I am not setting high standard for this team this season, I'm will be satisfied if we finish top four anything beyond that is a bonus. After 2 matches last season we won 2 in 2 scoring 5 and conceding none with our front 3 scoring more than 10 goals each which is a record in that league season as a whole and we still did not win the league. This season we are struggling against low table teams scoring 3 and conceding 3. If you think this team will outperform Man City or their last league performance then you are dreaming.

The purpose of a preseason friendly is to build fitness of players and create rhythm...hence, there isn't much commitment ab initio in order not to risk a possibility of an unnecessary injury! You can make your findings!
This is common knowledge in sports and just because you do not comprehend such or find it laughable doesn't mean its not possible!

Secondly,a friendly is no big deal...thats why no player or manager puts much emphasis on the performance and result per se as that is a platform to test various positions or strategy with different players either fringe or main!
If you ask a sports person they will tell you the likely time to get an injury is when they return to training after they have had a vacation!

I have said this before, there is no safeguard against injury in football. It is an unavoidable risk because you cannot control it.
For instance, let me make it clearer, can you avoid the risk of getting sick? No! Even doctors fall sick! It is an unavoidable risk in life! So is injury an unavoidable risk in football. The only way you can avoid it is to retire from football. because even if you are a bench warmer you can still cop injury in training.
Soon you will tell us that we didn't train for the match because we were avoiding injury in training. Diaz will just be running goalwards with the ball, Maguire will hit him with a flying tackle from nowhere! Gbam! Too weeks injury How do you avoid that?

Saying that we didn't take the match serious because of fear injuries is laughable. You dey surprise me. Injuries in football is an inherent risk that can not be avoided. Whether you like it or not, you cannot put a safeguard against getting injured because it's a contact sport and you cannot control your opponent's approach to the game.

If you are going to play pre season in order to boost your fitness level then you should be ready to face the risk involved. You do that at the expense of getting injured.

The only best bet against getting injured is not playing at all, even at that you can still get injured by sitting on the bench. Plus you are even more likely to get injured while playing unseriously than taking the match serious.

If not getting injured is that important, let's scrap pre season matches bros

My concern was that we took the match unserious and allowed them to beat us. If we had taken the match serious they for no see draw. My ANGER is that we approached the match with unseriousness and got walloped which should not be. I expected some seriousness from us that day. So they didn't beat us because they were magnificent or better than us. Spot the difference.

How come those lapses haven't prevented us shipping goals while he plays RB? Hope you know DM is different from CB and there are many ways to play the role that isn't strictly about defending. He can play it differently like the Kante kind or as a deep lying playmaker.
Playing as a CDM or DM is all about reading the game and having an eye for passes that transition defense to attack. It's just one full preseason that he will be given to test himself in the role. And the fact he has played as a Midfielder or is a natural Midfielder gives him an edge. His lapses at RB are because he of the role he plays at RB where a lot of times he overlaps. As a DM, he doesn't need to overlap that often.

Because he has more defensively gifted people to cover for him whenever he overlaps. If you play him as a DM he would be useless both defensively and offensively. They will overrun our midfield. Why are you so bent on him playing there? Just like asking Salah to play striker position when he ll score more goals for the team operating from the right.

Trent have been phenomenal playing RB for us these past years. See the way he's breaking assist records every season. He's a great asset offensively but defensively he's just average.
