Politics / Re: APC Expresses Concerns Over Delays In Releasing Results In SE, SS by Mickop(m): 6:14pm On Mar 30, 2015
The party changed its earlier
alarm that no one should avoid
the will of the people for
whatever reason and that only
the authentic results of the
elections will be acceptable to Nigerians.
The APC appealed to its
concerned members and
supporters to be calm and to
continue to shun violence,
promising that in the end, the
will of the good people of Nigeria – which they have freely
expressed by turning out in
large numbers to exercise their
franchise – will prevail. However, it has already been
obtained that APC also won
in Kano, Jigawa and Ondo states, and Jonathan – in Ekiti and
Enugu state. The electoral commission took
a break in announcing results
up to 8pm.

It is common knowledge that
manual accreditation makes
the voting process more
susceptible to rigging and manipulation,” the party said. The APC clarified as very
curious the fact that the card
readers mostly worked well in
other parts of the country,
except in the South-East and
the South-South, wondering whether this was a mere
accident. ”Also, credible reports
emanating from most of the
South-East and the South-
South indicate that APC
agents have either been
harassed, intimidated or chased away from results
collation centres, the same
treatment they (APC
agents) have been
subjected to in Adamawa
and Taraba States. ”Against this background,
we are demanding that our
agents in all the affected
states be given unfettered
access to the result
collation centres, and that they must also be allowed to
scrutinize any result
emanating from there for it
to be credible,” it said.
Politics / APC Expresses Concerns Over Delays In Releasing Results In SE, SS by Mickop(m): 6:02pm On Mar 30, 2015
The main opposition party
the All Progressives
Congress (APC) has said
the postponement in
announcing the results of
last weekend’s elections in the South-East and the
South-South gives room for
concern, against the
background of the results
that are streaming in from
other parts of Nigeria. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, party’s
national publicity secretary, in a
comment issued in Lagos said
apart from Rivers and Akwa
Ibom, where everyone knows
what the situation is, there has been nothing but silence from
the others states as far as the
results are troubled. It said many concerned
Nigerians have asked the party
to show their concern over the
shift, and to share their fears on
whether something menacing is
behind the palpable silence.
”The fact that most of the
South-East and the South-
South resorted to manual
accreditation instead of
being patient for the card
readers has raised real fears on the possible
manipulation of the results.

5. Jonah Jang: From appointing his son as a
commissioner, to being used to
destabilise the Nigerian
Governors Forum and his in-
ability to restore law and order
in his home state, Plateau state governor is one politician who
has seen it all , but yet, has no
positive political achievements.
Jang is at best known for his
biased and often times careless
statements especially as regards the constant insecurity
in his home-state which he has
failed to curb.
In a related development, the
governor of Niger state, Aliyu Babangida has lost his bid to be
elected as a senator as he lost by a wide margin to the APC
candidate.

Politics / Re: 5 Controversial Politicians Heading To The Senate by Mickop(m): 2:13pm On Mar 30, 2015
3. Theodore Orji: The governor of Abia state is a
case-study in incompetency.
Widely regarded as the worst
governor in Nigeria, many are
baffled how the governor
defeated the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
Candidate, Barrister Ahamdi
Nweke who came second. The
governor who gets booed each
time he steps out in public
gatherings will no doubt get a reality check when he vacates
the Abia state government
house on the 29th of May 2015.
4. Godswill Akpabio: Unlike Orji, Akpabio is a proven
performer in governance. But
his greatest undoing is his
extreme uncouth political
statements, coupled with his
obvious disdain for the opposition which has made him
commit so many political
blunders. Very unpopular
outside his state, his role in the
Nigeria Governors Forum crisis
is well documented. Akpabio is one man that get carried away
easily and literally talks without
thinking.

1. Stella Oduah: The former minister of Aviation has won the
Anambra North Senatorial
district elections in her home
state. Oduah had been dropped
from President Jonathan’s
cabinet last year after she allegedly approve without
following due process, the
purchase of two BMW
armoured cars for N255 million
by the National Civil Aviation
Authority (NCAA). Political analysts will keep an eye on the
beautiful PDP chieftain as she
makes her way to the upper
chamber.
2. Buruji Kashamu: The bulky Ogun state PDP chieftain has
won majority votes in the Ogun
east senatorial district,
comprising nine local councils,
Kashamu is allegedly wanted in
the United States in connection with drug offences. He has also
been having a running political
battle with former president
Olusegun Obasanjo for
sometime now. He was also
accused by the All Progressives Congress for
participating in the alleged
rigging of the Ekiti state
gubernatorial elections last
year.

In a reaction to the alleged
delay in the announcement
of Saturday’s, March 28,
Presidential and House of
Assembly elections across
the country, an Islamic group has issued an urgent
warning to the Independent
National Electoral
Commission (INEC). INEC-Chairman-Professor-

(MURIC) spokesman, Prof.
Ishaq Akintola, who spoke with
National Mirror correspondent
on Sunday commended
Nigerians for showing high-level patriotism by coming out en
masse to cast their votes. However, fears associating
with a repeat of the June 12
palaver might be a welcome call
when one considers the recent
comment of the national
chairman of the Third Republic National Republican Convention
(NRC), Chief Tom Ikimi. Ikimi, who was a former
member of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), but recently
defected to the ruling Peopls
Democratic Party (PDP) was
quoted as saying: the North should wait for 2019 before
vying for presidency.

Sports / Mashaba Warned Players About Musa by Mickop(m): 12:25pm On Mar 30, 2015
Head coach of South Africa national team
Ephraim Mashaba, has revealed he warned his
players about Nigeria stand in captain Ahmed
Musa prior to yesterday friendly game. Musa scored a curler to open scoring for
Nigeria but Bongani Zungu ensured a draw for
his side, scoring in stoppage time to end the tie
on a 1-1 draw. Mashaba while praising his team effort in the
game despite their failure to win, praised
Nigeria goalscorer Ahmed Musa saying he
warned his defenders about the threat of the
CSKA Moscow forward. The 22 year old scored a replica of his first
goal against Argentina at the World cup 2014
in Brazil in Nigeria second group game, a game
he scored a brace although Nigeria lost 2-3. "I said to the players before the game, there's
this Musa-number 7, don't give him an area
where he faces goals because he will punish
us" He said in his post match conference. "We had him in the first half and he was
nowhere, we had him for some time in the
second half. "When he started playing, he
Sports / Amokachi Happy With Bafana Draw by Mickop(m): 12:10pm On Mar 30, 2015
Nigeria's senior
national team
interim coach,
Daniel Amokachi
has described the outcome of his side's 1-1 draw
against South Africa in an
international friendly as a fair
result. Bongani Zungu's injury-time strike
rescued a point for Bafana Bafana as he cancelled Ahmed Musa's excellent strike in
Sunday's friendly against Nigeria
at the Mbombela Stadium. According to 'the Bull' as he is
fondly called, his men were
unlucky not to have won the game
despite going a goal up with less
than five minutes to the end of the
encounter. “It is fair, coming away from home
after losing to Uganda. Ninety-
eight percent of the players are
having their first, second or third
caps," Amokachi during the post
match conference. “It is a fair result but when you are
winning and one goal up,
conceding is not good." Nigeria had bowed 1-0 to Uganda
on Wednesday at the Akwa Ibom
Stadium courtesy of Farouk Miya's
81st minute strike.
