Minemrys: Let me enlighten you Finding it hard to beat Everton is not an appropriate yardstick to determine how fierce the match between us is. Guess what? The most difficult team for Liverpool is Man Utd. They are the team that have beaten us most in the Premier league. We have met them 178 times and they have won 68 times while we have won 60 and drawn 50. We have met Everton 206 times winning 80 times in the process while they beat us 58 times. So do the maths. MAN UTD has one over us. |

The party does not have the wherewithal to deliver at both state and Federal level. Delivering at state level will take time, give it time. Don't you get it? |

Minemrys: If if if if if . . . We could have won the league last season if we had beaten Man City at Anfield going by your logic. You cannot tie your success in the league to a particular team. You can lose against your greatest rivals and still win the league! Winning the league is ultimate. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 4:32pm On Jul 16, 2022 |
Minemrys: We lost the league in 2019 because of Everton. What tha? E be like I go leave this thread for una because the kind things I dey read here every dey turn my stomach. Man City won the league 2 seasons ago while losing home and away to Man Utd. Man Utd were busy celebrating beating City while City were celebrating running away with the title because no sensible club places priority on winning senseless derbies wins over winning the league. What is Everton? Why should I care about beating a team that almost got relegated last season? What bragging rights are you guys talking about? Man City is turning the EPL to a monopoly but Everton is more important |

Gary Neville openly claimed he hated Liverpool. He's the current captain of Everton.

Jodera: You have proved my point - trophies!!!! Trophies are the bedrock of rivalries. You can not talk about the rivalries without bringing trophies into play. When judging the fierceness of rivalries the first thing that is considered is trophies before history, environment and domestic fans. Just like you rightly said Nothing equates to trophies, meaning trophies over history. That's why you prefer to throw away history and environment and lose to Tottenham in order to beat Chelsea and win a trophy. Liverpool v Man Utd will always be bigger than Liverpool v Everton because of the trophies between them and not because of history. Liverpool will always want to beat Man Utd to prove a point while Man Utd will always want to be beat Liverpool no matter what, that's what drives fierce. Why would Liverpool desire to beat Everton over Man Utd whom they know that losing to them might give them the opportunity of winning the league and increasing their trophy gap? Liverpool will always want to win to equal Man Utd's record while Man Utd will always want to win to maintain the record. That's what rivalry is all about. That's what drives history. Why would I worry about beating Everton who almost got relegated than winning the league? If Man Utd beat me, it's going to increase their chances of winning the league and extending the gap, if Everton beat us they are still where they are, so why should care about losing to them. I don't how else I can explain football rivalry to you. These statements you are making about Liverpool v Everton being fierce is false and baseless. Go and read about "Merseyside Derby" on Wikipedia. The derby is even nicknamed THE FRIENDLY DERBY. what does that tell you? |

Man City won the league last season but someone is telling me that Man City could have preferred to beat Man Utd who were not title contenders just than beating Liverpool who wanted to take the league from them. I don see something for this thread! If winning derbies are that relevant why don't we have special regnition and trophies for derby wins? |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 3:39pm On Jul 14, 2022 |
Jodera:You are not even a Liverpool fan? Bros you are mistaking local rivalry for biggest rivalry. Liverpool's biggest local rival is Everton but their biggest rival in the country is Man Utd. How can local trump country wide? What is your basis for postulating that one rivalry is bigger than the other? That Everton is also based in Merseyside doesnt qualify them to be Liverpool's greatest rival. That they are based in the same city doesn't make them their biggest rival. Chelsea and Fulham are based in Fulham . . does that make Fulham Chelsea's biggest rivals? So you are saying that a match between Espanyol and Barcelona is considered greater than El Clasico? Haba! Local derby can never be superior to country wide rivalry! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 12:32pm On Jul 14, 2022 |
Jodera: You are just selling El Classico short. There is nothing you are going say to convince anybody that Athletico v Madrid carries the same weight as El Classico. El Classico don suffer for your hand bros. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 10:56am On Jul 14, 2022 |
Jodera: Athletico V Madrid is equivalent to Liverpool v Everton not Liverpool v Man Utd. Your point would hold water if Everton beat us 4 0 instead of Man Utd. The level of seriousness Madrid will apply while squaring up against Barcelona will not be the same when they play Athletico Madrid. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 10:37am On Jul 14, 2022 |
Jodera: Athletico Madrid v Madrid is not the same as Liverpool Man Utd, the equivalent of that in Spain is Madrid v Barcelona so bring another point cos this one won't fly. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 10:34am On Jul 14, 2022 |
Jodera: Pre season matches affect overall team performance to some extent. There will always be rivalry between Liverpool v Man Utd irrespective of the variables involved just like Messi v Ronaldo, Mourinho v Pep or Barcelona v Madrid - you just don't want to admit it. I didn't say players should kill themselves over friendly games, my point is, you don't have to get disgraced while playing friendlies esp. with your arch rivals. Is there anything wrong with posting decent results in friendly matches? Is that too much to ask? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 10:17am On Jul 14, 2022 |
Jodera: Like I said before, we will revisit the issue as the season progresses, but I'm not comfortable with Man Utd pummelling us whether in pre season, inside Ukraninan war or the World Cup. It will never sit well with me. |

openmine: We are talking about Man Utd v Liverpool and you still dey mention their games against QPR and Napoli. Who cares about the result of dead rubber friendly games. Are QPR and Napoli their arch rivals. I ve challenged you to show me a pre season were we got demolished by a big EPL in pre season and later went ahead to win the league or challenge for the title. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 9:30pm On Jul 13, 2022 |
How can you describe Man Utd last pre season as impressive? How is Man Utd beating a team that almost got relegated an impressive result.? It's just like saying that Man City beating Southampton is an impressive result when that is what we would expect to happen. An impressive result is when you finish 6th and eviscerate your arch rivals who almost won the league. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 7:01pm On Jul 13, 2022 |
openmine: None of these matches carry the same weight as the Man Utd Liverpool game. So what point are you making here? Friendlies are not important yet all the teams they beat did not outperform the season in the season in question. Chelsea reached two finals and Champions League semi final and came third in the league. How do you explain that? Man Utd finished 6th, what was Evertons position again. What is the relevance of beating me home and away if I ended up finishing above you in the league? The Man Utd Everton game even drives my point further. They lost emphatically in pre season against this same Man Utd and they ended up fighting relegation throughout the season. Another much better Merseyside team has lost against to the same Man Utd side by same scoreline and you no dey see anything. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 6:39pm On Jul 13, 2022 |
openmine: Correction : One match we got destroyed and rraped by our arch rivals. It's one thing to lose a match and it's another thing to get decapitated by your biggest opponent. Any match between these two clubs can never be regarded as dead rubber even if it's played in pre pre season or inside Russian-Ukranian war. Make Thailand people catch you calling a match they paid dearly for a dead rubber game. Did you know that the ticket for that match was more expensive than that of the champions league final? OK. You are even driving my point home with those matches you posted cos I was expecting you to show me how Liverpool lost 4 0 in pre season in the last five years against a big time and still won a major trophy. None of those matches were as important as the Man Utd game yet they didn't get cremated. Are you saying that Liverpool should take a match against Tranmare more serious than a Man Utd that the fans paid heavily to watch. Thailand fans paid through their noses to attend the match only to watch their team get incinerated by their biggest rivals. Imagine paying N300k to go watch Liverpool play against Man Utd at the national stadium and they lose emphatically. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by mikuz(m): 3:17pm On Jul 13, 2022 |
openmine: I know why teams engage in friendlies but is there a law that says you can't build players fitness without getting whitewashed? Must you lose massively in the name of testing fitness? Testing fitness doesn't involve defending well or scoring goals abi. You just run around with the ball for 90 minutes and every other thing doesn't not matter and it's irrelevant. What is even your own assessment of fitness testing? I think Man U or Chelsea won 200% of their pre season last season but whitewashing big clubs like us? Yes? Give us the fixtures of Man U and Chelsea's pre season matches last term make we compare notes abeg. The big question is did Liverpool get thrashed and demolished like this during last season pre season? The fact that we got decimated by our biggest rivals whether pre season or not and you are not concerned means that you are missing the big picture. |
