Yes, if there is no LMIA and you are applying under FSW, you must provide POF because you do not have a qualifying job offer. LMIA also gives you 50 extra points.

If you are applying under CEC (which based on your posts you are not) then you do not have to provide proof of funds. In your case, you have to provide proof of funds. That your wife is working in Canada does not automatically mean she is exempt from POF.
I think she is qualify for CEC she has both Canadian education and work experience. Her job is also NOC B which she has been doing for over a year. I just submitted the profile yesterday night and it shows both FSW and CEC were met. Are we good to go sir/ma without the proof of fund?

joo2018:
A valid job offer under FSW means a job offer obtained with a LMIA.

The rank of priority for the 3 Express Entry programs is: CEC, FSW and FST.

The case OP has already stated that the PA is authorized to work in Canada and with her Canadian education she qualifies for CEC.

Under CEC, she only needs to have obtained the work experience legally.

Proof of funds is only for FSW and FST.

Have you guys gotten ITA or not? Under what class of Express Entry is the ITA- FSW or CEC?
ITA is sure our CRS score is 472 and it FSW Class. We plan to apply immediately after getting the ITA that’s the reason for my questions.

This is incorrect please.

A valid job offer under Express Entry means a job offer obtained with an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment). Did your wife's company get an LMIA when employing her? If not, then her job does not satisfy the criteria of a valid job offer. To know if she does, she will have an LMIA number given to her by her employer.

The only reason she won't need to show proof of funds is if she is applying under CEC or her employer obtained an LMIA when employing her.

People working in Canada usually have issues with this question. I know people who have been rejected because they answered yes to 'do you have a job offer in Canada. Technically they do, but under CIC rules, they don't.
seriously!!! In other words, if the employer does not issue LMIA when employing her it means we have to provide proof of fund?

She must be both authorized to work and have a valid job offer in Canada to be exempted from POF.

"You don’t need to show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family to meet the program requirements of the Canadian Experience Class (this includes provincial nominees who are part of the CEC stream).

Note that you do not need proof of funds if you are currently:

authorized to work in Canada and
have a valid job offer"

she is currently working and has been o the job for over a year and not a contract job it’s a full time job... where is the job offer comes in here ? Abi which one is job offer again please explain. Thank you.

Please, has CIC stopped attending to Nigeria SOWP applications?
Why have they refused to attend to applications submitted since May/June?
Or are they planning to carry it over to next year as the year is already running to an end?
What crime have we committed to deserve this long wait?
June 14th.........still on background check
Honestly I don’t understand what’s happening even when the processing time was 33weeks last year people are still getting updates on time . I applied May 5th and no update since then still on background check. Let’s just hope for the best and pray we hear positive feedback from them.

Please I will like to know while attaching documents like WAEC result, B.Sc statement of result, marriage certificate etc how do u do it?

If you are submitting via paper root do u attach original or photocopied certificate, will the document be returned after one is granted visa?
photocopies is all that you need you don’t have to submit the original copies.you can have them notarize if you have time.

Long post alert!!!

So my canny journey started in 2016, please see my TL below.

First app: SOWP

Applied, August 2016 and refused September 2016 (paper)

Husband NOC: C

Second app: visit

Applied October 2016 and refused November 2016 (paper)

NOC was updated from C to B (2017 Long story of preparation)

Third app: SOWP

Applied January 19, 2018 and Refused February 24, 2018. (Paper)

Fourth app: SOWP

This application came with a lot of surprises.

Online route
Applied: February 26, 2018
Biometrics: February 28
Upfront medical updated: March 29
Approval and ppt request: October 19 (33weeks)
Ppt submitted: October 22 (the rest is history).

After using the whole of my family's documents in my previous apps, I decided to go for @dodoyemi's formula (by just using the required docs stated online), the statement we submitted was 3 months old and I uploaded it in a very scattered manner. When we started getting worried, I submitted CSE and got a response from Lagos embassy, hubby called IRCC and he was informed that the app was in London (U.K), I sent them a mail and was told "under active review". After 4 weeks hubby sent a mail to London but Lagos replied, my last mail to London two weeks later was very long and should have pushed any angry VO to make a decision because at that point i gave up hope and just wanted them to either reject or approve the app but i got the same one lined response. Eitherways, I was already preparing for EE.

Hubby submitted our EE profile on October 16, we were hoping to meet the October 17 draw, only for CIC to have conducted the draw on the 15th and the approval message came to my profile on October 19. Are this preparations tied? (I'm still trying to phantom the psychology of IRCC). Plus hubby's work permit expires January (due to passport expiry) and CIC issued me a 2 months visa till January (I'm still surprised).

A lot of intertwined stories but as always God is still on the throne....@dodoyemi thank you for everything.

My one penny to spouses of workers on here is that;

1.) IRCC's priorities are students and PR applicants (if I had known this, I won't be in this country by now instead of all d shakers I gave)

2.) Please start something towards EE, a step in the right direction is better than no step.

Abeg I they go pack my bag before dem change their mind.

Taink you and all the best to everyone.

woooowww...I am super happy for you. Your effort paid off finally. Go and flourish in Canny land and Amen to the prayer.

This is not to dash anyone's hope but since I have dotted my Is and crossed my Ts. Let me drop my timeline.
Applied: Feb 26
Biometrics: Feb 28
Medical passed: Mar 29 (upfront)
Final decision: ...............................

I once said that they were responding to spouses of students faster, someone contradicted me. I think that's what it looks like now. They just want workers to apply for EE straight up.

NB: I have contacted them severally

My 2 cents
lord Jesus! This one is deep. I kind of agree to this sha because from the trend in here, most of us with spouse of work permit holder are the ones experiencing this processing delay. I hope they do something fast about it because the waiting is killing mehn. It will end in praise for us all.

Definitely on the right thread. Waiting is not easy, but still keep faith alive! Mine is 6 month (April 3rd) and still no news, tough medical passed. I pray our expectations all come to fulfillment soonest.

In my opinion, for those who is about to apply for SOWP, I feel they should consider applying for Visiting visa and get their open work permit when they land as long as they can fulfil the requirements for it. Its takes a short time duration and one will still arrive at the same result.

From recent experience, my sister-in-law applied for visiting in may, she landed and after awhile went back to the airport(point of entry) to get her work permit. Another person share the same news too, she had a visiting visa, got married, travelled with the husband back to CA and got work permit too.

Wished I knew about that route earlier than this SOWP route. Tough I will still say some people are luck and still get SOWP approval in a short while, but from statistics on this thread it usually far exceed the processing time stated.

I pray God to open a book of remembrance on our applications and favour it with approvals in Jesus name. Amen

Amen to the prayers. Please were you called medicals or you did upfront medical?
