Flout face-mask order, pay N300,000 fine –Cross River

The Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, has ordered seizure of vehicles whose passengers refuse to wear nose masks and defaulters are to pay N300,000 fine.

This followed the low compliance level with the no mask, no movement order in the state.

The governor in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, late Monday said security agents should henceforth impound any vehicle carrying passengers who are not wearing nose masks.


“Such impounded vehicles, which must be towed to the secretariat of the COVID-19 task force, should only be released after the payment of N300,000 fine by the owner of the vehicle.

“Individuals, no matter their standing in the society, who are found in public without nose masks, should be arrested on the spot and quarantined for 14 days,” he said.

The governor also co-opted all appointees of government, with the exception of the expatriates, performing one function or the other at the Cross River State Garment Factory, into the COVID-19 task force.


“Consequently, Mr Joseph Edet (La Shakara) is appointed the acting Managing Director of the Cross River State Garment Factory with immediate effect,” he said.

Ayade also granted approval for an open ended order for supply of nose masks by tailors in the state to the garment factory to meet demands.

Russia claims it produces drug to treat COVID-19

MOSCOW

Russia on Saturday claimed it has created a drug, based on the antimalarial Mefloquine, to treat patients suffering from the coronavirus, known as COVID-19.

The drug prevents virus replication in cells and as a result stops the inflammatory process caused by the virus, the Russian Federal Biomedical Agency said in a statement.

Veronika Skvortsova, the agency’s head, said Mefloquine has to be combined with antibiotics for the maximum effect, allowing increase in the concentration of antiviral agents in blood plasma and lungs.

"This will ensure effective treatment of patients with various degrees of coronavirus infection," Skvortsova said.

Earlier in the day, the Russian government announced 228 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number in the country to 1,264, with six deaths.

A total of 49 people have so far recovered from the virus.

In a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Russia has banned entry of foreign nationals and canceled all international flights.

Authorities are also considering a ban on movement inside the country.

After first appearing in Wuhan, China, in December, the virus, officially known as COVID-19, has spread to at least 177 countries and regions, according to data compiled by U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.

The data shows more than 618,000 cases have been reported worldwide, with the death toll surpassing 28,600, and over 135,700 recoveries.

Not at all, it is just that down here engineers use 5" blocks for bungalows n 6" or 9 for high rise buidings.
I decided to use 6" for external because i will b using casement wit buglar embedded wic will flush well in 6" than 5". I intend to av overhead tank above where d kitchen is.
