Good day NL fam.
I want to ask for opinions of everyone here. Many of our ogas and beloved clients are here. We also have here is fellow artisans who may likely have experienced this thing. I have talked about this here some time ago.

To the glory of God, I've worked with several nairalanders and I've had 90% positive experience from both home-based and abroad-based clients. However, there are few not-so-great clients which is expected as people differ. The grouse here is about some potential clients who would ask you to come to their site (especially in another town/state) to take measurements or even start immediately, only for them to leave you stranded without any tangible reason than saying "You're a scam". I recently had this bitter experience from someone who contacted me from here. We've discussed and she was well aware of my location and that I had to travel to where her site is located. I left home as early as 6am and got there around 9a.m. we were supposed to get the materials on that day. I met with the site engineer who said he had no knowledge of what I'm talking about even though she said otherwise. I called her and she said she's busy and I have to wait till 1pm before she send money. I waited. And by that time she changed tone, telling me she cant trust me, someone from a different city, with her job. I was very surprised. I tried explaining things to her and she just went off and called me all sorts. I was so stunned I didn't even know what to do. The day was wasted. Time, money and resources all wasted. I had rejected a job slotted for that day because I was so sure I was going to get materials for her site as we discussed. I was given #5k for tfare even though I spent double of that. I didn't want any wahala, na so I traveled back. It felt surreal but it is what it is.

Now, this is the second time I'm experiencing this. The first time was when I went to Benin and I was communicating with the woman till I get to Benin after a whole day journey only for her to do a turnaround. Since then, I do ask for tfare at least from prospective clients. Especially if I have to travel to your site. You can deduct it from my payments if I eventually start the job, if not, I lose nothing. That worked but not all clients agree to it.
Sometimes even, when some refuse mobilization fee, I tell them at least pay for the materials directly to the outlet I'm buying. That way, even if na scam, they get the materials and I get nothing. We all know as Nigeria be so I'm not offended that some clients want to be 100% sure. But as you as a client is trying to be safe, please also consider the artisans.
We also take risks to go to people and sites that we don't know. We've seen cases of people who were kidnapped or robbed just because they went to check a site. And there's also this particular matter I just raised. We should be able to meet each other halfway because life itself is a risk.
things dey happen for this work sha

Was not aware she said the Tomato paste can kill. I have alway believed the version below where she said the paste was very sugary and nothing was added about her stating the tomato paste of Erisco can kill. Apologies if she she truly went that far.

well that's the reason for the case. Let her prove or provide whom the product has killed. You can check it out on Facebook. Although she has deleted the statement but the screenshot abound the internet. It was when she made the statement that the sister to the CEO of the company reached out to her and told her she's trying to kill her brother's business and reputation, she challenged her to meet her in court

Na court Dem dey so. Unfortunately people are all being emotional about the case instead of factual

You make me laugh and are an example of the unexposed and backward folks, especially when in leadership positions, responsible for why Nigeria is where she is today.

As an example, do you know how many ,to include professional furniture reviewers, that savage Ikea furntiure as "crap" and "nasty rubbish" daily yet the company keeps forging ahead to make furniture that has established it as the King of flatpack furniture on Earth?

Yet you are supporting the draconian idiocy of a lady losing her liberty for publicly badmouthing a food product she does not like. This is nothing other than gross abuse of power abetted by a very flawed system that allows the rich and well-connectwd to do as they please.

it's ok to say a product is "nasty crap" but the moment you allege that the product kills and when you were asked to retract your statement, you said they should meet you in court.

Your wishes have been granted. You're in court, provide whom the said product has killed and you're alleging victimization. It doesn't work like that boss

The oxford English dictionary defines hostage as a person seized or held as security for
the fulfilment of a condition.
So, what are you saying?
so after helping the woman deliver, they should let her go without paying?

The hospital isn't holding your wife hostage. Your inability to settle the bills is why they're holding your wife. You're lucky they didn't ask for payment before services.

If you can twist your heading like this, I don't know how to help you. But like the first person said, bring the contact and let your story be verified first and we can see how to help you.

Congratulations to your family

Politics / Re: Protest In Imo Community As Government Closes Gas Plant Construction Site by michlins(m): 6:36am On May 31
FreeStuffsNG:
The owner of the land Reverend Ekema Njoku, revealed that the Umuriem community unanimously agreed and approved the construction of the gas plant “Umuriem welfare association granted the consent to build the gas plant,” he said.

Among the 3; the Reverend Father who owns the land and claimed that he got the approval of the community , members of the community writing petition upandan to claim that they didn’t approve the gas project because it will lead to loss of lives and the Imo State Government that shut down the gas plant project, it looks like none of the 3 is telling us the whole truth.

You can't build gas project in secret. The story is not adding up.

Seems everyone's eyes in Imo state is now opened to the money in gas and they want to be selling land with the gas under the ground with the land then use guise to collect the gas to the gas plants built on the land.

The community will lure them in then raise complaints while the government will now move in. EFCC should look into this emerging trend to save lives and stop clandestine gas plant project construction.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

If this is what you made out of the whole thing then you need to study English more.

The gas plant in question is a dispensing plant or what you call filling station. It's sited very close to living areas and that's what the issue is

Did you factor in that this house go quick look bad due to too many occupants.

Mehn personally, I can't live in this kind of house, wey ur neighbours for the same compound plenty
this type of house is better maintained because the occupants are usually single people or young couples. They are more likely to be neat and classy. You don't have kids running around and everyone leaves in the morning and comes back late with their takeaway.

Throw in a good caretaker who will organize compound cleaning (most likely paid service as the occupants will refuse to participate in such exercise) and you're good to go.

Just target a certain age and work demographic(19-32)and your house will stay well maintained.

Compared to hostels, which one do you think will be more profitable?

I have seen houses that are smaller than this but accommodate more rooms. In the case of hostels, you just need a room, toilet and bathroom in adjacent corner plus a little space for kitchen.

Although cost of building a hostel is likely going to be higher (acquisition of land near a school and lots of household items like toilet and sink plus plumbing and the rest). Hostels, students are more likely to move out quickly and you increase your rent as time goes by. ASUU strike doesn't concern you a bit(added advantage)

What do you think?

Abro, no rich and sane man will leave his daily engagement in chase of 20k. Getting a lawyer, swearing an affidatvit and others, before u know 200k gone Worst if the recipient too has money and he'll also want to escalates the matter. Later on you'll regret even chasing the money.
a rich man wouldn't need to leave his daily engagement for it. He will just put a call across to his lawyer who is on retainer and readily available 247 to him.

About the expenses,he just wants to teach you a lesson. That way, his name will cast fear to anyone having business dealings with him to be careful. If you hear that he spent 500k to pursue 20k, you will never dare touch his millions.

Think about the guy spending millions against a Facebook comment. He could have just ignored that girl and it will blow over by now. But he swore on his own life to defend his brand

this company is actually having issues with production due to same economic stagnation.

I know this because I live in Nnewi and was the diaper I was buying until months ago it went out of the market.

This economic issue cuts across tribe and class. Our best hope is for Tinubu to actually start working on the economy cause if not, there's a looming disaster

It seems this is the only person that has sense on this whole thread.

For avoidance of doubt, if you eat somebody's money that you cannot prove there was some sort of contractual relationship with, you have "stolen" and can be prosecuted by any law enforcement agency. Some of us who have lived life have seen this happen various times.

The cheapest way to sort this out is to do what the person I quoted said....also if you have friends that work in a bank, get the account holders number and warn him about what you are about to do...if he likes let him be having sleepless nights because of 20k, person no even fit thief better money

Rich people don't lose money. OP is all hung up on emotions. What lesson, Is OP a lesson teacher?

There is no evidence of the commission of a crime, the recipient may simply claim they did not receive anything, and no law will compel them to disclose their account detail to verify receipt, Op is totally at the mercy of the recipients in situations like this.

N20k + N100K+ His time + emotions = He gets nothing.

Now tell me which lessons we are talking about again.
you're arguing ignorantly please. Nigeria has one of the best banking laws in Nigeria. All the op needs is to collect proof of payment from his bank,go to the court and swear an affidavit and submit it to the creditor's bank and a lieu will be placed on the account.

He either refunds the money or he can no longer withdraw money from the account. If the op goes further to escalate it as a criminal act, his BVN gets flagged and all his accounts goes on NO DEBIT. He will be arrested whenever he steps into any bank in Nigeria.

How do I know all these,I have made such mistake as the OP and I had the account restricted. I didn't go further to get an affidavit and stuff. Also I have paid someone for a job and he defaulted. I reported the account to my bank and it was frozen. The guy started calling and begging me to help him fix the problem

A rich man with access to a lawyer will do the above and even more to get his 10k

Now listen to yourself? Do you sound rational at all? no

No rich person will waste their time, spend 100k to chase 20k. Remember, the recipient never committed a crime, you willingly transferred the money to them.
actually it's a rich person who will do this. He doesn't necessarily need the 20k but wants the recipient to learn a thing or two especially when the recipient feels too funky

having watched lots of Hollywood movies, this is not safe. Having the whole line of succession in one place is a high risk venture. An attack can throw this country into a huge mess.

Then the issue of separation of powers, the three thiers of government celebrating the federal government makes it look like they just one and powers not truly separated
