The truth is if world war 3 were to happen, no African country has the means of defending itself because most countries in Africa are equipped with weapons from the cold war era and also we rely too much on countries from outside Africa for our weapons. There's a program on discovery channel that shows the latest weapons the Americans and Eurpeans have got and Nigeria will struggle in a battle with any of these countries.

The solution is in the hands of we youths, instead of us bashing our ethnic tribes everyday on nairaland, we need to organise a peaceful March in FCT in our millions and fight for our future on a daily basis until the cretins we call leaders start listening to us. I am happy to join any peaceful demonstration that can achieve this. Going to church or mosque to donate money for private jet will not help us, God is not a magician!
Oyinbos that don't even have GCSE will come to our country, we give them official cars with drivers, we give them company houses with security, they enjoy a luxurious lifestyle they can only dream of in their own country. We would have to fast and pray to get a visa to their country and when you get there they make you wash toilets and work as a security guard and still blame us for their economic problems. It's hightime we Africans realised we cannot continue to live like this and we havve to sort out our problems at home because there is no place like home.

Very good analysis, it annoys me so much when our government gives important projects to foreign companies as if our people are so daft they can't do it. How many African companies have you seen constructing schools, hospitals etc.... outside of Africa?
We cannot grow if we contine to rely on other countries for everything.
FrostyZonn: 6. The Rich

Subaltern Mentality

There are two kinds of people in Africa, those who can’t make a living regardless of how much they put in, and those with lavish lifestyle and privileges regardless of how little they contribute.

The first group is made of those who has
not contact with “white” people, and the
second is made of people who has contact with “white” people.

If you live in Africa or know some African people, make a list of 10 people you know or have heard about who have a “good life” and social privileges. You’ll quickly find out that 90% those who have a good life are people who work for the “white” or with the “white”. They serve foreign-owned or controlled companies, organizations or foreign NGOs in Africa. They have big houses, nice cars, home servants, and enjoy high social status and privileges.

I call those the “Rich subalterns” or the “Selected subalterns”. (“White” in Africa is used for “European”, “Chinese” “Lebanese”, “American”, etc. In the context of this article it could be easily
replaced by “foreigners”.)

What is the problem?

The problem is that you can’t develop a country or continent where the majority of people who have the potential to become leaders are raised to be “good subalterns” to be successful.

https://www.siliconafrica.com/wp-content/themes/directorypress/thumbs//Rich-subalterns.jpg

Young people aspire to emulate the most successful models in their society, and now the only visible and tangible model available is the rich subaltern model.

There will be no problem with the rich subaltern model if this group of population was not made mainly with “non-productive” people working in middle management position. Middle managers in office don’t create companies, they don’t create value, they don’t create jobs, they don’t invent, innovate or act in leadership position with the power to change things.

Another problem we have is greed and no respect for ourselves. You try hiking around Africa with white friends, you will realise the whites will be treated better than you when trying to cross borders and you the African will be humiliated by your fellow Africans.

The three officers - dressed in high-visibility jackets and uniform - began jiving and grinding, and even displaying a little light twerking, before forming a line on the floor and starting to row.

They were circled by crowds of revellers who cheered and screamed as they danced.

A video of the policemen on YouTube under the name "Notting Hill Carnival 2013 Police Dance Off", posted by MOOF Bulleh, had attracted more than 100,000 views by Monday night.

The identity of the officers is not known. A Met Police spokesman declined to comment.

Politics › Re: Nigerian Senators Earn Four Times More Than Obama" – David-west by mickyarams: 8:28am On Aug 18, 2013
A Nigerian senator earns more in Salary than Barack Obama of the US and David Cameron of the UK. I'll leave you to tell how much Nigerian president goes home with at the end of each month. An Indian lawmaker must work for at least 49 years to earn the annual salary of a Nigerian senator.
In the United States, while the minimum wage is $1,257 (N191, 667), a US lawmaker earns $15,080 (N2.3m) per month. In the United Kingdom, a lawmaker earns $8,686(N1.3m) monthly while the gross national minimum wage is $1,883 (N283, 333) per month. Also, Nigerian lawmakers earn higher than their counterparts in Sweden. With a monthly pay of $7,707 (N1.2m), a lawmaker in Sweden will need to work for over 12 years to equal what a Nigerian senator earn per annum.
The president of the United States takes home an anual salary of $400,000 (N64.156,0m), including a $50,000 expense allowance making the president the highest paid public servant in the US. The $400,000 includes everything and $350,000 out of it is taxable.

Motor Vehicle Allowance: 400% of BS = N9,936,982.00

Total per month = N29, 479, 749.00

A senator's anual salary = over N182 million multiply by 109 senators (don't forget the House of rep, ministers, ambassadors, ...)

In addition to the regular and legitimate salaries and allowances of over N17 million ($113,333) and N14.99 million ($99,933) which senators and reps were collecting yearly and the irregular allowance of estacodes, duty tours etc, they were also collecting over N192m ($1.28m) and N140m ($0.93m) respectively in illicit quarterly allocation which is not provided for by RMAFC.
Effectively, a Nigerian senator was taking home at least $1.40m ($1.28m quarterly allocations + $0.113m regular salaries and allowances) as against the $0.174m an American senator takes home hence a Nigeria senator earns at least 8 times as much as an American senator and more than 3 times the American president.
Whereas a Senator in the U.S earns N21, 146,000, the same as a member of the House of Representatives; a UK Member of Parliament earn £64,766 (N14, 896,180)
In other words, a Federal Legislator in Nigeria is paid more than double what a Member of British Parliament earns per annum.
Senate President David Mark alone takes N250 million quarterly or N83.33 million per month. Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremadu gets N150 million per quarter or N50 million a month.
Mark and Ekweremadu earns in 4 months, six times what the UK Prime Minister earns in a year. David Cameron goes home with £190,000 per anum (N43, 700,000)
In a newspaper news article entitled ‘An Assembly for looting’ written by Musikilu Mojeed with Elor Nkereuwem, the authors rightly claimed that each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives were getting N35 million in cash money in quarterly allocation while each of the 109 Senators pockets N48 million each. These allocations have however been slashed by 20% to N27 million ($180,000) and N38 million ($253,333) respectively due to the 20% reduction requested by the late president.

Please tell me, how do we expect this banana republican hell fire to become a country tomorrow.
Do you still ask why Nigerian politics is a do or die affair?

Politics › Should Nigeria Still Be Part Of The Common Wealth? by mickyarams(op): 5:05pm On Aug 16, 2013
Over the years I have always struggled to find out what Nigeria and other developing countries gain from the common wealth. The UK claims they give us foreign aid but most of that money goes back to their economy with our politicians buying Rolls royces, private jets and weapons from that country and keeping their remaining loots in banks there. The recent visa bond imposed on countries like Nigeria, Ghana, India, Pakistan etc..... proves my point. The UK govt defends this bond because citizens of these countries are high risk migrants despite the fact there are lots of migrants from other common wealth countries such as Australia that overstay their visas in the UK. With the rate of economic growth in countries like China, India, Nigeria, South Africa and Brazil would it not be great if we formed an economic block with these countries and let the UK go screw themselves, Or can someone tell me what we actually gain from being in the common wealth.

Politics › Re: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway And The Churches - Joe Igbokwe by mickyarams: 3:29pm On Aug 13, 2013
In civilized countries, places of worship and social gatherings such as pubs clubs etc.... has to go through stringent planning process from the local council before they are allowed to build anything. This was the reason why Winners chapel and other African churches are struggling to find a big place of worship in the Uk because of the extra traffic and noise they will cause to the local residents. Last time I was in Nigeria, I stayed with a relative that lives on a street that has more than 10 churches and about 3 mosques. People can't sleep well because of the noise blasting through outdoor speakers from countless night vigils, and when the churches finish in the morning, the mosques will start their own noise at about 5am, the whole thing is just complete madness.

If this guy is testifying in church about his past as a terrorist murderer, should the authorities not arrest him and try him for murder instead of every one praising the Lord for his new life. He is a murderer that has destroyed many lives and a lot of families are still suffering from his actions. Just because He's on the pupilt now does not mean he should not pay for his past. He can practice his Christianity in prison.

The money that will be spent to build this mega structure can be better spent on building an orphanage or food bank for the poor, I'm sure Jesus would love that as well. We have more than enough places of worship in Nigeria already. These pastors travel to Europe and America and see how religious organisations invest in looking after the poor and not building mega structures and buying private jets. Great Ormond street hospital which is the best hospital for kids in the world gets majority of its funding from churches in England.
