Politics › Re: Brazilian Exchange Students In Nigeria Refuse To Sleep In Unilag Female Hostel by mickyarams(op): 11:25am On Feb 26, 2013
Somebody should tell these Brazilian idiots they are not from Switzerland and their country is full of slums and should not be given any special treatment in Nigeria. If they don't like Nigeria they can 4ck off back their slum in sao paolo and live like a queen there.
Politics › Brazilian Exchange Students In Nigeria Refuse To Sleep In Unilag Female Hostel by mickyarams(op):
Nigeria is currently embroiled in a diplomatic stand-off with Brazil over an incidence that occurred at the University of Lagos. Female students from Brazil who are part of a one year exchange programme at the university, refused to stay in the hostel accommodations provided for them on campus even after school authorities provided generating sets for the rooms, installed air-conditioner units, and equipped the rooms with water purifiers, DSTV, internet access and working telephone lines.

The foreign students turned down the rooms and asked instead for accommodation in any of the reputable five star Hotels in Lagos. The Nigerian programme coordinator refused, telling them that their Nigerian counterparts in Brazil had settled down into the student accommodations provided for them in Brazil so there was no reason the Brazilians shouldn't stay in Moremi Hall in Unilag. Unbeknown to authorities, the foreign students contacted their Embassy claiming that they were in fear for their lives and this led to Interpol agents being called in to 'rescue' the Brazilians from Unilag.

This has now resulted in a tense exchange of words between officials of the two countries but the Brazilians are unrelenting in their decision to remove their citizens from University of Lagos and from the exchange programme. Speaking from the Brazilian embassy in Lagos, one of the rescued girls explained why she and her fellow exchange students were afraid for their lives. According to her, during their induction, when they first arrived in Unilag, they noticed that a lot of Nigerian girls had Brazilian hair on their heads.

This did not alarm them and they even found it amusing when they learnt that women were willing to pay as much as $2000 for the hair of their compatriots.

What gave them concern however, was when they learnt that Nigerians are fond of using black magic to remove such intimate body parts as sex organs from their fellow Nigerians - for the sake of money. And to make matters worse, when they started mixing with their hosts, they noticed that more than a few Nigerian female students demonstrated 'more than casual' interest in their hair. At this point they really became afraid.

They reasoned that if Nigerians can steal each other’s sex organs and if Brazilian hair is an expensive and highly sort after commodity, then sleeping in a Nigerian female hostel can only be asking for trouble. As of the time of going to press, efforts were being made by school authorities to allay the fears of the Brazilian students and to avert what could become a major international incidence.

Measures being considered by the University VC include banning the fixing of human hair or asking residents of Moremi Hall to sign an undertaking that they will not employ any tactics, physical or spiritual, to harvest the hairs of their Brazilian guests.

Yet again, special treatment for foreigners in Nigeria. These people treat Nigerians as if they are not humans in their own countries. I would have locked them up with hard labour for a long time.

Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which people, either when falling asleep or wakening, temporarily experience an inability to move. More formally, it is a transition state between wakefulness and rest characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness). It can occur at sleep onset or upon awakening, and it is often associated with terrifying visions (e.g. an intruder in the room), to which one is unable to react due to paralysis. It is believed a result of disrupted REM sleep, which is normally characterized by complete muscle atonia that prevents individuals from acting out their dreams. Sleep paralysis has been linked to disorders such as narcolepsy, migraines, anxiety disorders, and obstructive sleep apnea; however, it can also occur in isolation. When linked to another disorder, sleep paralysis commonly occurs in association with the neuromuscular disorder narcolepsy.

Sleep paralysis occurs either when falling asleep, or when awakening. When it occurs upon falling asleep, the person remains aware while the body shuts down for REM sleep, and it is called hypnagogic or predormital sleep paralysis. When it occurs upon awakening, the person becomes aware before the REM cycle is complete, and it is called hypnopompic or postdormital. The paralysis can last from several seconds to several minutes, with some rare cases being hours, "by which the individual may experience panic symptoms"(described below). As the correlation with REM sleep suggests, the paralysis is not entirely complete; use of EOG traces shows that eye movement is still possible during such episodes, however, the individual experiencing sleep paralysis is unable to speak.

Several circumstances have been identified that are associated with an increased risk of sleep paralysis. These include insomnia and sleep deprivation, an erratic sleep schedule, sleeping in the supine position, stress, overuse of stimulants, physical fatigue, as well as certain medications that are used to treat ADHD. It is also believed that there may be a genetic component in the development of RISP due to a high concurrent incidence of sleep paralysis in monozygotic twins. Sleeping in the supine position has been found to be an especially prominent instigator of sleep paralysis.
Sleeping in the supine position is believed to make the sleeper more vulnerable to episodes of sleep paralysis because in this sleeping position it is possible for the soft palate to collapse and obstruct the airway. This is a possibility regardless of whether the individual has been diagnosed with sleep apnea or not. There may also be a greater rate of microarousals while sleeping in the supine position because there is a greater amount of pressure being exerted on the lungs by gravity.

mikel has really failed to deliver in chelsea.you all should remember that mikel joined chelsea the same time as kalou, and the both of them were given 5-10 minutes of match at the beginning of the season.but kalou proved himself by putting in extra effort to play well, and that is the reason why he is playing more matches than mikel. To be honest mikel is really boring to watch at chelsea,he dosen't really like to go foward with the ball, he just holds and passes which sums up thereason why he is playing 1 minute.I tink he will be loaned to sunderland. grin

in response to olabowale's post that says christians are allowed to practise their religion in saudi arabia, I will like to comment that it isn't true at all.Olabowale should do his research properly and he will find out it is an offence to practise christianity in their so called holy land. And also about you commenting that the jews migrated to the nation Israel, you should remember that these are the people coming back from the tragedy of the holocaust and also remember that they used to dwell in that land until they were scattered all over the world.I thank God for using countries like America and Great britain for gathering these people together and puting them were they belong and that is why they are the world's super powers, but instead the arab world will never let them rest.I just think the arab world is jealous of the jews because they see them prospering at a very fast rate.It is high time the arab world started to do something positive with their lives instaed of fighting israel and blowing up themselves and causing chaos all over the western world.

These muslim people are just trying to take the piss.Just on friday a muslim woman who is a teacher here in london was asked not to put her veil on while she's teaching, but she took that as an offence and started campaigning about her religion and race.I saw that as a complete madness, because I can't imagine myself being taught by someone i can't see. It's hihg time muslims all over the world started to live like civilized people and put all their religious shit behind them.I don't know why they are quick to take little things as an offence. It is very easy for me to start the 3rd world war now by just saying something rude about prophet mohammed.
Christianity Etc › Re: Jack Straw Versus The Veil Of Aisha Bint Talha by mickyarams: 10:06pm On Oct 12, 2006
wearing of veils amongst muslim women is a breach of security and should be banned in England. If blokes with hooded jackets are not allowed in a supermarket for security reasons, why then should a ninja also be allowed
Christianity Etc › Re: Jack Straw Versus The Veil Of Aisha Bint Talha by mickyarams: 9:07pm On Oct 09, 2006
I think jack straw has made a good point by asking those s to get the veil off their face.I think it will be very difficult for anybody to communicate with someone you can't see.I am surprised when I travel on the streets of London and you see lots of muslim women dressed like Ninjas, this muslim people can't continue to have things done in their favour everytime and they should also remember that the uk is a christian nation. They have been given enough humanrights to practise their religion freely which I think should also be the same for christians living in arab countries, because I learnt it is an offense to practise christianity in countries like saudi arabia which i think is not fair at all.

I agree with the bloke that blamed the northerners for our slow development in Nigeria. While most southern states are making efforts to moderise their enviroment,The Northern governors are on a ing mat planning to introduce sharia law in their states in order to get more disabled people and beggars on the streets. As for me i reckon the northerners are still living in the stone age and I blame Lord Lugard for amalgamating southern Nigeria with Northern Nigeria.

You see some nollywood films where you find a lot of people standing and watching the actors where the filming is taking place. That is what I call Amateur filming.
The movie effects also look like a powerpoint presentation
TV/Movies › Re: Common Flaws in Nigerian Home Videos by mickyarams: 5:12pm On Sep 21, 2006
Yeah I'm happy someone has finally brought out this topic.
My first flaw in nollwood movie is the fuckin adverts that take ages and also ends with "51 iweka road onistha"
Secondly why do they come up with movies that finishes at the interesting part and they ask you to watch out for part 2.Anyway,I know it is part of their business strategy.I also hate to see th nigerian police on any nollywood movie because they all look like boyscouts.Just try to compare them with the fbi and cia you see on hollywood movies you can see the difference is clear.Their police station is just too disgraceful

Honestly, those two boys are boring to watch and the things they say and stuffs they do is just senseless. You see them in movies where they go after girls that are 5 times taller than them.I think we should be much more realistic in our nollywood movies. You don't have to force youself or overdo and exagerate things just to make people laugh.Upcoming comedians in nigeria should follow the example of people like sam loco,I think he is naturally funny and he will surely entertain you.
