clayfounder:Why you dey act like asylum seeker police up and down na. |
clayfounder:Oga you funny oh. Why questioning another person's holiday choice? Na you wan pay for him visa and flight? |
hayyawithme:I believe the best time is now. The Canada people are unpredictable, some applications are treated speedily while some others may take time. By the way, this your username is the name of the Qatar app.I once used it to process a visit and it was seamless, approval came in no time. The following year, I wanted to use it again and applied, the approval never came! I was already in Europe as I planned the stopover on my return, I was almost stranded as they refused to board me, I had to cough out extra money to quickly change my flight itinerary before check-in closes to cut out my supposed Doha stop over groove. Do you know if they have started approving Nigerians again on the app? |
jayciekey:Well, according to the thinking of visa officials, you are a significant tie and motivation for them to land over there and file asylum. |
Wealthypips:Same was experienced. If you click continue to payment, it will take you to that pending appointment page where, you can input your payment details, that is, the amentum number and payment date. The process you followed earlier. That's that place it tells you "payment details updated successfully" and calendar is supposed to pop up after selection of pickup location if everything goes fine. |
readonenaire:Wow, nice! I'm really impressed at the expedited response. Chai, that mistake will definitely put a big dent in the performance evaluation of that ECO. A big well done for seeing this through! |
onile1975:Is that Ikeja? I was astounded at the crowd I saw there mid April. It was like a market place. |
Wealthypips:You'll get response after 1 or 2 months, and it'll give you that same response someone earlier posted, or another one asking you to direct your request to nigeria@usvisaappt.com in a message like the one quoted below: Thank you for your inquiry. |
Wealthypips:I've had this payment issue for an application I did for my partner since Sept last year despite paying for both of us simultaneously. I've since had my own successful interview, traveled and returned and the issue still remains unresolved. Despite the frustration, we decided not to pay another visa fees and wait it out, as the other person's trip was not urgent. I've raised countless tickets, sent countless emails. In one of my verbal interaction with one of their agents, he notified me of changes to their process, and said we can now cancel pending appointments and restart the whole process for a possible resolution of payment verification issues. I was reluctant and drew his attention to the fact that there's a caveat that if you cancel appointment, the payment is gone. But he assured me that this was the new process. I still didn't cancel. I left the issue and returned after some days to complain again, this time to the customer care chat feature. I was told the same thing, with this agent emphatically assuring me the payment will not be forfeited. I also received email directly from the embassy advising on the new process to cancel pending appointment and re-start the process for scheduling problems. I thereafter cancelled the pending appointment and started the process afresh. This was like 2 months back. However, I'm still unable to schedule the appointment, even after canceling and re-attempting to book appointment. It only shows the "Bank details updated successfully" and does not open up the calendar. Though it also does not say the payment has been used up. |

Middle East's Schengen style GCC tourist visa approved, to be rolled out 'soon' https://m.economictimes.com/nri/visit/middle-easts-schengen-style-gcc-tourist-visa-approved-to-be-rolled-out-soon/articleshow/121890800.cms The long-awaited unified tourist visa for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has received formal approval and is expected to be introduced soon, according to UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri. The visa aims to streamline tourism across the six GCC member nations — the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait — and is being viewed as a significant step toward regional travel integration. Speaking at a press briefing during the UAE Hospitality Summer Camp on Monday, June 16, 2025, Al Marri confirmed the progress: “The single (GCC) tourist visa has been approved and waiting now to be implemented, hopefully, soon. Now, it is with the Ministry of Interior and the relevant stakeholders and they should look into it.” Dubbed the "GCC Grand Tours Visa" in some circles, the initiative is modeled on the Schengen visa system used in Europe. It will allow travelers to visit all six Gulf countries under a single visa, removing the current requirement of applying separately for each destination, despite existing air and road connectivity. The approval of the GCC unified tourist visa has been met with strong support from leaders in the travel and hospitality sectors, who see it as a turning point for regional tourism and economic activity. Industry professionals expect the visa to ease cross-border travel across the six Gulf nations, making the region more attractive and accessible to international tourists. One notable trend expected to grow is "bleisure" travel — a combination of business and leisure — as visitors are likely to extend their work-related trips to explore neighbouring countries. This could translate into longer stays and a broader spread of tourism-related spending across the region. Beyond tourism, the unified visa is projected to spur wider economic benefits. Stakeholders believe that simplified travel will drive job creation, boost investment in hospitality and infrastructure, and support a more collaborative approach to positioning the GCC as an integrated travel destination. The visa initiative follows a period of strong recovery in the Gulf’s travel sector. Data from the GCC’s Statistical Centre shows: 68.1 million visitors in 2023 $110.4 billion in tourism revenue A 42.8% rise in arrivals compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels In the UAE, the sector continues to contribute significantly to the economy. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC): The industry supported 833,000 jobs in 2024 Employment is forecast to reach 1 million by 2030 The earlier WTTC projection for 2034 was 928,000 jobs By 2030, one in nine UAE residents could be employed in tourism Dubai’s Lead Role in Regional Travel Dubai remains a key driver of Gulf tourism. According to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the city recorded: 7.15 million visitors between January and April 2025 A 7% year-on-year growth compared to the same period in 2024 With the upcoming rollout of the unified visa, other destinations in the GCC are expected to benefit from Dubai’s tourist inflow, encouraging longer and more diverse travel itineraries across the region. LadyCaplin: Thytechguy:Applied Fri May 9 Biometrics Mon May 12 Applied on the new portal with valid US visa, no info for now. |
davodyguy:The ECO made a silly mistake. Probably a young inexperienced person who just saw the figure and gleefully made a quick refusal decision withoout paying attention to the currency. This is definitely a rookie mistake. I don't think we need to look for excuses for the error. I've submitted corporate dom account in the past and there was no confusion. The ECO just paid better attention. People submit dom account for visa application from time to time and there has never been any complaints of the account not being in local currency. |
readonenaire:This is a fatal error on the part of the ECO. Eventhough a complaint or PAP will definitely scale through, the process may be time-consuming and may make you miss the event looking at the July date you applied for the visa against. Therefore, I'd suggest you re-apply instead and highlight the currency issue in the fresh application. Most especially in the column provided for extra comments on the form itself. I don't think its all ECOs that read the attached letter of explanation. |
TradeSunMoore:That 2MB is just an headache when you have lots of documents. Do you think there's any noticeable processing time difference between the 2? Because, if indeed the new is AI-processed as insinuated by a number of people, one would have expected it to be quicker than the other. |
aragbaboy:Correct, well done! One of the things this thread recently established which makes so much sense is correcting the notion that 6 months bank statement is compulsory for UK visa application. Assuming this info came to me earlier, I woukdnt have suffered a refusal I had in the past as the area of my account which was flagged for inflows was the 1st month out of 6. This year, I had increase in salary 4 months back and I didn't want different salaries to show in my salary account statement to avoid raising questions, I decided to put 4 months statement with same salary and it scaled through for my 2 years application. Even the company account put alongside, was too bulky and had to limit it to just 3 months. |
Debbieeeeeee:. Sincerely all of us were shocked when we saw that address thing. The address on my personal statements I’ve used for successful applications are different from current home address stated in my application and it scaled through. Even the company account statements I dropped had different addresses all different from official company address on company CAC documents. These guys always have their agendas and then come up with an excuse as justification. Or sometimes, some strong areas of an application counteracts some red flags. Recently, I assisted someone in looking over his 1st-time application to the UK and he had 3 lump sums, which gave me serious headache and concern. We couldn't get receipts of what he used those monies for, but luckily he transferred some of the money out in like 2 days after and we strongly emphasisd this. We also just did an explanation and also put the bank transaction receipt from the originator and it scaled through. He has been to an European country for a short visit the previous year though. I believe this travel history worked in his favour. You see, that's why I said 'sometimes', the actual reasons for refusal is not disclosed. They just fish around for booby traps to put on the letter as they are mandated to do so. Some of these booby traps if it shows clear cut error can be used to successfully challenge the refusal. While others that are a bit ambiguous are more difficult. |
humbleboyy:Maybe you should go to VSF and check oh. I recall 2 years back, this happened to some of my guys that we applied roughly same time. We all did priority and only 2 of us got feedback within time frame. The remaining guys' application stayed up to 6 weeks to our bewilderment. After several paid calls and emails and waiting, it was discovered the applications have been treated way back. The system just didn't alert us that the passports have been returned. And interestingly, they were all issued with visas. The visa stamp date also confirmed it has been treated way back. This was with TLS though. |

In 'my own' opinion, for a single person, this always works: - A critical role in a high paying job. And this has to be well packaged and communicated. Also, - travel history |
olowomanifest:They believe you have more incentive to stay over there with your lover than return here. As you can earn far more over there on a monthly basis doing petty jobs than what you are earning here with reference to your stated incomes. And being with your lover is an added benefit. For Oyinbo mind, as an adult, love love things has a stronger hold and pull on you than family. |
Busy2018:Visitor's visas are not eligible for appeal as stated on the refusal letter. But a complaint can be lodged or judicial review requested if you feel significant errors were made. The ECO was probably unable to profile your personal and family economic circumstances and took the easy way out to refuse than risk it. More information is needed to be able to have an idea of what was presented and relate it to this refusal. What financials did you put on the application? Are you sponsoring your self fully or a part sponsor. Did you put family pictures of your immediate family? And also with that of your sister and wider family? Landed property? Any travel history to demonstrate some economic stability? Is your employer a stable, well known and large organisation that you'll think twice before abandoning the job? Your monthly pay if converted to naira, does it equal the GBP amount stated on the letter? The ECOs usually do a lot of copy and paste of the refusal note of the applications they are handling and must have mistakenly pasted the financial of another application on your own refusal letter. Unfortunately, this may not have any significant effect on the substance of the refusal. The decision has been made before this copy and paste. If queried, the right one will be fished out and put there. It's just a clerical error. The other reference to your workplace in my own opinion is just fishing around for more excuse. I'd want to believe the main reason for the denial is not stated here, but maybe in their private notes. Vague denials like this are usually difficult to challenge. Not trying to discourage you, just analysing based on what I've seen in the past. If challenged, they may correct the error in the currency and revert back with same decision. But its worth a try. |
GudluckIBB:I doubt it will affect other future Schengen applications. Despite that some of these countries share information behind the curtain, Schengen applications are a bit more tempered. There's even no part of the form they ask for previous visa refusals. But this may negatively influence future UK applications. That was why I suggested you guys should take the planned trip to a Schengen country. Those UK guys are too mechanical. If you and your spouse have a stable job and good account you'll get the Schenghen visa. |
GudluckIBB:One can 'assume' the ECO was not detailed enough to see that you have already used the visa following your last application. Or, it can be, that, it was noted, but the person just felt traveling with the entire family within a short interval to your last trip on a visa you applied for, stating you are going alone is a red flag. Basically, because the family you left behind must have been highlighted as strong home ties. Though it's late now, but a cover letter explaining this would have been helpful and may positively influence the ECO. A statement that "you have already used the visa for your initial intentions but now seeking entry clearance for a family vacation and hopefully, you'll be using the visa with them since its still valid and a multiple entry visa." I don't have any suggestion for immediate remedy as I doubt challenging it will scale through as the ECO seems to have legitimate concerns & did not actually make an error in exercising his/her discretion even though it seems so. The evidence in prints that will be tabled is to their favour. Legal issues relies on available facts and not sentiments. You guys should probably take the holiday to a Schengen country and then reapply to UK together later. That way, you'd have demonstrated a clear pattern of holiday with family. |
Mrphilia:Great! Wish you a safe and memorable trip 👍🏾 |
Preshy2004:Thanks for sharing your transcript and making the forum richer, a lot of people shy away from this, especially following a negative outcome. Do you really do not have a family or relative in the US? Asking if you have a child in the US is not a generic question, though the follow up question about if you know someone is generic. I'm assuming she's seeing something and that was the reason she asked about a child, with a follow up about if you know anyone at all, and your answers probably did not align. Based on personal experience, I don't think dwelling on your last trip is sufficient to damage the entire interview. The interviewer may sneer at it as show-off, but I wouldn't want to believe her decision will be based solely on that. I may also be wrong anyways as US visa interviews can be subjective. Though no 2 interviews are same, but during my interview in March for a visa I applied for conference and tourism afterwards, I earlier traveled in Feb and had to update my DS-160 form just to include this and when I was asked about previous travels, it was my first response, and I placed emphasis on it "...that I recently traveled to Paris and Dubai last month, bla bla bla, and last year I went to Spain and UK, and previous years to ....." She (interviewer) then said all my travels seem to be directed at similar event to what I'm using as justification to apply for the US visa and I answered in the negative, saying one of my trips, to Spain was with my wife just for vacation to enjoy ourselves together without the kids. I provided that extra info and I could see her nodding, smile and just typing and typing. It'd seem the interaction wrapped up shortly after this. |
Mrphilia:This has happened to me before with Air France and they boarded me. My visa start date was the following day, whereas I was to depart at 11pm or thereabout. Using these your dates for example. My Schengen France visa starts on the 27th, but I booked AF flight scheduled for takeoff around 11pm on the 26th. Air France boarded me. But I recall I got in touch with them earlier and received confirmation that they'll board me. Some Naija immigration I sought their opinion earlier wanted to use that opportunity to extort me but I later ignored them. Now, AF may exercise some discretion and flexibility because they are the national carrier of their country, my destination and may be able to easily sort things out. So you have to ensure you get multiple confirmation from Qatar. Both their customer care and directly from their Airport desk. All those Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, MAROC... Those guys sometimes do not treat us with respect and dignity. Emirates almost made me miss my connecting flight from Dubai to Paris on one occasion when they were analysing my visa over and over saying it looks fake. I just stood there watching all their antics with amusement wondering if someone who is not the issuing authority can validly declare a visa as fake. |
LadyCaplin:Thanks! |
Submitted visit visa application on Friday 9th, biometrics is tomorrow Mon 12th. Asides the IRCC & VFS appointment letter, will any other thing be required please? |
Abbebbay:Biometrics on 17th April, Ikeja. Decision email yesterday 8th May. Collected today 9th May. It was successful. 2 yrs given I got 6 months, which I used once last year after 2 previous refusals. After my last year UK visit, I've also made 2 separate Euro trips. I applied with the usual documents, but didn't write cover letter this time around. Last year I wrote detailed cover letter addressing previous refusals. This time, I packaged my thoughts in the extra notes column at the last section of the form. Documents - hotel reservation - employment letter - promotion letter - letter from employer indicating I've been approved to go on leave and also that employer is sponsoring the vacation. - Employer account statement - Employer CAC documents & tax clearance. - 4 months personal account statement with 2m plus. - 6 months personal USD account statement with $3,000 plus. - family documents -marriage and children birth certificates. - previous visas and stamps. - pictures taken during previous travel and also that of family. - monthly expense declaration of 1m. - budget for trip 3,500 pounds. -Personal amount committed towards trip 500 pounds. Did not put cover letter, ticket reservation, pension account, personal tax clearance and landed property this time around eventhough I put all of them for my 1st UK visa last year. I saw space to upload educational qualifications, which I'm not sure I noticed and uploaded in time past. Anyways, I uploaded my BSc & MSc cert there. Thank you Nairaland folks for your free advice and tips from time to time. 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 |
Abbebbay:I just received VFS email. I'll go there tomorrow. Did biometrics on the 17th of Apr at Ikeja. |
