Travel / These Are Some Helpful Safety Tips For The Festive Season by MGab25(m): 8:41pm On Dec 21, 2019
The festive and holiday season is here again and it comes with a lot of enjoyment and celebrations, nonetheless, it comes with a lot of dangers for road users too as a lot of people are in a hurry to round up their shopping for the festivity.

As you’re rushing out, your safety should be the top priority because if any tragedy befalls you on the road today, you won’t be able to celebrate the festivity in one piece.

Here are a few tips to help you stay safe on the road;

Pull Off The Road If You Feel Tired:

Have a good sleep before your departure whenever you’re scheduled to drive your car to a far distant place of choice to avoid falling asleep on the steering as you could put your life and other occupants at risk. Whenever you feel tired while driving, you can take turns and let another licensed person in the vehicle take over from you; while you rest (I’m not talking about commercial bus Drivers oo grin grin).

Always Wear Your Seat Belt:

Whenever you’re in a car that has a functioning seat belt, always remember to wear your seat belt as it helps reduce the risk of dying in an accident by half. Also, make sure your occupants are buckled into appropriate safety seats.

Slow Down:

While in a rush to get to the mall or stores before the closing time or rather in a rush to meet up at the party, endeavour to drive on a normal speed limit to avoid accidents or rather being flagged for traffic violation which might result to an arrest, paying a fine, or even being delayed by law enforcement agencies (Soldiers Sabi do this one diee grin grin grin).

Always Obey Traffic Rules

While you may have been going against traffic rules for a while and getting away with it, you might not get away with traffic violations now as a lot of traffic control agents and law enforcement personnel’s has been deployed on the road to control and make sure motorists obey the rules and reduce road-congestion.

Don’t Drink and Drive:

While you might be tempted to take lots of drinks in a Christmas party or gathering, remember not to drive when drunk or feeling tipsy as drunk-driving has been the major cause of road accidents in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. When you feel tipsy or drunk, you can either sleep-over or get a cab to take you home. Drunk Driving Kills!! How will you feel getting drunk the previous merry night and waking up in hell a few hours later? You’re sure not going to heaven. lol! wink grin grin grin

Watch Out For Emergency Vehicles:

One can never be fully safe on a Nigerian road so while you’re on your best behaviour following every traffic rules and driving on a normal speed limit, also endeavour to make way for any Emergency vehicle you sight as they might probably be on their way to save a life. E.g Ambulance and Fire Trucks.

Carry An Emergency Kit:

Always be prepared when embarking on a journey so you won’t be disappointed. Always remember to keep handy car-tools which can help you fix minor car faults/issues that can occur on the road. Also, remember to keep a First Aid Box.

Thank You for Reading. Please, share with your friends!

Nigeria is reportedly very hard now and everyone herein is having a share of the hardship as even the Generous Santa Clause isn't left out of it.

The Month of December comes with a lot of activities and Event, even schools do organize an End of The Year Party for their Students to mark the end of the Year.

A Santa clause whom could possibly be coming back from a School's end of the year party was recorded Hanging on a Moving Danfo in Lagos State and that could be because he's short on cash and couldn't afford a Transport Fare.

Lol! But how can a Santa who gives out presents not be able to pay for his transportation fare?

Religion / Bishop Oyedepo’s 9 ‘Bodyguards’ At Shiloh 2019 Spark Controversy Online by MGab25(m): 12:23pm On Dec 06, 2019
Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder and General Overseer of Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners’ Chapel who made headlines days ago after speaking out against the controversial hate speech bill, is on the news again after a photo of his alleged bodyguards went viral.

Oyedepo was spotted in the viral photo, surrounded by 9 men as he preached at his church’s annual programme ‘Shiloh’. The photo ignited mixed reactions as some social media user claimed the men are his bodyguards, while others defended the church leader; stating that the men are ushers stationed at the altar to control the crowd.

Twitter user @iam_Chisco1 who first shared his observation, tweeted “9 bodyguard protecting Bishop Oyedepo right in the alter of God…I wonder who he is actually afraid of when Jesus is by his side.”

Here are reactions to the tweet below;

@iam_selom tweeted: “More than 15 bodyguard protecting Bishop Oyedepo right in the alter of God…I wonder who he is actually afraid of when Jesus is by his side.”

@wainaina_john tweeted: “The social-religious facade messing Africa! Obviously, the 9 bodyguards are hired to keep all inane bigots surrounding him at bay. There’s no way success-hungry gullibles can mean well to a rich clergyman, moreso after offering hard-earned pennies to get hopefully instant miracles”

@ebube_iam tweeted: “They’re not bodyguards, they are called Protocols, they are from the Protocol department of the church. Even your political leaders have them. When last did you even go to church? Abi you just want to trend cos the stupid ones will join you in this thread”

@IGlare tweeted : “I see some fellows calling them ushers, try getting close to that ur bishop since he is ur pastor, and see the true meaning of Security guards. I have seen them manhandle worshippers when your Bishop is passing. Afterall he slapped a lady called her witch & you all hailed him.”

@tequaneV tweeted: “Those are crowd control unit members. I am one of them in my local assembly, it’s standard protocol in LFC worldwide to have CCU altar squad members standing when the Pastor in charge of the local assembly is preaching. don’t post trash dude”

@nonsookongwu tweeted: “Till tmr, my boss will always move with armed police people and crowd control team..after an experience he had preaching somewhere & he was almost suffocated by the crowd. In fact, those are his prime requirements if he must attend any programme. Call it what u want, baba is being safe”

@leyislee tweeted: “Nigeria has turned everyone to critics, we criticize everything even what we know nothing about or should care less about. Shiloh is going on and hundreds of thousands are there from so many countries. Order is needed. It’s not like that on Normal service days”

@enyola tweeted: “Protocol is English… if I approach that alter without invitation, will hey stop me from having access to him? If the answer is yes, they are part-time bodyguards and they are probably doing it for free so calling it ushers/protocol makes it sound like they are doing it for God.”

The man had earlier taken to the popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to ask for help. In his first tweet, the man had asked Nigerians to help him with his hospital bills, which was N170,000. He said his wife and newborn were held in the hospital after she gave birth through the caesarean section because they could not pay their bills.

Two brothers, Kingsley Nwegwu and Joakin Nwegwu both managing directors of ACJEC Global Services Ltd were on Monday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Enugu Zonal office.

The Nwegw brothers were convicted by Justice M.L. Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State before whom they were charged with 50 counts bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N98.7million.

EFCC kicked-off the investigation on the duo in 2011 when the EFCC received petitions against them, alleging that they were lured to invest the said money in ACJEC Global Services Ltd with the promise of mouth-watering 30-34 per cent interest annually on their investments to be paid to them.

The petitioners alleged that after investing the said money they never got the interest nor the capital invested in the company. Investigations carried out by the EFCC further revealed that more than N4 billion was paid into the accounts of the convicts by their victims, numbering over 200, in what turned out to be a Ponzi Scheme of sorts. One of the victims was said to have invested more than N50million.

Count 15 of the charges against them reads: “That you, Kingsley Chinedu Nwegwu, Chetachukwu Joakim Nwegwu and ACJEC Global Services Ltd, on or about the 23rd of March, 2011 at Awka, Anambra State within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, with intent to defraud, obtained by false pretense the sum of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen million naira) from Okeke Osita Samuel when you represented that the said amount of money was an investment in a business of partnership venture which would generate more financial income for the said Okeke Osita Samuel, a pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 1(1) b of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No.14 of 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”

After reviewing the pieces of evidence brought by the EFCC against them, Justice Abubakar held that the prosecution proved its case beyond every reasonable doubt, and so, convicted them accordingly. While sentencing them to one year in prison, the trial judge further ordered that all the properties traced to them in the course of investigations should be forfeited to the Federal Government. He also gave them an option of fine of N1million each. However, many of their victims, who had thronged the court premises, expressed dissatisfaction over the one-year imprisonment given them by the court, particularly the option of N1million.
