DMerciful: Why are you arguing with known facts? One of the demerits of socialism is breeding of laziness! When wealth is distributed based on population rather that income generation what do you expect? For your info, kano has more fed allocation than Lagos! Can you imagine this abberation? Yes socialism is not an optimum solution. I personally detest it. But we do not have socialism. We have a mixed system. All systems except Cuba and North Korea are mixed. So where are our capitalists (apart from dangote and Otedola, innoson dem) What stops you from entering the farm and planting Palm oil. (imagine 1 million jobless youth planting Palm oil) fear no go catch Malaysia? No they all want to drink Moet and Chandon in the club. But will you, I don't think so. No you'd rather point at blame somebody else. Same way you will blame something else when you get the regionalism. |
Politics › Re: True Federalism, Its Advantages And Implications. by mikolo80: 12:51am On Jun 14, 2016 |
oweniwe: You are wrong sir...
No I am not
There are some things called "Federal Exclusive " list....
I know
Power, Rail, Police, Ports and othrr critical infrastructure are at the exclusive prerogative of the federal government....
Agreed Is Palm oil in that list? Is solid minerals that dangote is hammering with in that list? Is rice in that list? Is what's sugar in that list? Is building off grid industrial park in that list?
States has no right to undertake FG exclusive projects. This is why states hardly repair federal roads... its same reasons why all ports are owned by FG...
Have the states fixed state or local govt roads?
Delta and Akwa Ibom tried to build their own sea ports and were frustrated.
Stop lying They proposed They did meeting Spent money on seminar Was it not their person in govt? Who held them. ? If they pdp govt could concession Lagos airport to apc man, what is pdp delta and akwa Ibom excuse?
Look at your power grid..
It is your power grid too
. You can't generate power without federal license
How many governor's have applied for this licence? You can't pass exam if you don't show up
and the power u generate will be shared people u don't know while your state is in darkness. Delta state has 3 power plants and yet power is erratic in Asaba... If you were the governor, will u build another power plant? That is why we have epileptic power in Nigeria.
Yes, cos the other ppl I don't know are paying for that light and I can use the profit to build more till I control Nigeria's electrIcity or I spend it on better healthcare or education or empowerment for my people. Or give them subsidised petrol for their generators.
There's more than one way to satisfy them.
So states can't just build anything they like. Whatever they want to build, they have to ship it to lagos and haul by trucks to their respective states....
Yes they can. But they must get permission first. How man govnor has asked permission to do anything
All these useless laws limits and restrict investments.
No they only limit closed minds
That is why it is better for Nigeria to revert to regionalism...
We tried that, awolowo had to shame the other regions into providing free education for their ppl because other premiers said it was impossible.
Let people build whatever they want and keep it instead of chasing federal approval and then sharing their sweat with people they dont know People CAN build. People WON'T ,no matter the system of govt WHY, because we are lazy. |

DMerciful: What did Fasola achieved in Lagos? He was highly overrated compared to the money at his disposal. Shey breeze don blow fowl shansh don open? Yeye dey smell! Fashola was very very very overrated. But I'm the land of the blind, the one eye man is king. He never not paid salaries. Even without Federal allocation for almost a year. Over 100 I give Fash 2 but it is way better than other governor's with a score of minus 60. And BTW 3 years still remain to do more than pdp. In the absence of any other performer in left with no choice but to put my lot in with Fash. Too bad marwa is not an astute politician, maybe we would have some choice by now. But if I can't have white I will manage grey instead of accepting black |

Only oil under the land is in fg control. Can governor's plant Palm oyel or not? Cocoa or not? Tomato or not? Mine limestone or whatever non oyel mineral they have(dangote is hammering o you're making excuse for your govnor. Is it not you that voted for salary sharing govnor. You as you de now many of your. Is that Cameroon constitution or which one Have you actually ever taken your time to acquire and read the constitution? Or like most ppl choose to be ignorant or you're just plain illiterate (cannot read)

rottennaija: Why are these meters on electric poles? Why not make this meter smart, in such a way that they can be monitored remotely so that the meters will be mounted on people's home?
The technology is there, is cheap and has been tested and proven. Besides, it will provide more jobs for the data processors that will be on those work station monitoring the system, those that pay, those connecting illegally etc. Besides, the meters are theirs, whatever investment they have put into it, in the course of 5 to 6 years, they will get it back.
What I see now is a short cut that will affect us years to come. Short cut or this quick has not really gotten us anywhere in this country. When Nigeria wanted electricity, instead of doing the right thing with underground wiring as is done in countries that are successful, they choose the cheap option of surface wiring with electric poles, despite the money they had and today, we are still suffering from that decision they are smart meters. tamper proof smart meters |

We don't need people that will be speaking English day in day out but practical professionals that will hit the ground running. Left to me the COREN, NIA, NSE, CORBON should all bury their heads in shame as they cannot protest and reject such appointment. Fashola might be a shadow of himself throughout the 4yrs as his position is overwhelming for his capacity. the science oriented don't seem to understand the basics. you need to win election or join winning party.if they can't get this how can we trust them with pocket science. like my dad says, they can't ensure toilets flush in academic institutions yet they want to be given real responsibility |

Unbrandedguy: Having read all advantageous effects. I state the disadvantages: 1. States have right to form state police, Nig govt fears this will create room for state rebellion and subsequently use police for state govt personal purposes.
We already having the state polic Hisbah in north Lastma in south Only gun remain
2. States have right to be autonomous, a room Nig govt sees as introduction to seccession.
States are autonomous
3. States control their resources, Nig govt feels this would leave many states in the north impoverished.
Fg never stopped any state from farming, mining or manufacturing
4. State govt earns varied salaries, Nig govt feels some southern states will have more money and enslave others.
So? Or do gidi or abj ppl look like they earn same with other state Civil servants
5. States finally have right to leave or stay as one entity in Nig. A light to achieving Biafra/ND republic, Oduduwa republic etc. Nig govt does not want that to happen..
You need big huevos to back a call for such
These are disadvantages.. Its for us to check if they weigh up to, or outweight the advantages. DEAFandDUMB |

eph12: The right thing to do is to take responsibility and fix everything wrong with our country and I believe that is what the government is trying to do or I think. You on the other hand can continue to sit in a corner and cry about the misrule of the past 60 years. If you expect business owners not to react in ways that will favor them then you don't know a thing about business. People are in business to make profit not for charity organization. Those we elected in are our political officers and they are the ones we can hold responsible. If militants or boko haram or Fulani herdsmen are having a field day i can't blame them. I instead blame those that are being paid with our taxes to stop them from operating. 1. that's what he is doing. when vulcaniser fix your tire does he just pump it or does he follow due process no matter how long it takes. same thing, first things first. if nobody suffers from anti corruption nothing will get done cos apc looting go worse pass so baba has to reboot the system. better to work effectively for 1 year than whistling in the wind for 4.all the quick quick solutions in the past (billions, acronyms, committees) which wan Hep you? calm down be patient and let baba work. or you can keep blaming(masturbation) him and he will still work till 2019 2. sitting down to share govt moni is not ''business '' that's why we are removing that incentive for laziness. the same goes for tthe sacked workers. they saw ppl fired during soludo time, during Sanusi time and they foolishly refused to plant tomato when the going was good instead they were buy-in flat screen and renting expensive homes and leasing expensive cars, all liabilities. one wonders how we haven't collapsed economically with such simpletons in charge of our finances. 3. this has nothing to do with the topic but anyone who is attacked repeatedly by rustlers deserves it. Imo women dealt with them with just dry pepper while full grown men present their wives and daughters for rape and their farms for pillage. not the fault of the rustles that the farmers have chosen to be easy target. |
