I have a thousand and one reasons to do otherwise, & to support GMB15 (irrespective of what happens on NL) to bring the change that is badly needed in Nigeria.

Shame on those who (eat their vomit and) pledge their support to Jonathan for no reason other than stomach infrastructure and "some form of security"!

Having successfully destroying PDP. OBJ must be enjoying all the political affection and attention he is getting at the moment. I am just worried that OBJ and Tinubu who couldn't see eye to eye a few years ago are now best of pals singing the same song and somehow Atiku and OBJ, two sworn enemies are in the same camp endorsing a man they jointly defeated in the 2003 polls. I am confused about this kind of change where corrupt ex presidents and VP implicated in the Haliburton scam are also shouting corruption. The same Haliburton scandal that fetched a US congressman jail time. I can still stomach Buhari but the presence of these guys back in the presidency makes me jittery: Atiku, OBJ and Tinubu all in one group. Beware of this sophisticated pimps. I believe they joined the change train to protect their investments and interest. Nigerians shine your eyes, this isn't change, this is continuation. This is the reason we must be careful about politician, they become united when they smell power and money. Our participation is all they need not our contribution.
Buhari though disciplined to an extent cannot do it alone at that age. Nigeria is a lot more volatile and complex than what it used to be in the early 80s. These are the guys to advice him and place people into positions that matter. May we eventually get the change we actually wished for. Before you join them in heating up the polity ensure you get a guarantee from them that they, their children, wives, friends who have benefited from them would be the first line of defence while we follow from a distance. If they are so passionate about this democracy and want to show their full commitment then they must lead by example starting from the battle field. Since they love us so much then they must show it first by leading any protest that may occur as a result of any anomalies from the forthcoming election. Jonathan might join APC tomorrow and he would be welcomed with pomp and pageantry. Do not lose sleep or your life over them, they are only doing their jobs. Remember 3 million people died in the Civil war, there are no monuments to even recognise or appreciate the blood they sacrificed for Nigeria which unfortunately is still a country not a nation. The seams joining us are bursting at the hems due to the magnanimity and genourosity of our politician preaching division and hate. Please protect your life. Do not promote or encourage violence, Nigerians will suffer most.

PoliticsWHY PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF BUHARI - OSINBANJO by midolian(op): 10:15pm On Feb 17, 2015
Vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, said many people are afraid of his principal, Muhammadu Buhari, because they know he would not tolerate corruption if elected into office.

Osinbajo stated this in Enugu at a town hall meeting with youths drawn from the five states of the Southeast

Osinbajo listed power, corruption, poor governance, law and order and enabling business environment, as big issues the APC government will address.

He explained that the difference between corruption in other countries and Nigeria is that in our own case, it tries to destroy the nation, warning: “If we don’t elect a government that would stop corruption, then it would stop us.

“The N10 billion missing in NNPC would provide 10 years of basic healthcare services to Nigerians.”

All money accruing to government are in private pockets.

“I will tell you why many people are afraid of Buhari. Many people know he will not tolerate corruption. If we don’t elect government that will stop corruption, it will stop us.

“If we deal with corruption, it will solve a lot of problems. Some people are wondering how we will cope with the drop in oil prices. The issue is not drop in oil prices. The issue is mismanagement,” Osinbajo stated.

He assured that an APC government would create the right business environment and address infrastructure deficits in the country if elected into office

Osinbajo explained that APC would tackle unemployment through relevant education, establishment of energy academy, direct creation of jobs by government and provision of tax incentives to employers of labour.

He said they would create technology incubation centres across the country to learn technology and how to use it for creation of applications

He assured that other energy options are going to be developed, including coal so that they could be used as alternative sources of energy.

Other APC chieftains at the meeting included former Governor of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige, former Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, Abike Dabiri, APC governorship candidate in Enugu State, Okey Ezea and running mate, Juliet Ibekaku.

PoliticsLawyer Sues Mbu, Wants Him Dismissed by midolian(op): 7:48pm On Feb 17, 2015
A Lagos-based lawyer, Tope Alabi, has urged a Federal High Court in Lagos to strip Joseph Mbu, the controversial Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, of his police rank and declare his office vacant.

In a suit FHC/L/CS/149/15, Mr. Alabi is seeking a declaration that Mr. Mbu, the first defendant, has abused his office and is unfit to be a police officer.

“It is in the interest of justice to declare the first defendant unfit to be and to remain a police officer in Nigeria, considering his public conduct all the time and to declare his position and seat vacant and a replacement made without delay,” Mr. Alabi said in his court papers.

A date is yet to be fixed for hearing.

Mr. Mbu, the newly posted AIG in charge of Zone 2, rose to infamy for his unguarded utterances as well as his recent clashes with politicians, civil society activists, and journalists.

Last week, while addressing police officers of the Ogun State Command, Mr. Mbu instructed them to be battle-ready to return “fire for fire” against politicians during the elections.

“If one of my men is killed, I shall kill 20 of them but don’t shoot first. If they shoot you, shoot back in self-defence. Anybody who fires you, fire him back in self-defence,” Mr. Mbu said.

In 2014, the #BringBackOurGirls protesters in Abuja slammed a N200 million damage suit against the Nigeria Police after Mr. Mbu banned their daily sit-ins to demand the release of the kidnapped Chibok girls.

The police hierarchy promptly reversed the ban and the suit was dropped.

Also, in 2014, Mr. Mbu detained and arraigned a journalist before a Magistrate for branding him ‘controversial’ during a TV programme.

The magistrate struck out the charges.

In 2013, while the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mr. Mbu engaged in frequent verbal clashes with Rotimi Amaechi, the state governor, with the latter accusing him of an assassination plot.

Mr. Alabi said these acts by a serving police officer are enough to declare his office vacant and replaced “without further delay.”

Joined in the suit before the Lagos court are the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, the Police Service Commission and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, as the second to fourth defendants.

As a senior police officer, according to Mr. Alabi, Mr. Mbu swore to uphold to the rule of law and abide by the Constitution, but has allegedly been behaving as if he is above the law.

“A prayer urging the court to determine whether Mbu is fit and proper to remain in office considering his controversial utterances and ‘his public misconduct,’ and whether the lives of Nigerians are not in danger as long as Mbu remains in office,” Mr. Alabi stated in his court filings.

The lawyer also wants the court to hold that Mr. Mbu’s threat, last week, is beyond his powers and therefore in breach of Section 308 (1) (b) of the 1999 Constitution.

Mr. Alabi also wants a declaration that his life and those of other Nigerians are in danger as long as Mr. Mbu remains in office, and that their rights cannot be guaranteed unless Mr. Mbu is removed.

Mr. Mbu had also told his men to arrest any erring governor before, during, or after the election.

The lawyer urged the court to stop Mr. Mbu from giving that order in line with Section 308 (1) (b) of the 1999 Constitution.

He also prayed for an order of perpetual injunction restraining Mr. Mbu from giving any orders during the March 28 and April 11 general elections.

Mr. Alabi said Mr. Mbu has no powers under the law to personally kill or direct officers under his control to kill innocent Nigerians in retaliation should any officer be attacked.

According to him, by Mr. Mbu’s utterance, he has chosen to flout the laws he swore to uphold as his statement is “capable of inciting mass killings, violence and anarchy”.

Mr. Alabi recalled that Mr. Mbu served in Rivers State and in the Federal Capital Territory where he continued to violate the Constitution by exhibiting “intolerant and unlawful” behaviour.

The lawyer also noted that the Inspector-General of Police’s distancing of himself from Mr. Mbu’s latest utterance by reiterating that the mandate of the police is to “save and protect lives and not to kill” is a testament of his over-reaching of his powers.

How does mere political appointments affect the entire igbos in the SE? Where was your brain manufactured? I would rather the federal government develope the east infrastructurally with good roads, international seaport and trade zones than have tens of political appointments awarded to Igbos who would be serving Nigerians with her portfolio and not necessarily developing the east infrastructurally and otherwise.

MIND YOU IS NOT ABOUT TRIBE OR ETHNIC BUT ABOUT GOOD GOVERNANCE. AN HAUSA MAN IS HAPPY THAT DANGOTE IS THE RICHEST MAN IN AFRICA, AN HAUSA MAN IS HAPPY THAT IS BROTHER OWNS 85% OF OIL BLOCKS IN NIGERIA, AN HAUSA MAN IS HAPPY THAT IS BROTHER IS OCCUPYING THE POSITION OF NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER, DEFENCE MINISTER, but did you ever heard them criticising for the ineffective system of fighting the insurgence or criticising their top shut in government and private sector for the economy backwardness of the north? No, because jonathan is the president, for example, all the electoria commision chairmen in the past are from the south, immediately they made one miss-calculation every section of nigeria society will be calling for their sack, but in the north is a different case that's when they will rally round to say that they are witch-hunting hausas, have you ever asked yourself why they don't they don't want jonathan?....
yea..the issue of blaming jonathan for everything is expected...now bro, you must know one thing that as a leader, if any success is experienced in your regime, you take the praises and if otherwise, you take the blame. Many things have gone wrong under GEJ's leadership and I am sure you can see that too.. GEJ is rejected at the moment, not because he is an Ijaw man, buh because he has failed to carry out his duties as the head. I am Nupe by tribe and I voted for GEJ in 2011 but now, I regret so badly..

YOU SEE THIS IS MY 20TH YEAR IN KANO, HAVE COME TO UNDERSTAND THE HAUSAS WITH THEIR MENTALITY AND WAY OF REASONING, AN AVERAGE HAUSA CAN REJOICE FOR A THOUSAND YEAR CELEBRATING HIS BROTHER FOR OCCUPYING A POSITION, BUT WILL FAIL TO CALL THEIR BROTHER TO ACCOUNTABILITY OR PRESSURE HIM TO DO THE RIGHT THING, NOT UNTIL ANOTHER PERSON FROM ANOTHER ETHNIC GROUP THEY WILL NOW REALISE THAT THEY'VE BEEN SUFFERING ALL THESE WHILE....
yea I understand you bro..buh its everywhere. "You don't cut off your hand because its infeccted with rashes"..if you observe well, pple hav never yearned for Buhari this way b4. This is because GEJ has failed and its obvious he will continue failing. You see this issue of insecurity and corruption is at a galloping level now and if we don't take time, it will consume us all..just as my uncle once told me, "if you see the beard of a broda caught up in flames, water yours for the flames may soon reach you"..what is happening in the north might just be the beginning. Who knows where it will end? Buhari is just a one in a million politician. Trust me, he ll tackle these problems. Forgt the pple he is surrounded with. He won't hesitate to deal with them when they misbehave.
