It ws a butiful thursday mrning,I had woken up late.
I took my papers wit d wizard guarntor's letter.
I scrutinisd my papers ova n ova again so dat wat hapnd ystday wnt repeat itself.
I got 2 skul by 8.pm.Obviously,I ws late.It ws lik getin 2 Church wen dey wer givin announcement.
I kinda came late knwingly,cuz d officer had tld me 2 cum d followin day wit my complete papers.
So I wsnt scared.I jst tut I'l meet her n get it done.Boy! I ws wrong.
I cam 2 her n tld her I ws here wit d papers,bt she dint even act lik she had seen me b4.All dey sed ws "go n wait behind".
I came 2 d realisatn dat 2day wud be anoda long day.
Ofcourse der ws nowher 2 sit.I waited standing.Den later,I noticed dey wer callin pple wit numbers n nt in their names.
I tried 2 find out y n realised dat d previous day,d clearin officers gav numbers 2 d students b4 dey left,sayin dey wil attend to those wit numbers first b4 anyone else.
Dang! I had left earlier dan d officers d previous day cuz of d guarantor ish.
Now i did nt hv a number,d persons numbered wer ova 100 n it tuk ova 5 mins 2 attend 2 a person.
Wen I ws askd several times,"wat's ur number?" i'l say i dnt hv any n wen i ask dem dey'l proudly tell me deirs.
I,who ws once close,ws standin,havin no numba,n hence,no hope of getin cleard 2day.
I nw knew it ws my duggedness,ingenuity n sagacity dat wil determine today's outcome.
Dos who hv jst been cleared wer lurking around.They wer raising deir shoulders n draggin deir feet as though dey wer graduates.
Dey wer forming,n of a truth,it ws worth forming for.
Nw I had seen ova 30 nairaland fwndz one way or d oda.
It's nw past 1pm & numba 15 ws yet 2 be called.Tempers wer flarin n it tuk security 2 bring dem down.
I was furious dat I hadnt done anytin,I tried all ways 2 jst get attention from d officers,bt all ended in a roadblock.
D tin is...evry1 wnted 2 get cleard as muc as I did.
It ws lik a thousand pple tryin 2 run out of a tiny door,no one letin d oda go 1st.
1pm turned to 2pm n 2pm turned to 3pm. I ws der,stil waitin 4 smtin 2 happen.Bt now,at least I had a sit.
I waited again til abt 4.30 wen dey wer abt to close.
I knew 2day's clearin hope ws ova,bt I wasnt leavin witout getin a numba.
Wow! Dey cudn't finish d previous numba dey gav n decided nt 2 giv any 2day so dey'l finish up d one dey had b4.(note dat som of dese pple wit numbas wer in d teller stage,som bursary,som file n few wer in d clearin stage wic I ws)
Nw dey hv decided 2 giv no numba,nw wat wil i do i tut.Dis clearance z nt goin 2 next week,i assured myself boldly.
Wen dey wer abt leaving,i went 2 d front n tried 2 beg wit an innocent face n den she searched out my papers n sed i sud com d followin day,dat she'l call me b4 callin dos wit numbas.De ja vu.
Dat ws wat she sed d day b4,n she left me hanging.
D day ws already gone,I had no choice bt 2 hang on 2 wat she sed,at least to keep hope alive.
Home I went 2 prepare 4 d followin day.cuz 2day,ntin was achieved.
