates, who were serving various jail terms in various prisons in the state.

Break down of the number: Goron Dutse prison 70, Gwarzo prison 47, Tudun Wada prison 110, central prison 38, Kiru prison 25.

13 of the beneficiaries were females while the remaining 277 were males who were arrested and prosecuted for committing various criminal offences.

The beneficiaries were given N3000 each to enable them transport themselves to their respective home towns and villages to participate in the Eid El-Fitr.
