Rach90: Hello everyone, I already dropped a comment on other thread and no one seems to answer me. I read the introductory part of the PR process but am getting more confused reading. My profile is Age: 27 (30 points) Education: Bsc(ed) Mathematics IELTS: registered, waiting to write exam Work Experience: 2yrs in Banking (marketing)
I don't know where to go from here, am confused of which subclass to go for considering my years on experience and my course being different from banking. Please I will appreciate a swift response so I can start the process. Thank you There is "Mathematician" on the occupational list and the assessing body is Vetasses. That should normally be your route, however, you need to have at least 12 months experience in that field to get a positive assessment from Vetasses. If using your banking experience, then you may want to nominate " customers service manager" and tailor your experience in that line. With this your degree would not matter much, but one thing I'm not yet sure of is if you needed 5 years work experience for that not to matter. You can do yourself a lot of good in searching Vetasses site for all the information you seek. |

JapD: Veterans in the house, I hail you all.
I am a Mechanical Engineer with 65 points (10 pts from English + age + work experience). I am considering 190 with NSW and Victoria (as I want to submit EOI before the new year) but the POF no be here o.
I need your guidance please.
1. What are my chances of 189 and 190? Although I plan to get max points from English.
2. Can I use Pension, sharrs and properties as POF? If yes, how?
3. How do I nominate a state without being visible to the states (I wish to select multiple states without being seen)
Thanks in advance. 1) with 65 points, your chances for 189 are very slim right now. 70 points are waiting for the past 4 months. With 70 for 190, it's still slimmer for NSW, go check and see that they have not nominated anybody in that occupation since February abi March last year. However, you can aim for 20 on English and breeze pass all these, with that 189 will come in a week. 2) If you are talking about NSW, there is nothing like proof of funds for their 190. I think Victoria has, but some said it's only a mention abi declaration. 3) Then create separate EOI, I'm nor sure if they will still see it or not. But the truth is, if your occupation is in demand in the state, they will nominate you irrespective of your interest in other states. |

ejimjesus: .......Please my assessment result is not out yet. Please when do I open immi account and expression of interest? Must I wait for the assessment to be out?
Secondly, when is my spouse English result as well as our marriage certificate needed? You can open immi account at any time. But no use for it till after ITA. Same goes for your EOI. You can open the account, but filling it would be difficult, because there are some inputs you need to make concerning skill assessment there. Your spouse English and your marriage certificate is needed when you want to lodge your visa after ITA. Azy123: In comparism, EA occupations , generally speaking, are less competitive.
IF you can get a positive assessment with computer science degree and experience from EA, it is actually a better and faster route to ITA. Otherwise get your 20 points in english first to give you a chance at getting ITA and assess with ACS. EA occupation are less competitive generally? Lolz. E dey red for everywhere now o. . However, I don't think there is an "If" on this case for EA. ACS is his best bet. No Engineering degree, hide your face for EA o. |

Azy123: As The alternative of going through EA need to be verified properly for someone who did not study engineering but with 5 years experience.

"Please note that when submitting your application to EA, you have to nominate an occupation that you will be assessed on since it is CDR. As long as you have a degree in Engineering, it usually does'nt matter what field of Engineering you nominated provided that you can prove to EA that you have relevant work experience in that field. In writing my CDR, I used my MSc thesis and the other two from the work I did in the profession I nominated. Use professional Engineer as @Bellong mentioned. "

In this case she studied computer science not engineering.
cc: michaelamo, jayoo etc Yes, if your work experience is relevant, you are likely to get a positive outcome. However, your degree should be in engineering. |

BADNEAT: very helpful thanks... I'm a bit confused...filling the skillselect form...EA assessed me without work experience..Now there's provision for work history on skillselect ,; should i leave it blank or fill in my internships and other unverifiable employments ...filling these will give me an extra points You can fill it all, however, you need to tick not claiming points for it. Or that it is not relevant to your nominated occupation. If you do that, it won't add any point to it. |
Travel › Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Michaelamo: 3:20pm On May 07, 2018 |
BADNEAT: 233211 Civil Engineer. my point stands at 55 today...hv booked for Pte to add another 10 to it .. hoping to get state nomination Aim for 20 in English, if you get that, then you can get ITA in a week. However, 65 is still very good for Civil engineers. You will most likely have state nomination from NSW on 190. |

Thanks Its ok to tick "I don't have any relevant work experience"... Afterall you are not assessing nor claiming point for it. Since all your CE is based on your school project only, you are good to go. |

bbtundey: Sir, from thorough study of occupation list and comparing my work experience as a field transmission engineer, the perfect occupation for my experience is Telcoms Field Engineer. And going through the assessment details, the job category is at skill level 2 compared to Telecom Network Engineer which is categorised as Skill level 1.
Now my concern is, will this lower my assessment point if i go for the Telecom Field Engineer which perfectly align with my work experience? and what difference is between associate degree & bachelor degree.
Really sorry to bother you with many questions, just want to get it right at first attempt.
Thanks in anticipation.
@bellong, plz your input will also be appreciated as well Assessing a skill level 1 or 2 occupation does not in any way add or remove points. All you need is a positive skill assessment. If you went to any of our federal or state university with a 5 years course then you don't have to bother about associate degree, it would be equivalent to AQF Bachelors. So the difference really in the two degree is basically the time taken to undergo it. Don't just bother about that. |

bbtundey: Thanks for the detailed response.
I think im ready to take the assessment shot. but another thing i need to be clear of. Experience assessment & qualification assessment, ate they done together or separately?
How can you help with the CDR? You can do it at once or separately. It does not really matter. You know already that your CE could be from school projects or work experience. So you can decide what to do. When you begin, any question you have, ask here and tag me, I can be of help. |

Also, since my education/experience align more with Telecommunications Network Engineer, pls kindly advice if i stand a better chance of getting a positive results, or with Computer Network and System Engineer.
Can i apply for both 189 & 190 concurrently? Competency Demonstration Report. You stand a good chance to get a positive assessment with EA if your CDR is good. The CDR comprises of Career episode(CE) , Summary statement(SS) and Continuing professional development (CPD). You can check EA site for more www.engineersaustralia.org.au |

nogara: House, please render your friendly, brotherly, candid and realistic advice to me. I have two previous visa refusals from UK and US. They are both visiting visa issue. The UK was based on finance while the US was the general blue paper they give. The question now is, How do I address these issues so as to clear the doubts of the VO. Note : I have travelled to one of the South African countries last year. Most times we know the answers ourselves, we just need reinforcement. If you have had any visa refusal before, you should say it as it was. The reason you were refused. Please don't even lie about it, because when e burst nobody here go even answer you as to how you will go about. Just say the truth and leave the rest to God. Provided the reasons are not for crime or any serious offense. The one on finance is not an issue, that blue paper stuff, I don't know what it is. But which ever way, don't even think about lying, they always run their checks. |

DoDirtsLikeWorm: Thought after 2years in 489 & working for 1yr, one can apply for PR straight away? What is the benefits of 190 over 489? I. Am not suppose to ask about it here; but it's just a quick one 489 supposedly is restricted to region, then there is a work for 1 year and stay for 2 years in regions like you rightly said. Here comes the benefit, with 190 you gat everything a 189 would get except that you need to stay in one state for two years. So maybe he does not want to wait that long in a region before he gets his PR. Hope you understand? It's purely choice and circumstances. |

I studied Mechanical engineering in Nigeria and couldn't even get a look in in Nigeria because i got a 2.2 but i was treated differently here and accepted, i will always say Australians aren't racist. Funny enough if anyone as ever treated me differently, it was in Nigeria
Anyways, you can't save everyone. All we can do is drop good advise, and those who will listen will, those who won't just won't. You have said it all jor, the tribalism and nepotism we face here is it not worst than racism? Abeg make we leave this topic, who get belief say Australians are racist make he/she just stay for naija. If the person don mistake go before, make he or she come back. Nor be racism carry us come this thread, anybody that's interested in a racism topic should look it up on Google. |

I think you should heed to what @gunpoint told you. If your aim is PR, abeg use your Mech from here run am. If at all you have at least 2 years experience, you can make it through the PR process, maybe using 489. much better and cheaper than using school.
