PoliticsRe: Police CSP Defies Governor Sanwo-Olu's Order To Vacate Magodo Estate (Video) by Milito: 6:54am On Jan 06, 2022
linearity:
The Governor’s position is weak, thanks to the way the Federal System is operated in Nigeria and the Governor knows this, hence he is technically pleading.

Agreed, he is the CSO of the State, but he need that same Inspector General of Police’s blessings to retain his security details, he knows that one phone call all the Police giving him security will withdraw to the barracks, so he need to be careful.

Hence the argument for State Police and decentralization of power from the Center to Stated or regions is very important, that is the only the way Federating system works.

Imagine the impunity for the AGN to seat in Abuja and using his office to intervene on land issue in state, when the constitution clearly give that power to the State Government.
The supreme Court has given an order. It has now become a federal issue.

Sanwo-Olu has no business interrupting enforcement of lawful orders.

The delay is very unnecessary. The government is continuum and they should have seen this day coming and made provisions for it by maybe relocating the residents to lekki or another highbrow area. I was only concerned about the interest of the AGF in the matter.
But the AGF is the Chief Law Officer of the Country.

The Executive is to execute all duties of govt.

If the Supreme Court (Judiciary) has given an order, it must be obeyed and nothing is bad in the AGF ensuring it is.

This made me laugh. You're wrong in some ways, there are state jurisdictions that federal enforcement agencies don't cross. In US, the governor is in charge of state police like LAPD, NYPD, etc.
In this incident, the federal unit has no jurisdiction and that's why the issue is between state government, landlords and magodo residents. I'm yet to understand the interest of the AGF in this matter. Maybe in the coming days it's crystallize.
The police are there to enforce a Supreme court judgement.

Sanwo-Olu is trying to intimidate the officer in the carrying out of his duties.

The state government has lost the case at the Supreme Court, why delaying execution?

The situation is crazy. Its all man for himself, whatever you can grab by virtue of the public services being rendered, grab.

OP is right. The situation of motorists in Lagos has made me almost lose all hope of Nigeria becoming a civilised entity.

Damn! The chaos on that road is unbelievable.

A bus will run red light and will still be cussing at you who has right of way. Its just unbelievable.

It's Total madness and chaos.

Passengers are not even left out of the stupidity.

Instead of going into a bus stop, they will instead stay on the road. you'll see bus stops few metres from them, but laziness will never allow them walk there. Nigerians are lazy! The so called western world do a lot of walking, but here, our laziness has made okada very important.

The transporters are crazy ass people who will only stop to pick passengers wherever they are.

The govt needs to change their strategy of chasing after errant bus drivers stopping at unapproved places on the road.

They should instead start arresting the people waiting to board buses and others at unapproved places. Especially, those that have bustops near them.

The videos are also all over the place.

Yet, you are saying it is fake and telling us to go ask the villagers. As a concerned indigene, why not go there to conduct the interview and give us feedback?

Nchenches:
Canibal was used as a speech pattern to condemn the kidnappers, not that they were described as eaters of human flesh.

You are poorly educated. You couldn't even understand speech format.

By the way, the violence in Imo state was man-made, right from when a Supreme court imposed a governor on the state.
They were actually described as eaters of human flesh.

Did you not see the video? Why burn and smoke human parts and then hang them over smoke to preserve? Different parts like laps, head, chest areas, etc.

Go and watch the video. Even the security agents were just in exclamation of shock at what was uncovered. There was also a video of the big well-like excavation they throw their victims. Headless bodies were there. With both fresh and bodies that have started decomposing.

This is terrible and should be condemned by all, while the security agents should be commended. I can't imagine what those people killed would have gone through. These are peoples fathers, uncles brothers, husbands, etc.

And why are you sort of talking for the kidnappers? Are you their spokesperson?

Well thank you for the correction but I can't tell if you're for the government or against them. Those cameras as you know would've have provided some evidence however little in this case. And like I said, there are simply too many coincidences for anyone to think this is natural.

Need i remind you that the army denied ever being involved in the protest, calling it fake news at first. When video evidence surfaced that they were, the narrative was changed to "we were there but didn't shoot". Not until news of people injured in the protest ground began to emerge did they finally settle on "Ok we shot but they were blanks". Why go through the stress of lying if they did nothing wrong?
It's not about 'For or against' just want balanced reporting devoid of falsehoods.

The cameras removed are vehicle plate number readers and not CCTV. It should be reported as such.

There was CCTV capture of the events of the evening before there was total power shutdown.

It was played to the panel during the sitting. It's all over YouTube. Go and watch it there, which clearly shows they were not the ones removed earlier. So stop regurgitating that line.

PoliticsRe: Lagos Releases Judicial Panel Of Enquiry Reports Online by Milito: 1:11pm On Dec 05, 2021
BeardedShaman:
My take on this lil stunt is that we've all been fooled into seeing a brilliantly scripted play by the FG, clever move I must say. The same culprits responsible for what transpired that night set up the panel to cover up their tracks. I don't have the evidence but here's why I know people lost their lives that night:

1. The events leading up to the massacre
I. Some of the CCTV cameras at the toll gates were taken off for no logical reason
Ii. Soldiers were deployed to quell a protest!
III. The lights at the toll gates mysteriously shut off (coincidence? I think not) just before the carnage ensured.

2. The post massacre event
I. The army gave three contradictory statements on their involvement; first they were quick to deny being there, calling it fake news. Not until videos of their involvement surfaced, did it become"we were there but no shots were fired" before finally ending on "we did shoot but they were blanks" only after news of the injured emerged. Can you imagine?

Make of it what you will but I know the Nigerian army too well to want to vouch for anything they say. Good people died that night fighting for their rights and until justice is served, the perpetrators of such heinous act will know no peace.
Over and over again, you have been corrected that the cameras brought down in the afternoon were vehicle plate number readers and not CCTV, but you guys are still repeating this erroneous assertion.

Those particular long cameras are installed at waist height to capture number plates. We that go through that place on a daily basis are very familiar with it.

Are CCTVs ever installed at waist height? Is it people's legs and car tyres that CCTV are to capture??

Haven't watched the vid but I've heard enough to doubt that it is enough to declare the killers of the policemen one thing or another based on the language people spoke, someones nose, and apparent cannibalism when we all know the history of YouTube video fakery . Haven't we heard that some Cameroonian Ambazonian rebels can speak Igbo? France would dearly love Nigeria to replicate Rwanda etc. In any case, speculations and toting up all kinds of permutations in the comfort of the home and in the fevered imagination can be easy, which is why we need hard evidence. Many Nigerians from all tribes have straight noses, how is straight nose suddenly proof that someone is Fulani?

Nigerians need to wait for hard evidence and not rely on hearsay. When evidence is collected it then exits for all to challenge at some point. The "waiting" for evidence is in itself useful in every way. It calms nerves, cools the heated environment, allows individuals to reason better, and helps people cultivate the useful habit of delaying gratification.

bro u understand nothing about vat and development.... These vat figures proved that oyo state it's more develop than all south east states...vat collections is by fg ....and it's same everywhere... U can not give what u don't have... Let me elaborate it more... Vat its automatically collected from every purchase activities...e.g building construction, road construction, consumption goods , bank transaction...
It is a value added tax... The more u buy , the more money generated... Every transaction activities that's involved money added value to tax... Which means Oyo state it's more develop than other states with less activities of business...
Federal inland revenue it s in charge of vat collation....and it's same everywhere.. before it was 7.0 but now I heard it is 12.0. . Import and export tax are excluded....

You need to go back to basics.

I gave you an instance of what I paid in a hotel I lodged in Lagos.
The VAT is still 7.5% but south west states collect 5%LCT.
You won't understand bc you have refused to travel to other regions to see that your south west states are very very poor excluding Lagos in terms of infrastructure and what have you.
Ebonyi is doing better than Ondo and Ekiti but you won't know bc you have refused to tour Nigeria.
You people should keep collecting the VAT why we all share it.
Let's VAT autonomy starts and it will surprise you what eastern states will collect.
The refinery, ENOH gas, and hotels in owerri will do the magic in imo state.
Those in telecommunication sector, banking , transportation and betting companies will tell you where the economic activity takes place.
Look at southwest the only viable airport is Lagos, same applies to north central Abuja, same applies to north west Kano, same applies to south south rivers but look at the east , Enugu and owerri are doing well , same applies to anambra and Ebonyi once they start operation.
We are doing well above other regions irrespective of what you people think.

For the last time, we don't pay tax like other regions. Let's the VAt autonomy starts and we all will be here to witness how all your states in southwest will start borrowing money up and down to pay salaries.

The only states that will survive the heat will be all eastern states, rivers, akwaibom, delta,Edo, Oyo, ogun, ondo, Lagos, kogi, plateau, kaduna, Lagos. Others will struggle or fail but believe me, osun and Ekiti will fail bc they won't meet up with salary obligation.

Shalom
Your governors are waiting for VAT autonomy to start before collecting? What a moronic idea.

Even if VAT autonomy starts, they still can't take 100%, they have to send the FG's share to it. Ignorance is just too much in this country.

By the way, LCT is Lagos Consumption Tax and its 5%.

Your eyes go clear by the time Rivers, Lagos and Oyo start taking their VATs and solely belong to them. Then, you will understand the amount generated in these states. Sebi na you get oil and dey feed the whole Nigeria....we go know what's up then.

You all better up your game, know what is going on by educating yourselves so that you wont be used as mere political e-thugs. The agbero in Lagos are better than all of you here. Lagos shouldn't be counted as south west economically and in Vat analyses.

All Niger Delta companies have their headquarters in Lagos. This can only happen in a worthless country like Nigeria.

Thanks to the clever but militating manoeuvring of the Yoruba think tank group shortly after the civil war, Lagos becomes the only functional sea port in Nigeria to the exclusion of Rivers, Calabar and Warri.

Lagos shouldn't boast, has nothing to boast and should share her VAT with the south-south states she's robbing through legislative criminality.
There's nothing like legislative action in the location of private businesses HQ.

You must have a very poor comprehension skill .
As I stated earlier, if easterners collect tax the way is collected in south west states, there is no way we won't have a higher VAT when compared with what is collected presently.
That's the argument and not how much is collected.
Just know that easterners don't pay VAT at the point of purchase/consumption.

The same tax collection system in Lagos is applied in osun state and yet, they have a very poor VAT.
Why are they not collecting?

Is that not incompetence?

Yet, they are among the people shouting the highest that the North do not pay tax.

For your information, the LCT you saw on your bill in Lagos is Lagos Consumption Tax. Not Local Tax.

It's a 5% Tax levied on Hotels and Restaurants by Lagos State Govt. This a unique way of generating income for the government for them to be able to do more for the people.

Any government not able to raise funds for its activities is incompetent.

Nobody actually wants to pay tax. It is govt that is dragging them by the balls.
