Looks like they're no longer giving visas up to the length of your passport expiry date.
Via the tracker, saw its only valid for 6months.
Well, the 2 visas I processed and got feedback last month and this month for myself and sibling respectively, we both got till end of passport expiry. Not a joint application, we applied independently of each other for tourism. We both have our separate families and both based locally in Naija.

Hello everyone

Please I’m filling my application on the new portal and it’s asking for National Identity Document which I’m providing my NIN for but the challenge is, it’s asking for expiry date which our NIN doesn’t have

Please what do I provide in that space ?
Leave the expiry date unfilled. Put only the start date if you have it.

Wow, thank you very much for the detailed post. I'm not in Lagos/Abuja at the moment, so I won't be able to go in person. For the courier method, I didn't do biometrics cuz I have my old biometrics from years ago on file, so I don't have any document stamped by VFS, I also read that I have to pay for the package transmission fee and all that, but the VFS Global website isn't even working; it's quite confusing.
You should be able to get details here:

Good morning everyone,

Please, I'd appreciate a breakdown of the process for submitting a passport for stamping.

Thanks
I submitted mine in Lagos. Didn't book any appointment. Just went to VFS and told them I wanted to submit passport based on Canada PPR and I was let in.

Documents I took along:
PPR letter
The passport itself
Copy of passport datapage earlier stamped by VFS
Another copy of passport datapage.

Didn't take time at all. I think I was done in less than 30mins. Didnt pay for courier or sms. I told them I'll pick up by myself.
I submitted on a Friday and on Monday, I was notified by email that my passport was ready for collection. They spammed me with quite a number of emails on that Fri and on the Monday. It was quite irritating.

Good day everyone,

My aunt received her Canadian visitor visa approval in December 2024. However, last week, she was denied boarding her flight to Canada. She was advised to contact the embassy to find out the reason.

Has anyone here experienced a similar situation? If so, how was it resolved?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Was the person denied boarding here in Lagos? This is quite peculiar. Probably the visa is fake or have been flagged after issuance.
Send an email to IRCC and keep us updated please.

PPR finally drops smiley wink

I applied with valid US visa and thought it'll make it faster based on what I read here. I also have a friend that got PPR within 2 weeks of applying with valid US visa. But mine even took longer than current standard processing timeline.

Not sure, but I suspect the delay may be due to the UK visa refusals I bagged in the past in conjunction with my use of the new IRCC site, which some people said is automated.

Anyways, detailed timelines presented below:

Submission: May 9
Biometrics: May 12
BVL: July 9
13th July: I noticed visa number and expiry date on my tracker site, which sort of indicates approval (but no PPR).

On 23rd July, I raised webform that application has significantly gone past recently published processing timeline.

PPR drops: 31st July

Thanks guys. All the best to the people still waiting.

NB
Applied with following documents eventhough they are optional:
-Personal and my company's account statement
-Self introduction and explanation letter.
-Booked tours (unpaid) from GetYourGuide.
-Previous visas and travel history (US, UK & Schengen).
-hotel reservation.
-family documents - marriage & children birth certs, landed property.
-Pictures taken during previous travels.
-NIN slip

@ Milito, When clicking the save and next button, I do not have a problem navigating. I am on the last page where I uploaded all the documents. After uploading, I got stuck because the payment button was not activated, hence I couldn't make a payment or submit.

But THE FEES I HAVE TO BE HAVE ALREADY BEEN CALCULATED AND THE AMOUNT SHOWN WITH THIS EXPLANATION{THE FEES SHOWN IS AN ESTIMATE BASED ON THE FEES IN EFFECT ON THE DAY THE PERSONAL REFERENCE CODE IS USED. THE ACTUAL FEES TO BE PAID WILL BE CALCULATED ON THE DATE OF SUBMISSION}

AT THE UPLOAD SECTION, THE MESSAGE I GOT THERE IS {UPLOADED BUT NOT SUBMITTED TO IRCC
The application I did recently on the old IRCC site, the upload page was not the last page. There are still like 2 pages after it before proceeding to payment.

As I said earlier, there's a page where one only inputs names, which serves as signature on the form, and I think there's even still another page with some stories after this. The application I'm talking about is for a single person though and not family.

Maybe you should take a screenshot of the page for us to see. You can blur out personal info.

WHO HAS APPLIED FOR CANADIAN visitor visas for FAMILY HERE? I AM APPLYING FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I AM ENCOUNTERING LOTS OF DIFFICULTIES IN PAYING AND SUBMITTING THE FORM. MAYBE I AM NOT GETTING EVERYTHING RIGHT. I HAVE UPLOADED ALL THE DOCUMENTS; HOWEVER, MY CLIENT INFORMATION IS INDICATING A YELLOW COLOR WITH THE REMOVE DOCUMENT., I HAVE REMOVED SOME DOCUMENTS FROM IT, AND RE UPLOAD YET I COULD NOT GET THE PAYMENT AND SUBMISSION BUTTON. I NEED HELP BOTH ONLINE AND OFFLINE PLEASE
When you continue clicking save/next up to the payment page, is there a specific error message?

Which page precisely are you stuck on?

Because after that upload page, it'll take you to a page to input 1st name and last name, which serves as signature and from there to payment page I think.

Also, are you using the old IRCC site or the new IRCC?

On the side, I guided my Bro in filling his form and convinced him to use the old IRCC site just yesterday and everything went smoothly. I nudged him to use the old IRCC site in order to have an opportunity to compare both the old and new, as I used the new IRCC earlier in May 2025. Tracker site showing Visitor visa document number and expiry date but also at same time showing background verification still ongoing but for eligibility, completed. 🤷🏽‍♂️

On the New IRCC site no Passport request message. And similar to the tracker site, eligibility completed, background check in progress, and for Application decision: 'No decision made'. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Is something amiss? Or I just need to exercise more patience.

Efetobore1980:
Benin Republic , and Togo are international travels, so when they cannot help your travel history, how will traveling to UK, Kenya and Dubai help you ?

The U.S. embassy has changed the game. They knows that many average and wealthy Nigerians can travel anywhere and come back to their embassy in order to come and claim good travel histories.

Ipso facto, a person with a genuine and reasonable travel history to South Africa, Uganda, and Tunisia, will have a visa success than a person who have traveled for fun to Canada, Australia, and Japan.

■■ Therefore, the U.S B1/B2 visas are no more about good travel histories. It is now about the satisfaction of all requirements, which includes psychological assessment of your personality and genuine intention.

Note: Genuine intention of visa applicant is what eventually determines your visa even when you are not qualified or when you are over qualified, but only the interviewing visa officer can determine that.

Note: Lack of good communication skills or how to express oneself in the presence of the consular is the 2nd tool. Many visa applicants unknowingly sounded like a braggart. Some sounded like a would-be terrorist eg i hate Nigeria. When you hate Nigeria, you will eventually hate America. Lastly, many visa applicants feel uneasy as soon as they face the visa officer. All these mentions surpasses personal credentials in assessment of U.S visa success. 👍
One key point you seem to be missing is that a lot of people that are well traveled are usually more relaxed and confident during such interviews. And they statistically have more approvals.

This confidence is achieved among other things, through international exposure. That is why one must strive not to be a local champion. smiley

When you have faced and answered immigration questions at different parts of the world; that exposure and experience, as simplistic as it sounds, makes one more relaxed, confident and explicit when facing similar travel scrutiny.

Even our Naija immigration knows. That is why when they are playing their gimmicks to extort at the airport, when they flip through your passport and see plenty stamps like this, they just try to beg you for money and wave you on. But those with non or just one or 2, you'll see them trying to intimidate and extort them.

I once met one knuckle head immigration officer at Stansted London who kept on interrogating more than I've ever faced. I swear, if that was my 1st travel, I'd have been totally destabilised and may mistalk. My previous experience guided me in calmly answering his questions and providing all he requested. I even still asked him "Will that be all?" After he kept quiet and was staring and staring at his monitor. He finally gave me the usual fake UK smile and stamped me in.

Update
They denied the visa
It was at Abuja embassy
They denied almost 10 people before me
One thick black American lady like that

She asked me my purpose of travel , where I am travelling to, my job, how much I earn and if I have travelled outside Nigeria

And then denied me

Well I plan on travelling to other countries before applying again
I have only travelled to Benin republic and Togo

I plan on travelling to uk,Kenya and Dubai

Then I will apply again
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Don't feel too disappointed, millions of people have experienced same. It doesn't define you in any way. Just encourage yourself and retool. Everyone that has gone through this path know visa denial can be extremely draining because of all the time, efforts, money and emotions invested in the endeavour.

Just work on your home ties, economic circumstance and international travel experience. These are the basic foundation for getting visas easily.

Please remove Dubai from that your list, those guys are just a waste of resources; instead, direct such reaources to other tourist-choice locations or European countries. They've even made it extremely difficult for Naija to visit their country.

If you have the financial capacity and a stable job with good pay, try and build your travel profile in this order:

Go to Schengen this year, UK next year, then try US again.

The funds you plan to use to travel to the US this year, deploy it to travel to another western country.

Previous travels are important in demonstrating you do not have immigration intent.

And it's always easier to get visas if your previous travels follow a pattern. For example, say 2021 holiday in Morocco, 2022 in Spain, 2023 in France, 2024 in UK, etc

With a good pay and stable job, you should be able to get a Schengen visa if packaged properly. Try France, they give the most visas. And they treat applications relatively faster.

Processing time seems to have reduced to 2 months plus. What's happening??

People are no longer applying??

Or the system has been improved to process faster??

By the way, I recently got Biometrics Validation message, after doing biometrics 2 months back. What this about?

Does France and UK visa qualify for super visa processing timeline? I don’t think so but I may be wrong.
It is not France and UK visa that qualify someone for a supervisa, I didn't say that.

Super Visa is a type of Canadian visitor visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit Canada for extended stays, up to 5 years at a time, with multiple entries permitted over a 10-year period. It's designed to facilitate family reunification and allows for longer visits compared to a standard visitor visa.

While its a good thing to educate and hint people about the limitations and disadvantages of trying to claim asylum most especially dishonestly, but its distasteful the way some people make enquiries about visa an asylum-seeking intention.
