InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by mimini: 12:43pm On Aug 21, 2019
Please house, I did secondary rate with gtb yesterday, but I ve still not been debited and my interest has not been credited into my account. This is my first time. Is this how its done? I thought the interest is supposed to come in immediately.

Acidosis:
T-bills secondary market is a form of black market with no form of coordination or predetermined timeline across all banks. When it comes to secondary market, no two banks have the same or predetermined tenor or rates. The banks simply sell to you what they bought from an existing holder of Treasury Bills.

It's a process of buying from those who wish to terminate their investments, so there are no predetermined rates or tenors. You need to approach any bank of your choice to know whether such offers are available.

As per primary market, auction takes place fortnightly at the same time in all banks. Note, it's an auction, and you're not even permitted to state your own rate. Unless you're investing N50m+, the banks simply bid on your behalf (together with other customers).

When CBN's stop rate for an auction is 11%, and your bank tender a bid of 11.5%, the bank lose out for that period. To scale the hurdle, whatever your bank bids must fall in the range of CBN's stop rate. Don't bother asking anyone what CBN rates are for the next auction because nobody knows, including your bank manager. They only bid and predict using some dynamics such as previous stop rates, policies, inflation, etc.

Also note that the fact you're buying from the primary market doesn't imply you're getting better rates than those buying from the secondary market.
Which is better? Well, no one can answer that. Whichever offers an individual better rates at any point in time is better.
Thank you so much. I now understand it very well. The only question I have is that since Secondary market is like black market buying from others, is it as save and risk free as the Primary markethuh
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by mimini: 4:17pm On Aug 19, 2019
Please, what is the difference between primary and secondary treasury bill? Which is better in terms of risk and investment? I am confused because some banks said I could invest same amount for both primary and secondary. When asked which is better, was told they are both thesame.

I feel they don't understand it.

Prolly you got to the bank later than 3pm for Second Market.

As for limit, some banks set their own minimum. Some 100k, others 200k. Don't know about Zenith's
Thank you.
Was there by 3pm. So does it mean I have missed Tbill for this month?
When then is the next Tbill rate and how do I ensure I don't miss d next one? Am I suppose to apply to the bank before the rates comes out? I am confused because I was at the bank the next day after seeing the rates.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by mimini: 1:02am On Aug 17, 2019
Please I do not understand these banks. I went to Zenith and was told only 1 million upwards. Also at Stanbic IBTC, was told secondary has ended. Only primary is on. But I thought the rates been display was on the 15th. So why are they saying secondary has ended. And why will Zenith say only a million naira upwards can invest?

If you don't have any immediate use for the money then 365 is the best as it usually offers the highest rate (as at the time of investing)

There is no risk
Thank you. is it possible that after investing this month, I can invest another month in same bank before the first investment matures?
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by mimini: 7:37pm On Aug 15, 2019

InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by mimini: 7:15pm On Aug 15, 2019
CompareDBest:
This is surprising...Secondary market rates are rising, for example, Stanbic's rates today were: 49days @12.7%, 175days @12.8% and 259days @12.25%: https://comparedbest.com/ng/stanbic-ibtc-bank-nigeria.html . And the same trend in other banks: https://comparedbest.com/ng/best-nigerian-treasury-bill-rates.html
Is there TBill rate for 1 year from Stanbic IBTC?

Hi everyone, it was said that we should apply online for the purchase of prepaid meters. After that, we will be contacted and told the mode of payment. After payment, we will receive our prepaid meters 10 days after payment.

I registered about 3 weeks ago and have not being called. I receive monthly estimated bill of 31k now. I really need this prepaid meter because the bill now is outrageous.

Has anyone in Abuja being called, paid, and prepaid meter installed? Please let us know if there is any progress on this by sharing with us.

Thank you.

Car TalkRe: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by mimini: 5:21pm On Apr 24, 2019
Please my new EOD makes a loud sound when driving with speed on the express road. when driving slowly on inner streets, its noiseless. I want to know if its normal. The noise is too much. Even my old Toyota Camry does not make such noise. The mechanic asked me to raise the car, which I did. the noise wasn't heard. it only occurs with speed on the express. Please I need answers. Thanks.
