Lol, you're still acting more like a Mane fan than a Liverpool fan. All these things you wrote up here is exactly what a rival fan who loves Mane would write and it'll be understandable not a Liverpool fan who ought to love the club more than any player.

For one, Nobody says Mane isn't important to Liverpool's success but that in this crisis you guys are experiencing, there's little Mane could have done and there's verifiable fact to back it up. You go about talking about personal records and achievements he had but was all these achieved when Liverpool where in injury crisis like this? No!!

You thinking anybody is blaming Mane for anything is just in your head sha, cos nobody is saying such. Many things dey to discuss instead of Mane, injuries, etc cool

I hate it when people undermine other people's achievement & success. I posted those things because an ignorant fellow asked about Mane's whereabouts when we were losing consecutively at home in 2021 when I never said that we are dip in form now due to his departure.
I don't know why these ignorant people keep pushing me to talk about him cos nobody can point to a post where I postulated that our poor performance this season is down to the departure of Mane. I have deliberately avoided it even when other people mentioned it.

I ask again since this new season commenced, how many times have you seen me talk about Mane?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 7:44pm On Aug 25, 2022
They will always say terrible things about the Liverpool legend to rubbish is great time at Liverpool but they won't tell you about the great feats he accomplished at the club. This goes to show how biased and ungrateful they are.

The season we lost 6 games consecutively at Anfield, they won't tell you that prior to that, we had gone 68 games unbeaten. We were the league's defending champions after topping the table with 99 points, 18 points ahead of Man City and despite going 22 points behind Man City that year we still managed to finish 3rd, cutting it to 17 points adrift of the champions and finishing ahead of Chelsea who won the champions league that year. Is it not a great feat if we finish above champions league winners in the league this season? But people are making nonsense of it because of how bias and ungrateful they are to their own African brother. What a shame!

Nobody in Liverpool history has scored more goals in Champions League knockout ties than he has. No other African player has achieved that. He has 15 in total. They won't tell you that.

Four times in the last five years, Mane reached 20 goals in all competitions. Nobody knows.
He has the fastest hayrick in the Premier League. It is inconsequential. Liverpool's record scorer away from home in the Champions league. Holds the Premier League record for the first player to score in nine consecutive league games against the same opponent. Just only the second player to score away hatrick in CL. It's not good enough.

Last season we almost won all the competitions we entered, winning the FA CUP & LEAGUE CUP while narrowly missing out on the league and Champions league after it went down to the wire. If other players had given it all just like he does we could have probably been champions league and league winners!

You won't hear all these but when we lose 6 home matches consecutively, they will blame Mane forgetting that we still rallied to finish 3rd above Champions league winners. They can do their best to rubbish the king but the fact remains that he's a legend at the club. Nobody can take that away from him.

Let that sink in. cool

I certainly agree with you. Sometimes I ask myself how Klopp still use the wings in this present day and time to keep on fashioning chances without getting found out.

Keita tho was meant to play that role but to me the guy have really underwhelmed in his time here. Thiago is another guy that makes the team creative but he's too injury prone and he starts from deep. Imagine the kind of impact Thiago brought last season even when playing from deep, it makes me wonder how you guys will be more deadly if there's someone playing like that in more advanced role

You dey see road bros. Keita has been outstandingly poor. He's the only one playing an advanced role among all our top midfielders and he's performance has been egregious.

Tbh, I still wonder why
Coutinho short stay with him proved that Klopp would have made Liverpool more deadly with a creative Midfielder but he wasn't replaced.

Maybe that's what he bought Cavalho for but the guy is still very young

He just refused to set up the midfield to be offensive since the departure of Coutinho for reasons best known to him. Creating goals from midfield should not be overlooked, it's an issue Klopp should look at cos there are times when opposition teams prevent us from scoring from the wide areas like in the three finals we played last season and scored 0 goals.

Someone is seeing the light. Let's be realistic, this team needs a creative midfielder. Going forward if anything happens to our wing play we will start struggling, no creativity down the middle. It's time for us to inject creativity from the middle of the pack. Why Klopp no like creative midfielders?

Lol, you know this isn't what I meant.

Man city dropped point against Crystal palace and Southampton last season. It might not be crystal palace or Southampton this season but they'll definitely drop point same way you guys will drop point too.

The way you're talking, someone will think Man city won't drop point at all

You said 4 points is nothing, that a win and a draw will cover it. You are saying it as if it's that easy. If we are to win the league this season, we will have to HOPE that we don't drop points again and also HOPE that City drop points. Is that what champions do?
We will drop points and they will drop points, so how do we cover the 4 points? So let's now hope they drop more points than us. Abi you go help us make dem drop points? grin

Lol, this is your very own quote. There's a big reason I'm even having this conversation with you and that's because I was actually surprised a Liverpool fan will say this

As for the 2nd bolded, past in context matters. There's a reason you agree that Man city are title contenders and have already won the league even though we're in a new season.

It's surprising how you see positive in Man city past to guage their present yet discard same past and say Liverpool getting top 4 would be an overachievement grin

My bad, it's an oversight. That's not what I actually meant.

I'm predicting that Man City will win this league again convincly not because of past glory but with what is obtainable now. I made reference to their past achievement in the league to drive home the postulation that being good at beating minnows is the key for a successful campaign. You seldom see them struggling to beat underdogs and whenever they meet it's always from 4 goals up. They hardly lose to teams they are technically better than.

We can't go toe to toe with Man City this season. It's a bitter pill to swallow for Liverpool fans but it's the truth. We don't have a creative midfielder, Thiago is injured, any decent team will stroll over our midfield as it stands, our new strike partnership needs time to gel whilst City are parading the best striker in the world arguably and ultimately the best creative midfielder in the league. They have world class in every department.
With all these in mind, plus other injuries, someone is telling me that we will win the league this season because I'm a Liverpool fan. No be me una go give HIGH BP. grin

I'm just being logical. I'm not even saying you should raise expectations or not, I mean you have that right. But my point is that drawing 2 games doesn't automatically mean that Liverpool will do bad this season because It's too early to judge. Reason because league is a sprint not a marathon.

You can place the bar low and aim for top 4 sha, it's no issue,(I mean you said top 4 will be an overachievement grin) . Other fans who believe in the team and Klopp will believe that once most of the players are fit, Liverpool will come back roaring again. Like Open.mine said, you're entitled to your opinion and I fully agree with him fully.

Firstly, we have not mounted a decent challenge in the league while struggling to beat under dogs in our first two games before.

Secondly, dropping 4 points is massive. A team expecting to win the league cannot be seen dragging one point with minnows. Why do you think Man City are favourites to win it this year after winning it 4/5? They are consistent in beating underdogs well and convincingly.

Thirdly, aside injuries, four points is massive. 2 games to the season we have already started playing catch up. This is not the make of a champion. A champion wins all his games esp. against minnows and expect his rivals to slip and not sleeping against Fulham and Crystal Palace and expect Tottenham to beat Man City and do the work for you while at the same time you are hoping to play unbeaten. What happened to getting off to a flying start?

We are struggling against teams we are supposed to be using to build confidence and points and people are expecting Klopp to perform magic. Make una no worry Tottenham Hotspur will beat Man City and Arsenal will draw them so we can be level on points and play unbeaten to lift the trophy. This I have seen grin

The point is, if Mane was mistreated, he wouldn't be giving a shit about the club. There are players who spoke negative about their former clubs. And they go on to have a career. Even Balotelli never spoke bad of Liverpool.

Why shouldn't he give a shit about the club? So Mane should stop talking to his former teammates because?

It's very rare because a person who disses his former employer is imprudent and careless.
I'm a chartered accountant for instance if I leave my current employment because I want a bigger pay, I won't say it even if it's true. Then during during interview I tell my prospective employers that my current company is underpaying me that's why I want to leave. This would cast doubts as to whether I'm really chartered accountant because that's against my professional code of conduct and I'm supposed to exhibit high moral standards. I'm going to actually lose the interview! It's a shot in the foot.

So see Mane as that chartered accountant who has a high moral compass and can't go against his code of conduct.

I actually saw that but I understood the message he was trying to pass and I didn't see that as a big issue. I didn't even know you'll even pounce on it sef grin

But to be honest, you don't really sound like a Liverpool fan. No disrespect to you or I don't mean to sound offensive, but it's rare seeing a fan of a club always all thinking gloom and doom about his favourite club. It might be understandable if Liverpool are in trenches during the past 5 years but no, it isn't.

How you're expecting doom and gloom and thinking Liverpool will overachieve in making top 4 is what is beyond me. If na rival fan say this sef, we'll see it as trolling how much more a Fan of the club

It's funny sha grin

No offense taken but I didn't say that making top four is over achievement. My expectations this season is top four finish in the league. A decent title challenge by us will be seen as a bonus. Don't misquote me bros.

I'm not your everyday football fan, I don't speak with sentiments about the club because I'm a fan. Not me. I don't built hope on past glory but present circumstances.

Go and check if there was anytime last season I ruled is out of the league? The big question is, what changed?

Nobody says points doesn't matter but the issue is that unlike cup competitions, league points can always be regained.

Arsenal was aiming for top4 last season but we lost our first 3 matches scoring zero goals and was 20th while tottenham had 9 points. Everyone thought it was doom and gloom but come March/April we were already topping tottenham with 4-6 points with top 4 in our hands. While unfortunately we lost out on top 4 but nobody was saying it was solely because of the first 3 matches that caused it, instead it was our poor run In April/May that actually gave tottenham the top 4.

Except you're telling me Man city will go unbeaten this season without losing or drawing a match, if not 4point no be big gap

Every single point is very material. So it's only Man City that is allowed to drop points in the course of the season? Liverpool won't drop points along the way while trying to close the 4 points? So Liverpool will play unbeaten but Man City won't. grin

My bad about the mix up...I meant losing a game which was against Tottenham and they were also not top for over 6-7 weeks until Chelsea started falling apart towards the end of the year 2021!
Maybe Jodera's subtle support for a club he doesn't even rep made me mix up records...thanks for the correction!

My point is simple and unambiguous!
It will be insensitive and preposterous to gauge the progress or standings of a team by their first 5 games just the same way you cannot predict that the positions at the top 5 will be the same come may 2023!
Do not forget that a league is a marathon and not a sprint!
Interestingly,Jodera understood the point I was making far more than an acclaimed fan of LFC!
E b things....

Secondly,I have said this severally that if you don't like LFC or what you see, please carry yourself to man city or any other club and stay there or better still follow your hero mane to Bayern Munich(just an advise).... Where they have so far scored six plus goals with a 100% win in 2 matches.....The real intent of the originator of this thread if I not mistaken was created for constructive criticism and hopeful optimism not an unapologetic pessimism and subtle mockery of LFC!
It was made to speak more of positives, repping and recommendations of LFC!
Despite mancity's inability to win an European trophy, none of the fans have been critical of their team in their thread except the fans are lily-livered or fake!

Lastly,I really do not care about your pessimism towards our progress this season because I still have my doubt whether you are actually an LFC fan because you can't tell me the exist of mane will automatically make you an LFC mocker!

However, your stance on LFC is your opinion and you are entitled to it!

Losing to Tottenham 1 0 and beating Norwich 5 0 is not the same as playing out draws against Fulham & Crystal Palace. That been said, we couldn't win the league last season we were firing from all cylinders from the get go, is it this season that we are dropping points against Fulham and Crystal Palace in our first two matches coupled with injuries here and there that we ll win the league? How can you look at this team and have unrealistic expectations and be optimistic that we ll clinch the title?

During pre season you said result don't matter, 2 matches into the season you are saying that the first 5 matches don't matter, who knows after season end you will tell us that the 38 matches don't matter too.

I wonder what you see in this team that is giving you and Jodera confidence that we are going to mount a title challenge. Injuries apart and the fact that we are yet to buy any notable reinforcement in midfield, any good analyst can see that we can't mount a decent title challenge this season all things being equal.

You can call me a Mane Stan or a Liverpool mocker it won't stop me from being realistic.

Exactly, most people forget that the league is a Marathon not a sprint. Good example you gave is Chelsea— strong title contenders by December only to start praying not to fall away from top 4 by march. Season long and 4 points is nothing especially at this stage of the season. A lose and a draw will just easily cover up everything.

Me I certainly believe Klopp and Liverpool will always bounce back. The day I trust Klopp's Liverpool was against Barca 4-0. A team without hot Salah and in-form Firmino won Barca from 3 nil down. Not only that but Robertson had injury in first half. Meaning na almost 2nd team play Barca in semi final yet still won Barca with full squad. Anybody (esp Liverpool fans) wey no believe Klopp ehh, na OYO oo.

Lol, but sha, I no be football fan first and I try to be always logical with things. It doesn't matter whether it's arsenal or Liverpool or Man u or Chelsea grin cool

Points matter anywhere in the league. Imagine if Man City drew against Norwich in their second game last season, Liverpool could have won the league.

Top teams challenge each other every season. The same way You challenged Man city is also same way Man city challenged you. Las las, one person must be a winner. Unfortunately, Man city won with the fight to the very end. Any slack and you guys would have been champions. Also, my point is simple, I'm not glorifying 2nd, I'm just telling you that you guys have what it takes to become champions barring any lengthy injuries to core players and depth.

Lol, this bolded is funny. So after all these explanations you explained and shalaye you gave, you still fell back to the place where I said Man city topped you guys with 13points and you guys still recovered it. Worst still is that, this happened during the middle of the season, yet you're sulking about 4 points after matchday 2.

I don't know the reason why you're pessimistic sha and you've not given any valid points. If to say na any other England club, I for agree but not Liverpool na.
Maybe you're one of those who think that the sale of Mane is affecting Liverpool. Right? cool

And yes I believe a front three of Nunez, Salah and Diaz with Jota and Firmino coming in could fire you guys up. The only thing that's affecting you guys is injuries for now not even quality.
Imagine I named five attackers yet only 2 is available for selection. Reason am na

You are being unrealistic. What I'm telling you right now is whats obtainable. I am not setting high standard for this team this season, I'm will be satisfied if we finish top four anything beyond that is a bonus. The only time I'll be disappointed is when we finish outside top four. Raising the bar above that is living by faith and building castles the air. That's my expectations this season for me, you can continue giving other Liverpool fans empty hope but tell them say you no see me. grin

We had a better attack & defence last season compared to what we have now and Man City is better this season in contrast to last season but you think we will beat them to the league.

I'm not being pessimistic, I'm facing reality while you are dreaming but you will never accept it. I told you our team last season is stronger than this current team yet we didn't win the league. How you expect us to win it a weaker team that is bedeviled with injuries is beyond me.

Lol, I didn't say you guys would outperform Man city. I actually said you guys can still compete with Man city (meaning you will give them a run for their money).

I remember last season, man city topped you guys with up to 13 points around December if I'm not mistaken, yet Liverpool still closed the gap and Man city needed a last game of the season win to be crowned champions. What is 4pts that can't be covered.

If you think this squad with the main players coming back will still drag for top 4, then maybe you don't trust klopp the way I do sha undecided

So our own is to be challenging Man City every season, playing second fiddle everyday and not actually winning the league? Our own is to "compete" by season end they will award Man City the league and give us competing trophy.

A club that finished 2nd is in the same level with one that placed 4th position, no difference unless you want to tell me that there is a trophy for 2nd position grin

Which 13 points? After the first 2 games last season Liverpool were topping Man City with 3 points, Man City caught up and overtook them with 13 points! So talk another thing cos this your excuse no fly.

Don't get me started with injuries, the same injuries our in house analyst claimed was the reason we lost to Man Utd in pre season? grin

It's not about trusting Klopp but about being realistic. You can't compare a front 3 that broke a record last season to what we have now. Let's tell ourselves the truth. You mean you see Nunez and Diaz scoring more than 10 league goals each?

After 2 matches last season we won 2 in 2 scoring 5 and conceding none with our front 3 scoring more than 10 goals each which is a record in that league season as a whole and we still did not win the league.
