As much as I sympathize with the travails of the fmr DSP. Wrong is wrong regardless of the motive behind it. The intention was clear from the outset; use the guy and abandon him to whatever adverse effects from the procedure. Why is nobody reaching out to the guy or his family?

I would have loved to see the full statement from the school. Just saying ‘ working with security to prevent a reoccurrence in the school premises isn’t it.
The police statement is hasty. No arrests, no interrogation of anyone - at least not seen. This is like saying tit for tat. Let the perpetrators sing the song themselves while you focus on prosecution.

I would have welcomed this if this action was not predicated on APC’s letter. It means they did not observe anything real time.

BVAS accreditation clearly wasn't used

If these sheets are on the IRev, they will need to match it with the number of accredited voters on BVAS. On the surface, it looks doctored, only BVAS can authenticate.

Frankly speaking, election process is energy draining and places a lot of strain on both mental and physical health. It is therefore not unusual to take care of one’s health after a grueling process. For someone who many touted as unfit prior to the elections on account of his health, I think he did well in managing his many engagements considering that power of incumbency could have helped him.

The Elections have come and gone in Nigeria. For the most part, the winners are celebrating and the runner ups are still perusing the results. With a very short time frame available for runner ups to submit their misgivings to the tribunal, one would wonder if the BVAS technology is going to be an enabler of their filings or an obstruction. LP and PDP have complained about their inability to access the documents they need from the electoral body before the 21 days post result announcement.
I have looked at the major ask by LP and PDP in their petitions, and both looked alike.
Is there a reason why none of them is asking for a recount of the ballot papers since that is the primary data?

True to his words, Buhari allowed the agencies to carry out their functions. His party members may have a different opinion on his role in the elections.

One of the prayers is that Tinubu did win not the majority of the valid votes cast. The legal implication of this is that after the votes validly scored by Tinubu have allocated to him and votes illegally added to his votes have been deducted and added to those of Peter Obi the votes will be enough to make Obi the winner of the presidential election. For example, if Obi is able to prove by credible evidence that he polled 500000 votes, but that only 5000 votes were credited him and the rest illegally added to those scored by Tinubu. There are four or five grounds under the Electoral Act on the basis of which a petitioner can challenge an election in Nigeria. It's a technical issue.

You should know that Obi understands the implications of challenging the results on basis of its being rigged. If Obi had contended that the election was rigged, he couldn't have at the same time asked that he be declared a winner on the basis of an exercise that violated the due process as was held Onoh Vs Nwobodo.

However, Obi can do that in the alternative which he has done in this case. Therefore, the petition is in order.

Please indulge me, why is he asking for INEC to conduct another election?

No, it's tactical, it doesn't have to make sense. Judgement can be given on technicalities (we have seen this countless times). Since it has to get to the supreme court, have as many grounds as possible. This is Nigeria.

PS: The point about who came second is a nullity because LP is contesting the whole votes allocation called collation. I believe they have evidence to prove they scored higher lawful votes.

This petition should not have to rely on technicalities. That is too fragile to lay this on. Facts as clear as water only.

I don’t think it works that way. What they are cancelling is basically registered voters of those units not the votes cast per se.

The 2023 Nigeria elections are around the corner. The political parties primaries will begin in earnest. Are you concerned about the amount for nomination forms? 100million naira, 40nillion naira and so on. Any justification for this high amount.? Do you consider it as a way to bar individuals from seeking elections?
