Three lawyers who claimed to have witnessed EFCC’s raid on the Epe residence of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday, alleged that they stopped the anti-graft officials from “planting foreign currency” in the house.

The lawyers — Fatai Adebanjo, Busari Olanrewaju and Samson Okuneye — in a joint statement on Tuesday, said operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission wanted to stop them (lawyers) from being a part of the search.

They said the operatives allowed them into the house after they had engaged them in arguments.

The counsels added that the EFCC officers seized their phones before the tour of the house began.

In the statement, the lawyers said, “Before they entered, we searched all the officials of the EFCC who intended to go in for the search.

“There was a blue bag which they were holding with them.

“We requested to see the content of the bag before they could take it in.

“They got angry and said we could not see the content.

“Having said that, we strongly resisted them from taking it in since they would not allow us to see it; they later agreed.

“We later got to know that the bag contained foreign currency which they brought to plant in the house of the ex-governor to incriminate him.”

The lawyers noted that the operatives, while collecting their phones, had insisted that only one of their (EFCC) men would record the process with a phone.They claimed that in the end, nothing incriminating was found in Ambode’s house except some documents, including the State Executive Exco Meetings Volumes 1-16.

The counsel explained that the anti-graft officers were stopped from taking the documents away because they refused to take records of the items.

“We followed them as they entered from one place to the other.

“When our presence was intimidating them, they said we should sit down while they do the search.

“We insisted that we must follow them to observe every of their activities on the premises.

“To our greatest consternation, the officials of the EFCC, led by Rotimi Oyedepo, Esq, held on to our phones and told us to follow them to their office in Ikoyi to get our phones.

“All efforts to get back our phones were abortive, as the officials rushed into their white Hiace bus with our phones and instructed that since we had resisted their efforts to take the said blue bag into the main premises of the ex-governor, they would hold on to the phones.

“Thus, almost six phones were forcefully taken away, iPhones inclusive,” the statement added.

The lawyers claimed that their presence throughout the search stopped the EFCC from incriminating Ambode “with the blue bag they brought with them from an unknown destination.”

They said they were ready to challenge the legality of the search on the residence.

Leader of the EFCC operatives, Oyedepo, when contacted by our Correspondent, said the Commission would “resolve the matter” and issue a formal statement on the allegation.

“But I want to assure you that nothing like that happened,” Rotimi Oyedepo said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved replacements for heads of federal government agencies that were recently appointed as ministers.

A statement by the president’s spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Tuesday, August 20, said Senator Basheer Garba Mohammed was appointed federal commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mohammed replaces Sadiya Umar Farouk, a minister-designate from Zamfara state.

According to the statement, Dr Chioma Ejikeme has been appointed Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, replacing Sharon O. Ikeazor, while Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi is now Director General/CEO, National Information Technology Development Agency.

“For Executive Commissioner (Stakeholder Management), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), President Buhari has forwarded Adeleke Moronfolu Adewolu’s name to the Senate for confirmation as replacement for Sunday Akin Dare.

“The appointments take immediate effect,’’ the statement added.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today August 19th, arraigned Mrs. Isabella Oshodin and Bob Oshodin Organisation Ltd before Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja on a 25-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N22,964,228,414 (Twenty-two Billion, Nine Hundred and Sixty-four Million, Two Hundred and Twenty-eight Thousand Four Hundred and Fourteen Naira).



According to a press statement from the antigraft agency, Oshodin is alleged to have on 16 occasions, received the sums of N500,000,000; N750,000,000; N125,000,000; N350,000,000; N170,000,000; N85,000,000; N60,000,000; N50,000,000 and others which totalled N2,366,000,000 (Two Billion, Three Hundred and Sixty Six Million Naira) from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA under then NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd).



EFCC in its statemet, said investigations further revealed that Oshodin on eight occasions received from Dasuki’s ONSA sums totalling $57,217,301.15 (Fifty-seven Million, Two Hundred and Seventeen Thousand, Three Hundred and One US Dollars, Fifteen Cents) into the Escrow accounts of Bob Oshodin Organisation Ltd.

That you, Mrs. Isabela Mimie Oshodin, Bob Oshodin Organisation Ltd and Mr. Robert (Bob) Oshodin (still at large) on or about 22nd June, 2014 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this honourable Court directly transferred the sum of $7,712,598 (Seven Million, Seven Hundred and Twelve Thousand, Five Hundred and Ninety-eight Dollars) to one Portfolio Escrow Company with account number 3102004330 domiciled in California Republic Bank, United States of America which sum you reasonably ought to have known to be proceed of an unlawful act of Sambo Dasuki (rtd), the then National Security Adviser to wit: criminal breach of trust and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15 (2) (b) of the Money Laundering (Provision) Act, 2011as amended in 2012 and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act.”

He pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when read to her.



In view of her plea, prosecuting counsel, Aisha Tahar Habib prayed the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial.

I have noticed my lord the second defendant is not represented, notwithstanding, in view of the first defendant’s plea of not guilty, I will like to ask for a date for trial,” she said.

However, counsel for the defendant, Osahor Odemodia, informed the court of the bail application for his client, and urged the court to grant her bail on liberal terms, pending the commencement of trial.



But Habib opposed the application for bail, informing the court of a counter-affidavit filed on July 10, 2019, and so urged the court to refuse her bail, and instead, give the case accelerated hearing.



The trial judge, thereafter, adjourned to August 21, 2019 and ordered the defendant to be remanded in EFCC custody pending the ruling on the bail application.

The programme organised by Coalition for Revolution (CORE) – same group behind sowore’s revoluytion now -was billed to hold at 46, Ibijoke street, Oluyole bus-stop, Oregun, Lagos.

According TheCable, when the venue was visited on Monday, there was heavy presence of police personnel and vans.


A police officer reportedly told people to leave the venue immediately.

The Ogun state Police Command, on Monday, arraigned three men in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly being in possession of a human skull.

The suspects identified as: Sunday Mathew, 52; Olaniyi Samuel, 62; and Uchenna Olewunne, 48, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with two counts of conspiracy and unlawful possession of human skull.

The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that the defendants and others at large, committed the offence on May 27 at about 11.30 p.m. at Oke-Ola Arayomi Area, Iju, Ota, Ogun.

He said that the defendants were unable to explained how they got the human skull when they were caught.

The offence, he said, contravened provisions of sections 329(1)(2) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Federation, 2004.

After the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Mathew Akinyemi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N400,00 each with two sureties in like sum each.

Akinyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed.

He adjourned the case until Nov. 13 for further hearing, NAN reports.

LAGOS – Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has urged federal, state and local governments to fashion out ways of transforming the Nigerian educational system to strengthen the capacity of the Nigerian youth.

The Speaker, in a message commemorating the International Youth Day with the theme ‘Transforming Education,’ said the essence of education is to proffer solutions to challenges confronting humanity.

Gbajabiamila, in a statement issued by Lanre Lasisi, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, noted that governments at all levels have the primary responsibility of ensuring that every Nigerian is given access to basic and qualitative education.

The Speaker added that democracy and good governance would thrive in an atmosphere where a sizeable proportion of the populace is educated and well enlightened about their civic responsibilities.

While assuring that the 9th House of Representatives under his leadership would prioritise issues concerning the education sector, Gbajabiamila emphasised that revamping the sector had become imperative.

The Speaker had in 2016, during his tenure as the House Majority Leader. sponsored a Bill to provide access to higher education for Nigerians through interest-free loans.

The Bill, which had been reintroduced in the current Assembly and had gone through first reading, proposes a Nigeria Education Bank, which would be established by law to provide education for all Nigerians without any discrimination.

Gbajabiamila said: “As we celebrate the International Youth Day, I intend to use the office of the Speaker and the instrumentality of the law to fast-track the passage of this and others Bills that are capable of restoring hope to our youth to reposition them for the tasks of nation-building and global competitiveness.


“It is indisputable that the global economy is knowledge-driven, while the private sector has continued to play a leading and pivotal role in the economic development of states and nations.

Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi says the RUGA settlement programme remains the best option for settling nomads in a permanent abode and enhance livestock production in the country.

Bagudu made the statement while conducting journalists round some Fulani settlements in Jega Local Government Area on Tuesday.

‘’RUGA is just a Rural Grazing Area.

“It has been conceived a long time ago to bring into one place nomads and their animals for permanent settlement with all the necessary provision of pasture and grazing to improve animal husbandry.

‘’It still remains the best option for settling nomads in a permanent abode and enhance livestock production in the country,’’ the governor said.

He gave an assurance that his administration would continue to provide basic amenities to all Fulani settlements in the state.

‘’The amenities will include water, schools and health facilities in furtherance of our effort to meeting the objectives of the RUGA Programme, ‘’ Bagudu said.

The governor urged the journalists to intensify public enlightenment on the idea of the RUGA programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the settlements visited were Runtu Birni Malam and Ingarje Jandutsi in Jega Local Government.

Others were Kirya and Banbala in Suru Local Government Area.

A cross-section of Fulani leaders expressed appreciation to the governor for his fraternal visit and urged the state government to rehabilitate water facilities in their settlements.

A lone driver was lucky to escape death in an auto accident this afternoon on third mainland bridge in Lagos..



According to the Rapid Response Squad, the driver of the car lost control and was fortunate to have his car stopped by the kerb of the bridge.

The Police in Lagos state have begun investigation into the death of a yet-to-be-identified lady inside the Southboung hotel, Morogbo, Lagos state on August 9th.



A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, Bala Elkana, says the corpse of the deceased lady was found on the bed facing up, with swollen face and foam- like fluid out of her mouth. Her throat was knotted with clothes suggesting that she might have been strangulated.



Bala says there were blood stains all over the place. He added that the corpse of the deceased was evacuated to mortuary for autopsy while the scene was preserved for forensic analysis.



The statement added that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba to take over the investigation.

The man who was clad in African attire with his well-fitted cap, ignored the presence of all in the train as he was busy enjoying his meal with soo much enjoyment.

His country of origin is unknown but his profound enjoyment of his Eba with a bowl of draw soup is thrilling and could only be an African man.

Africans once were afraid of letting out their uniqueness and individuality to the world as they were made to believe that they are not as good, brilliant or talented as the other skinned colour men of the universe.

But the narrative is beginning to take a new shape as black men and women are beginning to challenge the status quo, break records and stand square shoulder with other men and women of the world to not just air their voice but to also flaunt the beauty of black.

Not ashamed of where he origin and his food, the man in the video makes other strides to expose to the world, the originality of being black.

While some might criticize the acts as not dignifying, it must be observed with a much-unbiased lens, if eating ice cream, hamburger and some times, rice on transit, nothing should stop you from enjoying your bowl of Eba and soup in a moving train in as you are disturbing the peace of anyone, and as it shows in the video, no one is showing any sign of been disturbed.

Shoprite mall in Ota, Ogun State, was shut down by protesting members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) today Saturday, August 10th over the rampant cases of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.



The protesting students stormed the South African-owned mall at about 11am with placards carrying inscriptions such as: “South Africans must go”, ”Enough of the killing of our brothers, sisters, and relatives in South Africa”, ”You can’t continue to kill our people and still feed fat on us” and many others.’’



The National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Azeez Adeyemi, who spoke on behalf of the protesting students, said

“NANS’ leadership under its President, Mr Danielson Bamidele, have resolved to champion the struggle of putting sense back into lawless South Africans. It seems the government of South Africa derives pleasure from the senseless killings and sees the continuous xenophobic attacks on Nigerians residents in South Africa as a norm.

NANS’ struggle against xenophobia has moved beyond ordinary street protests. Our target now is to mobilise Nigerian students and Nigerians towards truncating the smooth running of South African businesses in Nigeria. We shall resume here at Shoprite, Stanbic IBTC, MTN and Multichoice on Aug. 14 for a total shut down. This is a struggle that will continue until the victory of purpose is achieved,” Adeyemi said.

Recall that on Thursday August 8th, protesting students picketed MTN, DSTV and Stanbic IBTC Bank offices in Abeokuta and Adamawa state to express their displeasure at the relentless killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage has shown disappointment in Nigerian men and how they treat women in spite of what they go though in life, from motherhood, to childbirth. She also expressed her disappointment in the country and how matters of that sort were handled and expressed her disappointment to have come from such a country that showed no concern towards what women go through.



The singer who has kept mute for a while ranted about all the issues women were facing in the country, stating that she is embarrassed to be a Nigerian. She posted a series of on her Instagram story, amidst the rumor of one Pastor Biodun of COZA church who was revealed to have r@p*d a popular figure in the industry in Nigeria known as Busola Dakolo, the wife of popular singer Timi Dakolo. She went on to add that she personally can’t stand the situation and has to do more than just a post.

Twin brothers buried after dying from same ailment
Twins brothers, Uchenna James Ebubeogu and Chinaza John Ebubeogu, have been laid to rest after dying from same strange ailment.



The twins brothers died 7 months apart. A friend of the twins who confirmed the unfortunate incident, revealed that Uchenna died in November, 2018, while Chinaza died in June, 2019.

They were 33-years-old as at the time of their demise.

? Six Madonna university students, lecturer regain freedom?

The six Madonna University students and lecturer held in prison custody since February over comments the management of the institution claimed was injurious to them, have been released.


The students and lecturer were granted bail on Wednesday by the Federal High Court 2 sitting in Awka and presided over by Justice Babatunde Quadri, months after they were picked by security operatives who first took them to the Okija campus of the university where they were detained in a police cell before being sent to Awka Prison.



The prosecution counsel, Mr. J. N. Oboh who did not object the bail granted to the defendants during the proceedings, however insisted that they should sign an undertaking to be of good behaviour. The defendants were given two months from Wednesday, to perfect their bail conditions as it was gathered that the courts would be on vacation from next week.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, has just issued a denial of news which had made media rounds earlier in the day as regards the much-anticipated ministerial list.

Nigerians have been expectant about the ministerial list after the President had earlier announced that his decision on the members of his cabinet would be made public this July.

On Tuesday, Mr Shehu via his verified Twitter page revealed that he had not been briefed on any list which was purportedly said to have come from him, and as such, said any such list should be ignored.

“My Twitter account is a verified one. Whoever wants to know what I have said should go to it, not to a fake one. I have no breaking news on the appointment of ministers because I have not been briefed about it.

“Ignore the report they are attributing to me, please,” Shehu tweeted.
