PoliticsAndy Uba: Facts Are Stubborn by midascnn(op): 9:54am On Oct 10, 2021
By Obi Trice Emeka

In understanding the effects of propaganda and the denial of truth, even when evidence stare us in the face, I take solace in the words of Mahatma Gandhi: "An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it."
In our clime, with its penchant to believe the vociferous majority or anything that is said to be trending or to have been shared multiple times on social media or regurgitated endlessly by a herd of people, truth is often obscured and character assassinated just because the vociferous chose gullibility over facts.

One of the most popular regurgitated propaganda tales in the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial election is the attempt to link Sen. Andy Uba with the sad mayhem that befell Anambra state under the administration of Dr. Chris Ngige where a sitting Governor was kidnapped and public properties destroyed. The propagandists had sought to lay a nexus between that incident and Sen. Andy Uba, by simply citing a relationship with President Olusegun Obasanjo whom he served at the time as Special Adviser on Domestic Matters and Chris Uba, younger brother to Sen. Uba who is said to be linked with the incident. In their weird thinking, if Chris Uba is/was involved in that incident, then it can only be through the endorsement of his brother at the Presidency, hence without any proof seek to transfer a vicarious liability to Sen. Andy Uba. Indeed, the propagandists have gone a notch higher, heaping the entire liability on the whole Uba family - without any proof of any larger family connections.

But facts are stubborn, no matter how one tries to bend it, it remains inelastic. As at 2003, Chris Uba was a BOT member of the People's Democratic Party, the highest hierarchy of the party as its youngest member.

On the other hand, Sen.Andy Uba who was invited by President Olusegun Obasanjo to assist him from his United States of America (USA) base was only but a Domestic Aide to the President.
As a BOT member of the PDP, Chris had access to the President and the hierarchy of the party and needed no one to introduce him to the President.
In fact, President Obasanjo is no fool and no one could game or force him to do what he wished not to. Not only is he belligerent, President Obasanjo suffers no foolhardiness. He knows what he wants at any time and goes for it. It's only a mischievous genius of satire, therefore, that would try to insinuate that a no nonsense General Obasanjo was ever controlled by an SA on Domestic Matters, to do what he never wanted to do. Obasanjo never left anyone in doubt who was in charge of his government and anyone who tried to question his authority had scars that would never heal as evidence. It was, therefore, impossible for Sen.Andy Uba as a Domestic aide to force a stoic Obasanjo to take an action he, Obasanjo hasn't decided to.

Come to think of it, Obasanjo's use of unconventional methods to dislodge Governors who were opposed to him during his reign isn't in question. Gov. Joshua Dariye of Jos was impeached in a gestapo style with only six out of the 24 members of the Plateau House of Assembly. Similar things played out in Bayelsa and Obasanjo attempted to use the same method in Lagos, illegally stifling the allocation of Lagos with no consequence.
To now seek to link Sen. Uba to the actions or inactions of President Obasanjo in office is most uncharitable and can only come from the wicked machinations of dangerous conspiracy theorists. I am sure no one in Nigeria can offhandedly mention the name of the present SA to the President on Domestic Matters, or any other in the history of Nigeria. Special Assistants to the President are low-key appointments within the Presidency, as they have no constitutional authority on any matter, or any functional powers and hence are always obscure and attend only to the personal needs of the President.
I know Nigerians love the illusions of power and arrogate it freely with their illusions. These illusionists have out of their imaginations arrogated an out-of-size power to Sen.Andy Uba while he was at the Presidency and from that imagination created obfuscating conspiracy theories.
It is necessary that I state that, in all public interviews granted by Ngige and others knowledgeable in the matter, none has ever linked Sen.Andy Uba to the saga. The propagandists and theorists are thus advised to try out their luck elsewhere.

For the records, there is no evidence or report anywhere that have, either directly or indirectly, linked Sen. Andy Uba to the mayhem in Anambra state in 2004.
Anyone who claims otherwise is hereby challenged to provide evidence.
In fact, anyone who knows Sen.Andy Uba up close will testify that he is a perfect gentleman incapable of hurting a fly and exudes goodness at all times. This is probably why enormous goodwill has continued to flow towards his ambition to become the Governor of Anambra state from all over the country. Sen. Uba is not obligated by law to bear any vicarious liability for his brother Chris, or indeed, anyone else. He can only answer to any crime committed by himself and no one else. So far, despite serving eight years at the Senate and eight years at the Presidency, not one corruption charge has been brought against him. This remains an insistent fact.

In his eight years at the Senate, Andy went on to become one of the most profligate in terms of bills. I am not sure anyone in the South East did better than him, and the quality of the bills would leave an unbiased observer amazed, especially at his adept focus on what really matters. There's no community in Anambra South Senatorial Zone - which he represented - that does not have at least, one constituency project from Sen. Uba while he was at the Senate, especially projects related to educational infrastructure.
In 10 years, I doubt if any Senator from Anambra South will beat his records at the Senate. Because these things were under reported, the propagandists have latched on to this error to label him an underperformer. But, the facts are stubborn and it will not cow to anyone.

The APC gubernatorial candidate, Sir. Andy Uba has advised newly inducted knights of the Anglican Church to stand up for Christianity and its value at all times, stating that knights must do everything to stand up for Christianity by propagating the gospel in all corners of the globe and ensuring that timeless Christian Values do not get eroded.

"At this peril times where Christian values are being eroded and are under constant attacks by a rapidly changing world, it's pertinent that as knights we must rise to defend Christian values and also ensure that the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is preached in all corners of the Earth as instructed in Matthew 28:19-20. We should never be afraid to stand for Christianity and never should we compromise our belief in Christ Jesus'' the APC gubernatorial candidate stated.

The former Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District whose immense contributions to the growth of the church and humanity stands tall was invested as a Knight of Saint Christopher in 2010.

PoliticsAndy Uba; Destroying The Myth by midascnn(op): 12:49pm On Aug 12, 2021
By Obi Trice Emeka

It was the Irish poet, William Butler who wrote that "What man does not understand, he fears; and what he fears, he tends to destroy.” This is the story of Senator Andy Uba, a man whose entrance into public Administration and Politics in Nigeria has ensured that the best brains where given ample opportunities to contribute to the development of this country and thanks to his fecund abilities in identifying talents, he became the springboard through intellectuals rose to contribute to the greatness of Nigeria. Often obscured from public commentary is that his deft skill in identifying exceptional talents is one reason why the Obasanjo government excelled and in retrospect, that era now regarded as one of the best times in Nigeria in terms of economic management and policy planning.

In truth, if there is anyone who is to take the place of Nnamdi Azikiwe in Igboland it should be Senator Andy Uba for just as Nnamdi Azikiwe became the springboard through which many intellectual Igbo men occupied highly ranked administrative positions in Nigeria in the 60s, Sen. Andy Uba equally gave tens of Ndigbo that opportunity to get to the pinnacle of their careers in public service between 1999 and 2007. From the Amazon, Dora Akunyili, to the first DG of the Nigerian Communications Commission who ushered in GSM communications in Nigeria, Ernest Ndukwe and a host of others. Undeniable is that a plethora of Igbo men were given the opportunity to serve the nation due to the assistance of Sen. Andy Uba as the then Special Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo on Domestic matters from 1999 to 2007.

Sen. Andy Uba is a taciturn, not giving to frivolous speaking as often associated with many in our polity. He is also not trapped to the ceremoniousness and vanities common around here. Those who do not understand this- being different in a locality where megalomaniacs exhibit vain showmanship to court public attention have continued to be bemused by the Senator's quiet and unassuming lifestyle. Rather than seek to understand this enigma, chose to fall into Butler's classification as they seek to destroy him using all manners of accusations and blasphemy, yet Sen. Andy Uba is far from the adjectives they describe him with. His accusers when put on the spot will create all manners of verbosity to conceal their ignorance. Fact: Sen. Andy Uba isn't what they say he is. He is a humane talent hunter.

Sen. Andy Uba is a thinker and a fecund one at that. Rather than waste time on vanity metrics, he has always focused on what matters. At the Senate he distinguished, being one of the most ranked in terms of bills notably being the Nigerian Prisons Correction Bill

In 2021, Sen. Andy Uba will be bringing a breath of fresh air to Anambra state. In a state in which parochial interest has defined public appointments, Sen. Andy Uba is coming to once more to use his exceptional skill as a talent hunter to identify outliers and give them that opportunity to work alongside him to rescue Anambra from the precipice which the state is presently at. He did excellently as an Adviser and as the Governor of Anambra State he will do much more.

In a publication sighted in few mushroom news blogs which are well-known dens of fake and malicious news, the author alleged that Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo tendered a fake WAEC result ‘to bewitch INEC’. Ordinarily, this is a most puerile allegation requiring no response but for the sake of posterity and undiscerning members of the public including our party members we wish to state that the publication is false in its entirety.

Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo duly sat for his WASSCE and obtained the original certificate issued by the West African Examination Council, copies of which he submitted to the National Organizing Secretary of APC alongside his Nomination form. The documents were verified by the screening committee of the party to be totally genuine. PoliticsOpinion: Democratic Legitimacy, Supreme Court And The Imo Crisis by midascnn(op): 1:24pm On Feb 25, 2021
By Ralph Achalonu

Within the last twenty years, Imo State has been grappling and even grooving in the dark on how to reset its governance system. The peculiarities of the Nigerian democracy is compounded by leadership recruitment process. Such that Imo State has regrettably become a victim in bounds.

In 2019, Imo voters had hoped that the governorship election would provide for them a platform to squarely address the democratic deficit of past administrations and their sordid experiences. It was an occasion that the voters had longed for to deploy their democratic rights as given by the universal adult suffrage to every man and woman to cast his or her vote.

While the Imo voters kept to their faith, and voter Hon. Emeka Ihedioha into office as roadmap to reset Imo for good governance and development, the Nigerian state, this time, the Supreme Court as a democratic institution had a different thought. On 14th January, 2020 in the peak of Coronavirus pandemic, the Supreme Court nullified the legitimate mandate of Imo voters and took their votes and gave to Sen. Hope Uzodinma, a candidate that came fourth. A candidate whose party and his candidature had already been nullified by the same Supreme Court in the case of Uche Nwosu vs APP & Others.

It is this miscarriage of justice propelled by the Nigerian state and powerful forces in Abuja and the nation's ruling party that has landed Imo in unimaginable political crisis. By the very decision of the Court which denied Imo voters of their democratic rights, the Supreme Court had given political power to an occupant without the legitimacy. In a democracy, legitimacy is very sacrosanct.

While this writer do not in any way intend to question or disparage the Supreme Court, it is shocking that for nearly a year now, the appeal for the enforcement of the judgement in the case of Uche Nwosu vs APP & Others/SC.1384/2019 have been laying fallow for so long. This seeming delay and the inability of the Supreme Court to take action is responsible for the deplorable condition Imo is facing at present.

Of a truth, Uzodinma is fighting a two prong wars. One is to curry favour from Abuja; the other is exert himself and force legitimacy from the people. Democratic legitimacy cannot be gotten through fiat or brute force. It's derived democratically, specifically, through elections and the ballot box.

It is pathetic that Imo people have to go through this sad experience. Uzodinma's quest to brutally gain legitimacy has resulted in political crisis, whereby, governance and development in the state hs taken a back seat. Even at that, Uzodinma's penchant to resort to self-help without exploring all the democratically recognized institutions of law and other has escalated the crisis in the state.

On the other hand, Sen. Rochas Okorocha's resolve to dare the state government is indirectly an attempt to exert power and prove that the government in Imo lacks legitimacy. The issue of legitimacy is at the core of the ongoing crisis in the state. These squabbles are all the footprints of the crisis of legitimacy in Imo State.

Further, the current crisis has left Imo state lagging behind in many respects. Because of the leadership gap and the legitimacy question, the Okigwe Zone, today do not have a Senator on the floor of the Nigerian Senate. Imo State now suffers from an avalanche of crisis from political, leadership, government and worst still, development..

That notwithstanding, Imo citizens will never lose faith on the Supreme Court as a democratic institution. We have the hope that if the Supreme Court expeditiously re-examine its judgement on the Uche Nwosu vs APP & Others matters, just will surely be done. Imo State deserves a more democratic atmosphere and rancor-free politics, this prospect of sane leadership and good governance will never be feasible. Let the Supreme Court acts now.

Achalonu, is a public affairs analyst, he wrote from Owerri, Imo State capital.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma has urged young Nigerian entrepreneurs to learn from the failures of their mentors and other entrepreneurs.

Speaking during Anaedoonline 2nd Year Anniversary Lecture, the Billionaire Businessmen said that he refuses to accept the idea that Nigeria is a failed nation, noting that the country is a land of opportunities.

He revealed that ever since he started trading and manufacturing, none of his businesses has failed.

"One of the reasons I did not make mistakes when I started business, is because I listen and learnt a lot from my senior brother, Chief Gabriel Chukwuuma (Gabros)"

"Most young entrepreneurs have a lot of ideas, but they fail because most of them don't have mentors or people to guide them during implementation"

"I didn't have the opportunity to further my education, I went into trading when I was very young, I learnt how to trade from Mr. Pius Maduka, the senior brother of coscharis, he was the one that trained me in motorcycle spare parts, while my senior brother, Gabros, funded the business"

HealthMy Marriage Makes Me Put More Effort Into Work- NAUTH CMAC Reveals by midascnn(op): 8:55am On Aug 07, 2020
By Nnenna Joseph

Last month, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi Dr Joseph Ugboaja tied the nut with his sweetheart, Mrs Ezinne Ugboaja in a quiet wedding ceremony witnessed by close friends and family.

CMAC, Dr Jo as he is fondly called is renowned for his dedication to work which makes him put extra hours daily to meet targets.

His marriage to Ezinne got tongues wagging, wondering if he will cut down the time he spends at work to be with his beautiful wife.

At an over-lunch discussion, Dr Ugboaja revealed that his marriage gives him the motivation to put in double effort at work in the office. He also confessed that balancing marriage and work is not an easy task, however, he has found a way to navigate it.

“Marriage is exciting and sweet but balancing occurs naturally. I gradually noticed that I no longer take plenty of work back home because I won't be able to do them; I look forward to going home early and little stuff like that and I even have the motivation to put in more at the office. Even when it becomes too stressful at the office, I am calm because I know I will soon go home to relax and have fun with my wife. It has been exciting”.

He advised married couples to separate work from home and make out time for family because, in the end, family is the most important unit that makes up the society.
