3 decades ago and upwards, that’s in the 80s and 90s, people communicate with distant love ones using letters and dial telephones. In fact, it’s hard for you to start a relationship with someone in another state because you won’t be in any communication with such person except you’ve seen physical at some point.

There’s nothing like “You have to call me everyday”, “Always post my picture on your social media”, “Why didn’t you call me yesterday”

In fact, no one gets angry because their birthday wasn’t celebrated on social media.

The rate of understanding from each party is relatively high because they will probably channel their energy into something mind developing other than been on long unproductive calls.

But this decade, people of different tribe and nationality connect and find love within their space. A good example is a Boyfriend living in Lagos and his Girlfriend is living in Abuja. They have to call themselves everyday like a full-time job to reaffirm their togetherness. Distractions everywhere because the man sees better options more than often and the lady gets more compliments than necessary. It takes a reformed and focused mind to keep a relationship nowadays.

Good and healthy relationships have been broken and grinded into powder because of the existence of fast communication gadgets and transportation system

Issues like “He stopped calling me”, “He keeps liking another girl’s picture”, “He doesn’t want to see me”, “He doesn’t advertise me on his social media page” has brought relationship doubts in minds and relatively increasing the level of insecurities among lover-birds. These relationship breaker factors added themselves to the unresolved religious and tribal differences.



The standard of showing care and affection has been raised giving less room to human productivity because individuals will have to work and give more time to their relationships than their own life generally.

Lover-birds now spend more time on the phone than reading and making research. Some couple even live together but the only thing that tangles them both are sexual activities because they’ve failed to build their intellects and understand each other’s level of confidence, emotional stability, space, weaknesses during their dating and courting period.

To keep a smooth relationship in 2019, both party have to be intentional about it. Both party need to understand that the frequent use of the phone to communicate will not add any value or improve intimacy between them both. Frequent WhatsApp messages, Video Calls, Texting hasn’t shown any proof of complementing a healthy relationship.

Personally, I’m not a fan of distance relationships.

The old fashion way is still very romantic and appealing to the opposite gender. Random text messages, romantic letters, hangouts, surprise dates, hiking is valid to improve relationship bond and intimacy.

She's confused whether to go or not because she fit divorce today and tomorrow she go hear say the man don become millionaire through betting

There’ve been a lot of reasons for recent divorce in marriage, which ranges from Infidelity to Lack Of Communication, Lack of Intimacy and then to Abuse and Domestic Violence, e.t.c. But, none of the reasons aforementioned can be related to why a Kenyan woman who goes by the name Miriam Chebet wants to divorce her husband; Mr. Boniface Kosgei. Mrs. Miriam has threatened to divorce her husband for being addicted to betting and losing his mind to it.

Mrs. Miriam revealed that his betting habit has been draining the family income and even on the verge of leading them to bankruptcy, as her husband has been adamant to her pleas for him to quit betting.


She also revealed that her Husband, Mr. Boniface had been a successful farmer until his friends introduced him to betting and then his uncontrollable need to become an overnight millionaire through betting began and since then he has been losing a lot of money without winning even a single bet.

According to his wife, he began by betting less than Sh200 (#700 Naira) during the weekends, but now bets over Sh1000 (#3,500 Naira) daily.



With that not enough, Mr. Boniface invested Sh20, 000 (About #71,000 Naira) which was meant to procure farm inputs in a bet that was supposed to fetch him millions, but he eventually lost the bet and that made his family very low on cash.

Regardless of the fact that Mr. Boniface has been losing his bets, he scaled down his farming activities to focus more on betting so he could become an overnight millionaire. According to him ‘His time to win big is yet to come’.

It was revealed that some of the common excuses he gives for losing bets go as thus; “I almost hit the jackpot were it not these four matches... I just missed winning this multi-bet by one game,”


She also revealed that her husband has allocated a fat budget to betting and he’s less concerned about the state of their street Kiosk which is on the verge of collapsing for lack of commodities.

Aside from the financial aspect, Mrs. Miriam also complained about her husband denying her intimacy in the bedroom as he spends the night checking out games for the next day, checking how his current bets are faring and considering his next betting options. Mr. Boniface also informed her of his fantasy of the day she and their neighbours who had been laughing at him for betting excessively will see him on Live TV holding his Jackpot cheque and then their face will turn green with envy. He always tells her stories about people who won big in bets after several attempts and dared his wife to leave him now and never come back once he hits it big.


All attempts to make him stop betting proved futile as he revealed that he will only stop betting after winning big and recovering all his investments.
