The Peoples Democratic Party has said President Goodluck Jonathan is ready to face Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) on March 28 for the presidential election. While Jonathan is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Buhari is the candidate of the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress. The APC had alleged that both Jonathan and his party were planning to scuttle the elections as they were alleged not to be ready. The opposition party claimed that both the President and the PDP were afraid that they would be defeated during the election. But the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organsiation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said that it would be foolhardy of anyone to say the President Jonathan was not ready for the elections. He also debunked the claim that the ruling party and the President were sponsoring some lesser political parties to call for the shift of the elections, especially in the North-East. Fani-Kayode said, “How can anyone say we are not ready for the elections? President Jonathan is ready to challenge General Buhari anyway because he’s going to defeat him. We were ready for the last election and we are also ready for this one. “We have people coming to this office every day to strategise and we also have our Legacy House for the election. Leaders of the party from the national chairman to other members of the National Working Committee are there” Fani-Kayode also berated former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the spokesperson for the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who he said, were accusing him of many crimes, including bad health. He said, “If anybody is to talk about ill health. They should talk about themselves and not about me. “My name is Femi Fani Kayode, and nobody can kill me before my time. Nobody can cut me short and I harbour no fear of violence and I do not take threats lightly. Neither do I fear for my life. “Because I have never shed blood and I do not believe in violence, the angel of the Lord will strike that person dead before they point a gun at me in Jesus Name.” Meanwhile, the party has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their renewed solidarity and overwhelming support for President Jonathan. http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-ready-for-buhari-says-pdp/ |
An Osun based civil society group, the Osun Progressives Left has warned against further postponement of the general elections, removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attairu Jega and involvement of military in democratic process. The group also likened President Goodluck Jonathan style of administration to that of a former leader of Germany, Adolf Hitler who started the World war 2 and former President of Ivory Coast, LaurenT Gbagbo who refused to hand over power after losing election. According to the group, President Jonathan, like Gbagbo of the Côte d’Ivoire, was making frantic effort to frustrate the conduct of the general electionS, and if possible, stay in office beyond his tenure or handover to an interim government. The spokesperson for the group, Comrade Wale Adebisi at a press conference in Osogbo yesterday, stated that just like Hitler who came from a minority group to rule Germany, President Jonathan wanted to continue ruling Nigeria at all cost and ensure that his ethnic group continue to loot the resources of the country. Adebisi warned that the steps of the president on electoral process could lead to another civil war, threatening that the civil war of 1966 could be repeated if President Jonathan failed to conduct the general elections or relinquish power. His words: “Ivory coast crisis started with election postponement. It degenerated to ethnical crisis and to a full war. It has been proven that people from minority group has the tendency of foisting themselves on people. “Adolf Hitler was from a minority group and he wanted to rule the world at all cost. The Second World War started with ethnic crisis from Germany as well, when Hitler wanted to foist himself on people. I want to say that President Jonathan is also leading Nigeria like Gbagbo and Hitler. “We need to call the president to order. Unfortunately, none of the government institutions is working in Nigeria. The National Assembly cannot call the president to order. The president’s ethnic people have been threatening war of he loses the election. If eventually the president loses election, his ethnical boys will launch attack and this will resort to another civil war.” Adebisi stated that President Jonathan is using religion and ethnic differences to cause disunity among Nigerians which might fuel the imminent civil war like that of Ivory Coast, even as he called on Nigerians not to allow the divide and rule tactics of the president to dissuade them from promoting unity of purpose. Speaking on rumoured plan by the Presidency to remove the INEC chairman, Jega, Adebisi said any attempt to do that was an invitation to anarchy, saying the President should not underestimate the sensitivities of Nigerians to the general elections According to Adebisi, Jega could not be subjected to any civil service law because his appointment and removal is established by law and needs to be ratified by the two-third of the National Assembly, adding that the president would rock the boat if he dares sacks Jega. He warned that Jega must not be removed before or after the general elections. On the proposed deployment of military for the general election, Adebisi said any involvement of military in democratic and electoral process has negate the doctrine of democracy, adding that democracy is no longer in place when there is involvement of military in elections processes. Adebisi said it is unconstitutional and undemocratic for the federal government to deploy military for the conduct of the election, just as he call on President Jonathan not to rescind his decision to use military for the election. The human rights activists called on Nigerians from various ethnic groups to unite, organize and resist any attempt by anybody to frustrate a democratic and electoral process for the conduct of the general elections, saying that the scheduled date for the elections must not be changed. He said: “The election of 28th March and 11th of April are sacrosanct, which must not be shifted beyond those two dates. INEC chairman, Prof Atairu Jega should not be removed on or before the election dates. Nigerian from different ethnic groups should see themselves as one not as enemy and should not allow anybody to use them against one another.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/elections-president-jonathan-acting-like-adolf-hitler-gbagbo/ |

infogenius:honestly, you r bn annoyingly bias..have you forgotten that if JEGA gets replaced today, the new INEC chairman wld be appointed by the PDP? Do you think they would appoint an umpire that won't dance to their tune? Why not wonder why PDP is so keen to replace JEGA even after he has bn cleared by the senate? ..+ Who ever thought Feb 14 election won't hold..the postponement news also started like this. |
"An old man's mouth may be twisted, but his words are not"..Baba iyabo said it earlier that "GEJ is planning to play the gbagbo on us" and that fetched him insults..now its getting clearer by the day that some1 is truly trying to play the gbagbo on us.. It is also getting clearer by the day that some1 is going to end up the GBAGBO way ...Below is Laurent Gbagbo bn tought the hard way to leave office

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over the relentless scheming by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP to push for another postponement of the 2015 general elections, unless they can perfect a rigging plan, and called for the imposition of global sanctions on whoever scuttles the polls. In a statement , Sunday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the multi-pronged efforts to prevent the elections from holding as rescheduled include the use of some 23 portfolio political parties to seek a further shift in the election dates and the destabilization of INEC’s election plan through the orchestrated removal of its Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega. It said the same 23 satellite parties of the PDP that were used to push for the six-week postponement of the elections have again started testing the waters by pushing for a further shift in the elections in the six-states of the North-east, ostensibly to allow the conclusion of the counter-insurgency battle and also to allow those displaced to return home. ”The plan is to use the same bogey of insecurity in the North-east to push for another postponement in the elections. The signs are ominous indeed. The body language of the President and his party does not support the holding of elections. They are mortally afraid of losing because the use of PVCs and Card Readers have thwarted their rigging plans,” APC said. The party said while the 23 parties are pushing for the elections to be further postponed, the Jonathan Administration and the PDP are simultaneously forging ahead with their plan to remove Prof. Jega and replace him with a malleable acting Chairman whom, they believe, will do their bidding. ”Once they remove Jega, his replacement will either seek more time to organize the polls or simply jettison the plan to use Card Readers, thereby opening the door for those who have been buying up PVCs to use them. ”Is it not interesting that the same Administration that has been flaunting free and fair elections as a key achievement has now gone for the jugular of the same man who organized those polls? Is the man they don’t want not the same person who organized the 2011 polls which the Administration has described as free, fair and credible? What has now gone wrong between them and their poster boy for successful elections? it queried. APC warned that the consequences of another postponement of the elections will be dire indeed, especially because it will create a constitutional crisis that is capable of endangering the country’s democracy and destabilizing the country in its entirety The party called on Nigerians, especially the civil society, to be very vigilant in the days ahead, as the cloud of uncertainty becomes thicker and the vultures begin to circle. It also called on the international community to consider imposing stiff sanctions on key members of the Jonathan Administration if they force another postponement or scuttle the polls. ”We believe that Nigerians themselves bear the utmost responsibility for the success of their nation’s democracy and the survival of their country, and we commend those who have stood up to be counted in the ongoing battle to have free and fair elections. ”However, we also believe that the international community has a role to play in helping to check the desperadoes who are using the Laurent Gbagbo rule book as if it was made for them, and who will not hesitate to bring the whole system crashing down on all if that is what it will take for them to perpetuate themselves in power. ”Nigeria is too important to be toyed with or allowed to go under. For example, Nigerians make up more than 56% of the estimated ECOWAS population of 300 million. A destabilized Nigeria, therefore, is a destabilized West Africa and, indeed, a hobbled Africa! ”That is why we believe a travel ban and tough economic sanctions from the international community against these agents of destabilization will be in order. This is a patriotic call,” APC said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/pdp-plots-to-postpone-election-again-sack-jega-says-apc/ |

More of the reason why PDP will lose woefully in the forthcoming election |
No wonder they are against the use of card readers No wonder they want JEGA removed by all means.. But as FFK(the singing parrot) rightly said, "GEJ and PDP rigging machine will fail in the year 2015"..this is coming to pass. |
As the struggle to get his daily bread continues, Auwal Ibrahim, a water vendor, who hails from Funtua in Katsina State, and lives in Nyanya, Abuja says he would not sell his voters’ card despite the hardship that he faces in Abuja. The vendor is one amongst many Nigerians who have vowed not to sell their voters’ card for any reason, even though politicians have been trying to entice them with bags of rice and cash. According to Auwal, “one fateful day, as I went out to do my business with some of my friends at the point where we fetch water, we were discussing as usual and I was asked if I would sell my PVC for N10,000. I was shocked by the statement. Since then, I have being under pressure to sell my voters’ card. I was told by my friends that a certain unnamed lady asked them to look out for people with PVCs so that she could buy them.” It is no longer news that some people are taking advantage of the extension given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the collection of PVCs to perpetuate dubious agenda. In a chat with LEADERSHIP Sunday, the water vendor said that he is confident he will vote in the election even though he is under pressure to sell his voters’ card. Auwal, who continuously expressed his optimism about voting with his PVC, added that he took the pains to travel from Abuja to Funtua, his home town, to register during the INEC registration process. He stated that the orientation he had on the forthcoming election from INEC gives him confidence to participate in the elections. The water vendor said he had been eager to get a voters’ card so that he could participate in the elections, saying that was why he made out time to travel to Funtua to collect his PVC. He reiterated that he has decided to vote for candidates of his choice no matter any amount of money anybody will give to him. Reacting to the shift of the general elections, he said he was not happy about it because he had arrived Katsina, his state of origin, for the voting before the news came to him that the elections had been postponed. According to him, the little money he gathered from the water business was spent on travelling to the village for the election. According to Musa Abu, brother to Auwal, “some crooks that want to make money from politicians and continue to increase the suffering of Nigerians have deviced means of buying voters cards from the public. One however, wonders how they want to make use of the PVCs being purchased. Investigations revealed that hawkers around town who have their voters cards are being enticed with little amounts of money to sell the card. Also, there was a speculation that some political campaigners go from house to house convincing the less privileged in the society with food items and cash to get their votes. According to Francis Momoh, one of the hawker, who has had a first hand experience, some people came to him saying they needed those that have the PVCs and that they are ready to pay any amount of money. He said he will not be a victim of crooks. Meanwhile, one of the reasons for the shift in the election dates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was for all registered voters to use the opportunity to collect their PVCs from the commission. No doubt some residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are still struggling to collect their PVCs just like voters in other parts of the country. Auwal travelled on two occasions to Funtua before he got his voters card. In a city like the FCT, where the cost of living is on the high side, for someone like Auwal and others, shelter is a big challenge, what they feed on comes from their businesses every day. Ordinarily, it will be difficult to believe that the water vendor had to travel from Abuja to register and collect his PVC against the 2015 elections, but the power to make any change depends on votes. and prospective voters are not leaving any stone unturned. http://leadership.ng/news/414592/i-am-under-pressure-to-sell-my-pvc-water-vendor |
IsaAbubakar:you are as fake as your paymaster..FAKE MOFO. |
soe:not just daft, but confused and clueless.. And not just metuh, the whole (PDP) team is confused and clueless... As they ll always be I don't understand..is it not this same JEGA that announced the victory of PDP in the previous election? Is it not the same JEGA GEJ himself commended for a job well done and believed he will conduct a free, fair and credible election as always? So why do they want him removed by all means all of a sudden? As if FFK (the singing bird) saw it coming, when he said "GEJ and PDP rigging machine will fail in the year 2015" |
The Peoples Democratic Party has challenged the All Progressives Congress to come out clear and explain to Nigerians the links between it and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, which informs and propels its interest in his stay in office.PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said it was more than curious that the APC has continued to fabricate stories and show undue interest in Jega, adding that such raise a lot of questions for the opposition and the INEC Chairman. He said, “Undoubtedly, the frenzy, hysteria and spate with which the APC has been inventing stories regarding Prof. Jega’s stay in office, even when nothing suggests that such was on the table, raise a lot of issues.“We ask, is there any underlining issue or arrangement between APC and Prof. Jega which the opposition is hell-bent to protect, informing its anxiety and apprehension towards his stay in office?“While it is noted that the APC is a party of one week, one lie, we in the PDP look beneath the surfaces to the deeper issues propelling the lies.“We therefore challenge the APC to come out clean and tell Nigerians the real reason behind their false alarms and uncontrolled nervousness regarding Prof. Jega ahead of the 2015 general elections.“Finally, we wish to remind the leadership of INEC that Nigerians are monitoring its activities and series of unfolding political events ahead of the elections, and will not accept anything less than the conduct of credible, free and fair general elections come March 28 and April 11, 2015.” http://www.punchng.com/news/why-dont-you-want-jega-sacked-pdp-asks-apc/ |
