Most times we hear complaints about the poor supply of power nationwide, but we rarely hear the reasons why it has always been so since the country's existence as a nation. This issue of epileptic power supply has been here with us for a very long time and I always wonder what exactly the problem is that makes it impossible to have 24 hrs power supply. The recent reason I heard was that the militants are blowing up pipelines. But before the bombing started the power situation was in fact in some cases worse than before the bombing started.

I think Nigerians need to know the real reasons why we do not have constant power supply before expecting to start seeing any improvement, so we can know exactly who and what to actually blame for this mess and whether we will ever see adequate supply of power anytime soon.

Please I would like knowledgeable folks in this issue to tell us why it has been difficult for decades and counting for Nigeria to generate power constantly without interruption.
we needed to 100 GW.

See pictures of naked people eating in London's first naked restaurant

London has opened her first naked restaurant - which they claim has over 46,000 people on its wait list. The restaurant was opened in an undisclosed location in the south eastern part of London. The head chef of London's newest out-there dining experience said he believed that being Nude while eating will help customers to concentrate on their food and therefore inspire them to 'try new cuisines'.

Only open for just three months, Bunyadi claims that it offers 'pure freedom', giving the experience of eating in its natural form.

"No amount of indecency or any sexual related activities of any sort will be tolerated. Visitors who fail to adhere to this rule will be ordered out with immediate effect.

PoliticsRe: Ignorant APC Vice Prof. Osinbajo Does Not Know Gas by mikolo80: 12:06am On Jun 13, 2016
ogb5:
Voting in knowledgeable people is one of the beauty of democracy.

Correction
Voting for popular ppl is dark side of democracy.
This has been well developed by the advanced democracies in the west.

And they know how much time you will spend debating instead of developing.
Why don't they distribute democracy in Saudi and other oil countries that are loyal to them. Remember how they propped our military juntas for 32 years

To ensure that the nation elects the right people with the right skills, experience and qualifications, politicians are normally grilled on a range of subjects to gauge their understanding of the issues affecting their countries or constituency as the case may be.

In this vein looking at the power policy thrust of the APC as being put forward by no other person than their vice presidential candidate bring to fore some gross deficiency in the policy of the APC on power and shows that professor Osinbajo does not know what power generation entails.

The APC vice has consistently said that their government will improve power supply, the question is how will they do that.
The answer to the question of 'how' was answered by Osinbajo on Tuesday in Ondo during a town hall session. This is what he had to say.

1. They will decentralise power generation.
2. The decentralised power plants will have gas supplied to them by trucks instead of pipelines
3. They will copy the model of power plants already established in Lagos state.

herein lies the ignorance of the professor, also hidden in the rhetoric of the professor is the avenue for looting the treasury.
1. Power generation has been decentralised. Anyone, be it federal government, state government, local government or private companies can now set up power generation plant and sell such produced power as they deem fit. So Osinbajo should tell us something different.

It was deregulated.
It's not decentralised yet. We are all still on the national grid. Learn to use a dictionary at least

2. Technically you can not supply a power plant like the one in Lagos with gas using trucks.

But you can supply them with diesel.
Why don't we lay gas pipe from here to Yankee since its cheaper than ship tanker. Think bfor you talk.

This simply mean the professor and those formulating his policy on power generation knows nothing about power generation. The Lagos plant uses natural gas, that is another theme for methane gas. Industrially methane has 2 means of being transported, by pipelines when the point of use is less than 5,000 km and as liquefied natural gas by ships followed by re gasification when the point of use is more than 5, 000 km from the point of production. The gas supplied by trucks is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used for domestic cooking. No country in the world bases her power generation on LPG. Moreover Nigeria does not have the facility to produce adequate LPG to cater for domestic cooking, so using LPG for power generation is out of the question. So Osinbajo promising to supply gas to power plants with trucks is simply talking about something that is not possible.

Yet we supply abroad with container ships while we can't do same because you said so.
3. Osinbajo promised to model his modular power plants after the Lagos power plant. Simply put, the Lagos power plant is among the most expensive gas fired power plant in the world. The Ikeja modular power plant has an installed capacity of 10 megawatts and was built at a cost of 3.2 billion Naira. That was equivalent to about 2 billion usd per gigawatt of electricity. Globally the benchmark cost for gas fired power plants is 1 billion usd per gigawatt of electricity, the Ikeja plant cost twice the global benchmark for such plants. By planning to go with the Lagos model, Osinbajo is telling us the will deliver power at twice the global benchmark cost, and at a cost far higher than the current government is delivering power projects. Several gas fired power plants delivered by the current government in the last 4 yrs were delivered at less than 1 . 3 billion usd per gigawatt.

That one is just plain corruption but at least we can see the power plant. How many plant you see after obj spent 16 bill dollars
So Osinbajo has no clue about power generation, he is simply spooling out impossible promises to confuse the electorates. Worse part is that he is a pastor that is supposed to stand by the truth, how will he face God at the end of the day after telling blatant lies on the campaign trail.

guess you have an issue with critical thinking, that you don't seem to understand human nature and system models. The existence of the american system forces its citizens to conform to specific standards and same applies here. The mind is free wheeling and its the laws and structures that abound which aligns it to any cause. So oga if the system is wrong, you will keep doing the saame things and getting no results. How do you blame a governor now, didn't u notice many workers are on strike ? And the governors are telling stories of reduced allocations ? Remove that option , change that structure and the governors would understand that its a call to servee, a seat meant only for the competent, where its more difficult to blame another for his incompetence. Today a police man who has been taking his time Harass me in the name of checking my papers and tinted permit each time he sees me on the road arrived at my table to process a certain letter.

I looked at him carefully and ascertained he was the one.

I then brought out a clean sheet of paper for him to apply for the letter he was requesting for..

Not being able to write, I watched a man who is very cocky and proud whenever he is with a gun become so humble and hot under a chilled 2 horse power air-condition directly facing him.

He started by asking me where to write his address, and where to write the bank’s address and what the subject will be, expecting me to just get the paper from him and write on his behalf. Just when I was about to get the paper from him, The devil told me to just direct him and watch him suffer because obviously he could not write even a line or sentence.

Immediately I used my hands to point to him where he should write, I saw him sweating profusely, The sweat was so much that it started dropping on the floor.

I asked him if he was OK, He said Yes That he is not thinking straight rather. I asked him what the problem was, He told me he has just been sent to Liberia for peace keeping.

When i heard this my heart melted, the spirit of forgiveness came upon me instantly, I got the piece of paper from him, wrote the letter and processed his request in a couple of minutes.

I reminded him of who I was and he apologized dearly for all the harassment.

I said a little prayer with him and focused on his safe return to his family.

We haven't been able to tap the resources in other states and its very difficult for the dividends on democracy to reach the common man. Thus true federalism in this context is based majorly on resource control. Power must shift to the regions, we must weaken the government at the centre and transfer power to the regions. This means states would generate and develop their regions with whatever exists there while the contribute a token to the centre for running federal units like the military and unuversities. This implies that nigeria woould become a diversified economy faster in that structure than in our current one. That system reduces the importance of the president on local affairs and eliminantes traibal and religious bias in politics, as regional head have to contest amongst his or her own people unlike in the current structure
