villa for torres?
If torres scores now(if he will), then He will take the shine off all the good work villa has done momentarily, such is life.

All of you shouting fabrigas, now you see why a good coach won't want to use him on a big day like this. Villa was very, very free but he chose to go for personal glory.

The dutch defending well now. This must be a real frustrating nite for the spaniards. Anybody scores now, that will be it. I see this going down as one of the most boring final in a WC.

See that plastic-faced iniesta going all the way to dribble keeper, lines man and camera men when he sholda shot that ball like yesterday. shocked shocked

Naughty man

Come to think of it, I started supporting Uruguay from their first game in this tourney because of the way they played and have kept faith with them irrespective of that silly/dubious Suarez hand of His god.

Uruguay have impressed me overall and especially Forlan who came in here with un-assuming profile and have left tonight with his head high un-like the other over-hyped players who left SA earlier than expected with their heads hanging down.

Octopus Paul UGLY  is just some demonised creature trying to impose itself  on football and I will not give it any of my precious credit.

Both teams have played well tonight and we may have seen "the final of finals" like they say in terms of good football. I can't bet on any entertaining football tomorrow as both teams might be playing too cautiously because of the gold cup at stake. I see spain starting with their typical touch-touch football but the dutch will run at them ceaselessly if that happens.

Expect  alot of calls in favor of Spain too as they will be falling all over the place in reaction to the power play of the dutch. It will be tight but on the night it will go to the team that will risk changing game plans in the middle of play to match the quality of opposition they come against. Any form of lithurgic traditional kind of mind-set might not win the game for both countries. I hope I'm wrong though so I can apologise after the match tomorrow.
Guys, here is what I posted yesterday, so I'm not expecting so much in this game in terms of fluidity or entertainment.
SportsRe: Spain Vs Netherlands: 1 - 0 @ World Cup 2010 Final by mikeoscar: 8:15pm On Jul 11, 2010
Webb is confused
He's not sure what happened.
These refs need some help. . . .
The game moves too fast
I think webb is doing a good job giving the tempo of the game and they kinds of fouls we've seen so far. He will also be looking at stamping himself otherwise some players will get away with many intentional fouls.

 Half-time buddy.

@mama-gee,
Your dutch boys are the ones dulling this game now oh!  grin

Yet you said spain was boring. Tell your orange boys to play footie and not the spanish legs.

SportsRe: Spain Vs Netherlands: 1 - 0 @ World Cup 2010 Final by mikeoscar: 7:52pm On Jul 11, 2010
I predicted yesterday, that we might just have seen the final of finals in that 3rd place match. 4yellow cards in 23minutes does not tell me we will have it smooth unless something changes in this match. oh, robben down again but ignored by webb this time.
SportsRe: Spain Vs Netherlands: 1 - 0 @ World Cup 2010 Final by mikeoscar: 7:45pm On Jul 11, 2010
o.k. yes, robben is in now, he just dashed , puyol a yellow. Robben will teach the spaniard how to fall today grin grin

SportsRe: Spain Vs Netherlands: 1 - 0 @ World Cup 2010 Final by mikeoscar: 7:40pm On Jul 11, 2010
Villa just anounced his presence after 8minutes.

Somehow, I still want spain to win because of the way they play (apart from the pass, pass, touch, touch game). That is not happening so much yet though.

Ah, villa again '11minutes. The boy want to suck orange grin grin
SportsRe: Spain Vs Netherlands: 1 - 0 @ World Cup 2010 Final by mikeoscar: 7:33pm On Jul 11, 2010
if any body read my post at the end of yesterday's 3rd place match, you will see that spain is already acting out the script. Fall, fall and fall until webb says it's enough. pass, pass, pass, be patient, pass again, wait Ramos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and what a save.

3 free kicks awarded to spain in less than 3.5minutes.
SportsRe: Spain Vs Netherlands: 1 - 0 @ World Cup 2010 Final by mikeoscar: 3:24pm On Jul 11, 2010
Hooray. Spain should start popping the champagnes then.
Absolutely, they should not even play the match may be they should go take a walk in the game park feeding monkeys,  lions etc for 90mins and return to  take the cup wink wink.
I have no mercy for that Silly Octopusdiot putting undue pressure on this gameangry angry

Less than 5mins. The Nigerian gets a yellow. He either gets taken out early by his coach or by a RED.

For me it's Uruguay all the way because of that squid.

PoliticsRe: 2011 Presidency: Momodou Or Okotie? by mikeoscar: 10:09pm On Jul 08, 2010
My preferred candidate would be Donald Duke. I witnessed the transformation of Cross River state during his tenure. For me, the next president should be an individual that has demonstrated his proficiency at the national or state levels.

Here are my opinions about the names on the list;

Pat Utomi: His experience in the corporate world via Volkswagen Nigeria, while useful, does not demonstrate adequate administrative ability as the organization failed while he was at the helm. Still, his credibility is unquestionable and having him as president would guaranty a change in direction for Nigeria.

Dele Momodu: Unlike several other people, I do not hold running Ovation against him. Rather, it demonstrates his ability to identify and make use of opportunities even in challenging situations. This is a trait that the next Nigerian president cannot do without. Still, his sub-par articles for Thisday as well as his annoying name dropping do not endear me to him. I cannot honestly say that he strikes me as having the character and vision required to be our commander-in-chief.

Chris Okotie: Many have castigated him simply for being a pastor. This is simply wrong. The fact that he is a man of the cloth (kinda) does not mean that his aspirations need remail in that area only. He has been an outspoken critic of bad governance for several years and has been actively involved in community service via his church, The Household of God. To his credit, he is eloquent and adept at communicating ideas. This is an invaluable ability in a country like Nigeria where IBB has been described as a charismatic leader. I would love to hear Okotie address the UN as president of Nigeria and I am sure that many on this forum would as well, even if only to experience the grammatical onslaught that he would unleash.
Still, it must be said that his administrative abilities have not been proven on a national or even state level. HIs church does not have branches as far as I know and it is likely that as president he will be unable to hit the ground running. His party will also face the challenges that every "regional" part does and this is a minus.

IBB: Anyone who votes for IBB is either suffering from Amnesia, has been bribed or is guilty of gross and unforgivable ignorance.

Goodluck Honathan: His actions since becoming president have sometimes appeared to be impulsive and improperly informed. In addition, he is a part of the PDP. By default, I will not vote for anyone that flies the PDP flag. Still, he has displayed the admirable quality of being a good listener. Nigerian leaders are known for turning a deaf ear to their followers or not having ears at all. I would prefer that he ensures that INEC conducts a credible election ad thus leaves his footprints in the sands of Nigeria's time. One year in office is enough for this perhaps well meaning but unelected president and his party. The PDP has to go!

In all, I would like to see a series of debates where these candidates would face off against each other. A scenario where different experts constitute a panel that poses relevant questions would be ideal. What plans do they have for diversifying Nigeria's economy and moving away from a crude oil centered economic policy? How do they plan to tackle the infrastructure challenges that their predecessors have failed to deal with? What is their position on the Constitution and making the necessary amendments? Can they outline their plans for building or repairing the Nigerian identity at home and abroad? And finally, how do they intend to solve the problem of the absence of a national identification scheme that allows for up to date information on the citizens and resident of Nigeria?

People, I hope that our election year will bring great surprises
Very matured, articulate, Objective, and devoid of the sort of prejudice, image smearing and sentimentalism that characterise many Nairaland fora . You've earned my respect here and I 'll be watching your space. Be blessed.
PoliticsRe: 2011 Presidency: Momodou Or Okotie? by mikeoscar: 9:36pm On Jul 08, 2010
Pat Utomi  ##Not so popular. Not a really tested administrator. The Volkswagen collapse is a test case
Dele Momodou ## No Chance. Dele can sell his children cos of money and popularity. He is an owanbe man like Alao-Akala.
Kris Okotie ## He is a confused joker. No chance. He needs to seek the face of God first.
IBB## Wicked and mean. His only obstacle is GEJ
Goodluck Jonathan ## May eventually win, but may beat OBJ's record in terms of ineptitude and lack of vision
It's not that I don't have issues with your perception of the other Gentlemen, but to say that Obj was inept and lacked vision is nothing but a sweeping unsubstantiated/tested statement . Think again my brother. We may not have liked some of his policies or his person or temperament but I think He deserves better than you 're handing him unless you can come-up with yard-sticks, facts and figures, o.k.
