Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) on Friday gave the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, notice to quit the government house by 2023. The quit notice was given over the governor’s plan to return schools to missionaries which was announced yesterday. The quit notice was contained in a press statement issued by the director of MURIC. The statement read, “Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State yesterday announced his plan to return public schools to missionaries. We receive this announcement with a pinch of salt. It is a blow below the belt. It is arbitrary, a betrayal of trust, and a most provocative move. Coming at a time Muslim liberation struggle is at its peak, the move is most unwise, audacious, and insensitive. It had better not be. Makinde should perish the thought. “The governor is acting the script written by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). It will fail. Those schools are our common patrimony. He cannot give them out just like that after the government has spent billions of Oyo State taxpayers’ money on adding more, renovating, purchasing equipment and maintaining the infrastructure, paying teachers’ salaries, etc for more than 50 years. “The idea is to perpetuate the suppression of Muslim children in public schools by claiming that the schools belong to missionaries. These are neo-imperialists seeking all means to remain relevant, powerful, and dominant. “Yet the so-called missionary schools were built on land belonging to our Muslim forefathers who were deceived by the Christian colonialists into giving out the land ‘gratis’ in most cases. Apart from the land which was given free, our Muslim forefathers also paid tax into the coffers of the colonialists to build the schools. Nobody should try to pull the wool over our eyes. The difference between the colonial government and the missionaries is like six and half dozen. Peter was robbed to pay Paul. The colonialists collected our hard-earned money and gave the missionaries. “It was the mother of all treacheries when the colonialists gave the schools missionary names after completing the buildings. Not only that, they turned round to bite the finger that fed them by rejecting Muslim children who refused to change their names to Christian nomenclatures. Majority of the Muslims had to succumb. Thus Abdul Rasheed became Richard, Yusuf became Joseph, Ishaq became Isaac and Maryam became Mary. “Anybody who observes the trajectory of Makinde’s administration will know that he came with the sole agenda of subjugating Muslims in Oyo State to the whims and caprices of CAN. But the Muslims of Oyo State will resist this with every legitimate means at their disposal. “There must be consequences for irresponsible and reckless leadership. There will be peaceful rallies and protests until Makinde rescinds his decision. The Muslim youths in the state have taken Makinde’s plan to return schools to missionaries as a confrontation. Already, the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has fired the first salvo. Makinde has miscalculated. He assumes that his very few contract-seeking Muslim business partners control the Muslim community of Oyo State. He will soon know the truth. “Makinde is in the habit of snatching from the Muslims what belongs to them. Yet he wants Muslims in the state to continue to cooperate with his administration. He lives in self-delusion with his divide et impera as he hoodwinks an infinitesimal minority of Muslim dealers and ignores the real Muslim leaders. With this ill-advised announcement, he has betrayed those few stomach-infrastructure Muslim dealers who always claimed they needed to be near the governor. “Makinde will soon know his fate. Muslims will teach him an electoral lesson. We expect Oyo governors to take a cue from what happened to Bola Ige in 1983. Nobody plays with Muslim interest in Oyo State and gets away with it. “Makinde started by toying with the Hijrah holiday which his Muslim predecessor (ex-governor Ajimobi) gave us. He also refused to issue any circular on hijab to date. He marooned his Muslim deputy governor for three good years until the latter was eventually impeached and replaced with a Muslim-by-name deputy. Seyi Makinde’s anti-Muslim agenda cannot stomach the idea of a genuine Muslim deputy governor. “We hereby give the ‘Eleyi of Agodi’ notice to quit Agodi Government House come 29th May, 2023. The Muslim dealers masquerading as Muslim leaders and romancing with our traducers for contracts will not be able to save him. Makinde’s days in the government house are numbered. He has murdered sleep. From this day to 29th May, 2023, Makinde shall sleep no more. We advise him to start loading his backpack with his most essential commodities from today. “MURIC calls on Muslims in Oyo State to possess their possessions. We shall all face Allah Yawm al-Qiyamah to report what we did for Islam and the Muslims. How did we meet the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) and how did we leave it? It is time for Oyo Muslims to decide whether they want freedom or slavery. Those who do not respect and preserve our spiritual heritage must not be allowed to rule us. Makinde must not be allowed to stay in Agodi Government House a day beyond 29th May, 2023.” https://dailypost.ng/2022/08/05/return-of-schools-to-missionaries-you-shall-sleep-no-more-islamic-group-gives-gov-makinde-quit-notice/?amp=1 |
Well, not good news but they all contributed to ow we find ourselves here. The bandits should just strategise properly & face the øløtęs. Àgbà tí kò kę'hun sørø yo kę'tan sáré. |
So sad ![]() See what they've turned Christianity to. No problem sa, na small time remain. |
Splitmind:... so that gives them d right to maltreat anyone, a fello w uniform man, even to d extent of killing him. I fear for this ur mentality o |
Kokoebapluse:Oh,d ones in KG1,2&co write exams too, so they're also grown. |
Shascky33:And do you know the number of them suffering&living with VVF (vesicovaginal fistula)?
|
Kokoebapluse:Really? Wow! So ur 10yr old in pry 5 or so can take life decisions ![]() I give up! |
godofuck231:Oh! I see ... so according to u, these our 8, 9, 10, 11 &so on yr old baby girls already seeing their periods av become women. |
ArewaNorth:Ok, they justified dt; d rail track terminates at d border. Right? Now it's #1.4b worth of vehicles for Nigerien security when our very own house is up in flames. No wahala, everyday for the thief ... |
Geeworldwide:We may nt be better than them but they're puppets of d callous govt. They shield d bandits, fulanis &co. So we're in this together. |
kernniejay:You're right, there won't be any elections! |
sammysneh:They shield fulanis. I rem vividly how they led a troop of fulani with their cows to ravage d farmlands of a town&beat up their king in ogun state cos d fulanis had earlier been repelled by d ppl. |
Axis313:Most public schools started from churches&we all knw Christian missionaries brought western education; if u attended any of those, no way u wld escape d clapping &Bible classes. Well, d very few Muslims we'd then enjoyed it all with us& ddnt stop them from being muslims. Those who cldnt cope withdrew to attend d few muslim schools springing up. As for d devotions in govt establishments, u probably can't stand ur ground enough. I am a CHRISTIAN &never attend any of such in my over 10yrs in public service. I blankly told them I wouldn't be a party cos they're using part of d time they'd be paid for to attend to other things, wch is religion dt shd be practiced on weekends &after work. Same way I frown at colleagues who chant 'salat' to each other during working hours. I don't talk tho, cos I try nt to stir any controversial religious topics. |
wirinet:I doubt d court can help if it's private and conditions spelt out bf agreeing to be employed. |
Traplord09:Yes o, another civil war. There won't be any elections nxt yr. I normally wldnt like to comment on topics like this but then I'm tempted. As for one commener abt muslim pupils being forced to clap, read d Bible, etc in pry schl., Y didn't they attend core muslim Schools? Ow many secular public schools were founded by muslims then?at d inception of Western education, d schls were right in d churches; so u beef d church, then no schl. Don't know his generation but even in our time, there were hardly muslim kids in schools even. The few dt went to schl patronized d st.Peter, st.John, etc. So Y wldnt u clap&sing? Throughout my pry scl days, we'd abt 2/3 muslims in my classes out of >40 pupils. |
Kelvinnchucks:When ppl with great marriages come out, it's d same world ppl dt will castigate them &fault d 'secret' of their success, calling them liars. It cld also be an invitation to 'devils' who are allergic to good things. They'd rather steer clear. |
budaatum:Wow! Great! Thanks so much. Maybe I'm not really expressing myself well enough bt I don't want to reveal too much. Personally, I try&to God's glory, very few ppl (let me say clients) are changing. But I used d word "rotten" cos of my work environment where one wld believe to see d best of intellectuals&virtue-laden folks bt it's d opposite. They're prolly d worst set of nigerians I've seen cos they complain abt d state of d country but their xter is contrary to ameliorating issues. I keep trying but they're nt helping matters cos d "clients" see them as superior, so ppl like us don't matter much. However, some of them av no choice when they need help around me tho&thru dt, I spell d rules. E.g. go back to pick dt litter before I attend to u. I also think that punitive measures will compel more ppl to do d right things &refrain from wrongdoings; my reason for always mentioning 'restructuring'. It is well. |
DenreleDave:Oga mi, u too much. Roasted sawa is bae with bread or in yam stew. |
budaatum:Hmmm... thought provoking but how many more nigerians can I/you convince when d majority are "rotten". I know what I experience d times I try to (e.g.) dissuade ppl from littering d roads/streets, same with my siblings &other like-minded ppl cos we share similar values. Anyway, it doesn't stop me tho. People know me for my principles at work. I'm still optimistic. |
budaatum:. |
budaatum:I understand u fully well but who stops the mediocrity - either by halting d pay of d idle or whatever? What do our leaders "get paid" for? Dt's why I keep hoping "restructuring" does it when it eventually happens. I'm optimistic! |
