If you want to get design for the entire project at the beginning, you may spend a lot of time on design when you could easily begin and close off m the Lagos to Ondo axis which are less challenging.

Theoretically speaking, you may sound correct. But that is where the problem is coming from.
It is better to do the design for the entire project first; and have a complete picture of all the potential issues, challenges, requirements, costs etc.
There is no need to rush if the goal is to serve the nation because any other govt can also come and continue even if this govt is unable to finish it.

The absence of a comprehensive design (before the award of the project), is why they are now trying to adjust the route as a result of difficult terrain. This would have been discovered and addressed at the the design stage.
Now, what they doing is to get onto the site, do a design for 45-50km and build. Then they do another design for the next section 40-50km and build. So they are doing piecemeal design and build. This creates huge problems and makes the project cost, timeline, etc. unpredictable.

A comprehensive engineering design should have captured the full scope of the project; and the costing. The costing determines the total amount to be be spent, which will then be split into what can be accommodated annually in the national budget over the lifetime of the project.
Any amount to be spent in a year should have been captured in the national budget.
That is the correlation between engineering design, costing and the national budget (as far as the project is concerned)
There is no lie in what I said.

I think Access can only clear those issues effectively in 2027. And their performance will be very good
Proceeds from the disposal/divestment of thieir stake in some foreign subsidiaries may be distributed as special dividends.
So watch out for Access especially in 2027! I don't expect much in 2026

The ongoing Israeli military operation in Hebron has so far displaced 1,500 Palestinians from their homes, according to local reports, with the army said to be planning to order the evacuation of another 2,500 people from their homes.

According to the WAFA news agency, citing Hebron’s governor, the operation has already displaced more than 200 families since yesterday. The Hebron governate has declared a state of emergency in the city and is forming a crisis management committee to assist displaced families, the report says.

Dozens of families were forced to spend last night outside, WAFA adds.

Hebron Mayor Youssef al-Jaabari tells WAFA that Israeli forces are seeking to displace another 2,500 people from two areas in the city.

The operation comes a day after two IDF soldiers were killed in a shooting attack carried out by Palestinian gunmen from the city.

The IDF did not immediately comment on the reported evacuations, but has said that the operation in Hebron is “focused and limited to the area from which the terrorists operated,” and is expected to last several days.

Palestinian residents living in the area where the troops were operating will be able to leave through three designated exit points, following questioning and security checks, the army said yesterday, adding that “anyone who raises suspicion during the checks will be taken for questioning by security forces.”

I now fully understand that most Nigerians have a comprehension problem. There is a huge difference between having no engineering design at all and not having a single comprehensive design capturing the entire project. What is available, rather, is a section-by-section engineering design.

Their Agulu Messiah is busy jumping from one party to another, serving party jollof rice. No single campaign plan for what to do to make a difference. This is the Coronation Insurance situation. They are moving to buy out minority shareholders. In my view, this sends a terrible signal and could breed lethargy among the very retail investors that the government, SEC, and NGX are working so hard to attract.

If you cannot obey the regulatory workload and scrutiny that comes with being a public company, why come out in the first place?

If you need to increase your stake, why not initiate a share buyback to enhance share value and company valuation?

If you suddenly have more money, why not use it to expand the business or enhance shareholder value?

That is what Norway did with their oil and gas money. It is exactly why most of us are angry with our past leaders. They had the same resources, but instead of building a generational wealth fund, they squandered it.

They will still do same today and tomorrow whenever money accrues into the so called ''excess crude account''. The law has not been abolished!

That is how Nigeria made so much money in the early 1970s and we decided to award some irrational, reckless bonus to people and they used it to buy colour tv, motorcycle, sound systems, cars, marry more wives etc. All those things must have gone bad, damaged or destroyed now.
